Dungeon ... because the only faction I'm less interested in is Inferno.

Please keep in mind that this thread comes at the time of the official announcement of the vote. The other Dungeon/Inferno thread was a community vote based on speculation and without any Shadow Council information. Given that things are different, even if slightly, that might bear some meaning when it comes to your vote. So in this regards, I think a fresh new community vote was a good idea.

Also. Before you vote, best would be to actually read the information provided on the vote page.

Dungeon

Inferno should be re-introduced in an Expansion only when done properly- as the fearsome evil faction everyone's afraid of, not a weaker faction of mindless ravening demons.

My line-up for Dungeon:

Core

Troglodyte
Assassin
Beholder

Elite

Minotaur
Chimera Rider
Medusa (a ranged spellcaster, replacement for the Shadow Witch)

Champion

Shadow Dragon
Faceless

Dungeon.
As several others said, Inferno is in need of a major retcon. Inferno's character of indiscriminate destruction, often and rightly likened to a natural disaster, makes it a one-trick-pony. We've seen this pony several times already, I've no interest in seeing it again any time soon.

I'd vote Inferno if the site would let me...grrr.

But a dungeon would be tempting too if they had a lot more beasts this time then elves.

Inferno, they best mirror my view on the world of Ashan.
As for Dungeon, no matter how "kewl" their creatures turn out to be, the fact remains that they are being led by moping poncy elves.

I dunno man. We might get to see a different side of Inferno, with Kha-Beleth and all that turning Inferno into a nation thing. Tho that ain't happening by the time of Heroes 5 iirc.

That would involve Demons fightingh eachother a lot. I have not much interest in that either.
Also the rise of the Demon Sovereign took place took place around Heroes VI.

Well that could be like the first map I assume going by what Marzhin said we could explore anything from the past up till now. considering they are not invading we may actually get interesting stories about them considering how the campaign is set up now. Instead of the raaaagh invade smash etc.

WO. I really, really doubt the devs will throw an Inferno vs Inferno campaign. Keep in mind that the Spy Master is telling the story. We will certainly see events outside of Sheogh.

That is the thing. Inferno does 2 things.
1. Go nuts over Ashan during an eclipse.
2. Infight when they are locked in Sheogh.
Since Demons can only exist on Ashan during an eclipse, it's one or the other. So we're either looking at infighting in the past, or invasions of the past. Ain't much else Demons do.

Of course all I was saying is that could be the first map of their campaign how Kha-beleth came to power or maybe how he got more support during one of the eclipses. So it won't be inferno vs inferno, After that the next map would move to another story. Since I the campaign is the npc's telling stories and events of their faction.

With inferno they could explore WHY some people fall to chaos worship or sell their souls etc. Since it seems they are going that route going by what Mar- I mean what the spy master said.

edit: Well I personally feel they decided to go this route because we don't HAVE to be only doing those two things. How can they show how people fall to chaos if that's all they are going to show in the campaigns? I see this as an opportunity to see different facet of inferno.

Sentient demons, like Incubus and Succubus might have other plans when they break out of Sheogh. We might even see scattered demons even after the Eclipses trying to take a more roundabout approach just so they don't get killed and return to Sheogh.

Exactly I mean in the main story Jezebeth was pretty much begging for her life towards Ivan even promising to be his women. XD

We might actually see what happens after an eclipse or the insidious lure of chaos(I really want to see why someone would choose to worship urgash of all things that's my one hope). Heck we may start as a different faction in the campaign and they become corrupted and change into the inferno army. Since I recall for a child of ashan to become a heretic or demon they have to do a form of ritual.

I haven't really decided yet. On the one hand Inferno has some potential in the field of line-ups, many interesting Inferno creatures exist in the Ashan world including the Efreet (I would really like to see them again!). The main objections to Inferno would be the storylines they've had in the previous games, it usually turns into everyone versus Inferno. On the other hand this council system may be ideal for them as each counciler will have their own stand alone storyline so there is very little risk that they will go that way again. Another issue would be that the way they were implemented in Heroes 6 wasn't ideal, but they may be different now.

On the other hand, I am a bit of a Dungeon fan (as you can probably tell by my avatar) particularly the Heroes 3 one, but I also thought that the one in Heroes 6 was very well done (despite all the purple ). The main objection would be that we already have an elven faction and that two would be overkill. This could be countered by saying that the dark elves can be significantly different from their Sylvan counterparts. Another thing to add is that while many people think that the Faceless would be a good Champion unit, but at this time the Faceless are gone right?

All in all, I hope that the sixth faction will be a magic based one because we already have three might based ones (Haven, Stronghold and Sylvan) and only two magic based ones (Academy, Necropolis) and both Dungeon and Inferno could potentially fit this role.

So in the case of Inferno it would depend a lot on the line-up, so I'm hoping we can at least see some potential creatures before the poll closes. So people, try to convince me!

I've voted Dungeon (still have to do that in the official one), mainly because I vote against Inferno. For me personally the role of Inferno has been milked dry pretty much, having been too important and dominant in previous Heroes titles, time for them to leave the center of the stage. They're welcome in an expansion, because overall they're one of the more canonical factions (even though they weren't present until H3).

As for Dungeon, I would prefer a faction more oriented towards the concept of H3, with the Dungeon Overlords and Warlocks plotting and scheming against whoever, without the rather dominant Elven signature that it had in H5 and H6. However, since H7 takes place in between H6 and H5, I know we're going to get an Elven dominated Dungeon faction.

In a tongue-in-cheek way, Dungeon is for me the lesser of two evils

Demons get returned to Sheogh even if they don't get killed after the effects of an eclipse end. Also, all Demons are sentient, but some more so then others.

As for the road to Demonworship, that might be nice, but then we may get a faction of succubi, incubi and cultists. As they are the only ones who can exist on Ashan indefinately.

Do every faction and their mother have to figure into the main campaign somehow?

I'd rather see both either be part of stand-alone campaigns or just be there for people to pick in Multiplayer.
