since someone said anything about gender, I guess I now have the right to do so too?

Every elf in Sylvan should be male. The only female creature in the elven lineup should be the Nymph/Dryad/Pixie (only one of them should be in the lineup).
H5 Sylvan was perfect. It won't be realistic if we have female hunters, female druids or female blade dancers. For one, male is stronger when it comes to brute force (hence blade dancer fits it and male hunters would give more damage with their bow pulling) and druids has always been traditionally male.

I really doubt Heroes female players consist of more than 10%. Heck, they'd be lower than 5%. Heroes is a strategy game. Strategy games appeal to male. Heroes should cater to the majority not some shrieking feminist who may or may not even play Heroes (only cares about Social Justice Warrioring).

Slow Treant?

Then maybe make it a ranged unit (for the first time ever). He could attack by burrowing his roots deeper, and entangling (thus immobilizing (his special ability)) the targeted unit.

Or he could sort of teleport, by transforming into roots, burrowing, and resurfacing near his target.

A little twist wouldn't hurt, no?

@Dwarfurious
Or maybe make cliched elves LotR style, in full, shining armor?

The only way of making Treants ranged in my eyes is to give them "throw boulder" ability, but I am not sure if I would like that.

If HoMM was supposed to be realistic, it wouldn't be a fantasy game. Besides, who's to say that female elves aren't stronger than male elves? There's no law that says they can't be.

Weren't the druids in HoMM 1 and 2 female?

@Jeremiah Thats a joke right? "realistic" ? They're elves. "Brute force"? again, they're god damn elves. The females could totally be strong as the males, Dwarf females are about as strong as Male dwarves and share smithing/warrior/priest roles (this is a common theme among dwarves)

In fact, Blade Dancers are all about speed and agility, no armor. Maybe a women would be better at that? Also dont developers add female characters to appeal to males in the first place ? I swear i hope your precious sylvan Leader is a female, to lead your cocktail-sausage party.

They'd make better druids for sure. Its 'mother' nature, not father nature. Adding a female character isnt pandering to females either. Is it still okay to make fun of how male and female elves look alike?

@RMZ in Clash of Heroes, treants used underground roots to attack, those could strike from a distance.

Its true about the blade dancers, but in H5 we have similar unit in Dungeon, thats female, so this way they wasnt clones. So there is a reason why Blade Dancers are male.

now people react. No reaction to Rakshasa when he bashed male creatures and tried to make female creatures look good.
Clear double standard right there.
Anyway, at least I can clear thing up.

@VokilaBG
which is why it was hard taking Dungeon seriously. You have small women wearing bikinis kicking ass in a melee fight. Not to mention, the Matriarchs being harder to kill than they should be. Like what?!!

@Dwarfurious
I'm sorry, I should have used another term. I meant believable.
And yes, there's a difference. Realistic is making it look closer to the real world. Believable is easier to believe.
Speed and agility isn't exactly a big vs small thing. Women are slower even in speed and agility fights. I would know because my cousin is an all-around martial arts fighter and he's only met 4 women in his lifetime who can hold themselves against men and they aren't even in the better half category. Experience counts but it takes a much longer time and a much better training to train a woman than a man.

Appealing to males, you have a point there. But no, not entirely. I say believable first, dicks second. We have porn sites to serve that purpose.

As for Druids, no. Just no. Druids has always been traditionally male. They'd create an uproar with that like how female centaurs created a an uproar.

@Atronach
Like what I said to Dwarf, I should have used a better term. I'm sorry, it should be believable.

And fantasy games still partially follow the laws of physics.
For instance, male elves are stronger than female elves because male elves are still heavier. Plus, with no heavy boobs to carry, male elves are just faster.

Not that this discussion matters, cus the devs will probably make your standard mostly male fantasy set-up.

Nevertheless I've got just the ideal resolution for this problem. Make male/female models for just every possible creature/humanoid and let there be an option to change their appearance with a click of a button (in the right click pop-up menu). Even Dragons or Horses could have dongs or not. That way you can configure your line-up however u like, including (All-Male) Male Power line-up, and (All-Female) Feminist Rule! line-up...

Maybe those endless disputes about genders would finally be finished that way...

@JeremiahEmo: Don't spent far as much time on adult sites as I do behind a game like heroes. So why not have something to look at.

Ok Now lets look on the favorite "It's fantasy" rule. Who and where is said that Male elves are heavier, stronger more agile. We have examples of species were males are smaller (Look at the Mantis)
I think Blade dancers, if they will be in, Should be male. just for the take on Dungeon Female units.

But remember that Heroes is set in a highli magic world so gender and it's characteristics is not that much of a frameline for units, All can be negated by the "Oh great magic users" card. And with things like spells and magic at the tip of your fingers, who need to look back at physical characteristics. It's like Guns. You may be Taller, stronger, etc. I point a gun and you die. No matter how physicaly better you are.

@JeremiahEmo

I am pretty positive that you don't know what double standards are.

There is big difference between some of us disliking full male town(you  know because we think that combination of males and females actually works and adds diversity to the game) and you who dislike any female and want males only town.

Now, if there is other guy whining about towns having females and we are ok with it, THOSE would be double standards.

Just give it a rest man, you are destroying every thread with your whining, every second your post is about the same thing. The only thing you are doing is making us pissed, because Ubisoft doesn't give a crap about you disliking their units and EVERY town will have 1-2 female units and few female heroes, like it or not.

And the worst thing is there is literally nothing you can do about it.(Except for posting it here over and over again and make us all pissed, and that for sure won't stop just because I told you.)

And about Rakshasa92, not many of us pay attention to his post since all he is doing is crying how he dislikes everything they come up with so maybe that is the reason why we didn't react to his post.

@Dave_Jame

I can give you the same argument. Where in fantasies did it say that male elves are not heavier, stronger or faster? See my point? That logic does not make sense.
Mantis, yes, male mantis are smaller but that's mantis, not elves.

@RMZ1989
And you, didn't get my point. Apparently, you left out the fact Rakshasa92 bashed male creatures and made female creatures look good. I did the same. I get criticized, Rakshasa got a free pass.

And quite honestly, it would be a smart move for Ubisoft not to feminize a lot of creatures. One of the criticism Heroes 6 got was there were too many female creatures. They should give what the fans want this time.

and by the way, I'm flattered that you read my post and don't care about Rakshasa92's but there are some new posters here. That is hard to miss.

@blob2
That's a good solution.
It would be awkward to see a male Dryad or male harpy and a female Titan or a female Pit Lord though.

Nonetheless, I like the idea. Sadly, I don't think that will ever happen. That would mean double artwork for Ubisoft. A 7th faction isn't even possible.

Females are problematic with archery. Everyone know why the amazons were removing one of their breasts. So... not really. Better keep it for another unit.

meh. Druids has been historically commonly known as male. Plus, another boring combo of male brute force / female wisdom magic pukeworthy.
We don't have to force women in a faction if it will create a bad result. They did that with Civilization 5 and the outcome wasn't good at all.
Let's just accept a male-dominated society for the elves. People would be more accepting of that. Not everyone is a feminist.

Then, to make it up to female players, just give some other faction I don't care about more females. Like say.. Necropolis. They could add a Banshee and a spider lady there.

I always wanted Wood Elves to be shown in a new and maybe unusual style. Having thought about it, I came up with this line-up. No special abilities, just short description.

Core Creatures

1. Dryad / Hamadryad
Flying melee fighter inflicting Earth damage.
Traditionally fragile; no retaliation; mass attack; spell caster; upgrade has unique interaction with Treants.

2. Archer / Sharpshooter
Ground ranged fighter inflicting Might damage.
Fragile; double shot; attack slows enemy; no range penalty for upgrade.

3. Hunter / Trapper
Ground melee fighter inflicting Might damage.
Strikes and returns; dodge chance; upgrade sets traps.

Elite Creatures

1. Unicorn / Black Unicorn
Ground melee fighter inflicting Prime damage.
Fragile; aura of magic distortion; magic immune; attack dispels enemy; upgrade's presence makes enemies' morale unable to be positive.
Comment: made the creature fragile in order to balance it a bit.

2. Witch Doctor / Voodoo
Ground melee fighter inflicting Earth damage.
Fragile; spell caster; upgrade uses unique Voodoo magic.

3. Hippogriff / Savage Hippogriff
Flying melee fighter inflicting Might damage.
Upgrade always retaliates; upgrade always hits first; upgrade hits twice.
Comment: upgrade seems extremely overpowered and offensive that can be balanced by its high price and low growth.

Champion Creatures

1. Treant / Ram Treant
Ground melee fighter inflicting Might damage.
Has unique interaction with Hamadryads; holds enemy with roots; upgrade stuns enemy with its attack; some special siege ability for upgrade.
Comment: meant to be a defensive creature. Siege ability should be designed properly in order to make Treants useful in any siege combat regardless of who is under siege - you or your opponent. Hamadryads supporting Treants can also turn to be extremely important in this case.

2. Deep Serpent / Quetzalcoatl
Flying melee fighter inflicting Might damage.
Numerous possible specials, so nothing concrete.

The common style of this Sylvan sub-factional version is supposed to be much darker then the usual one.

Well, Sylvan can still have dryads as female units, so... And about Civ5, the only two unneeded female leaders were Wu Zetian of China and Maria the Mad of Portugal. And despite that, Civ5 is one of 10 most popular games in Steam.
