Poll Question:
Sanctuary vs Swamp-Fortress
just out of curiosity
if we had to vote for faction for expansion
between Sanctuary or Swamp faction based on Heroes3 Fortress
what would you choose?

Sanctuary
1) An established faction the Ashan setting.
2) H3 Fortress was my least favourite of all of H3's factions.

Swamp, it was great faction in H3 and I enjoyed playing it, but to be honest I seriously doubt we would get away from Sanctuary as it is quite established faction already through Heroes 6 and Duel of Champions.
And quite a lot of people like it.

1) Swamp-Fortress faction can be established in Ashan setting as new faction, like Sanctuary was in Heroes6
can be called Asylum for example
2) Sanctuary was my least favourite together with Inferno of all H6 factions

Sanctuary is not bad, but I prefer H3 Swamp faction. I like that 'Tatalia' more.

Oh, for the love of...
Yeah, they COULD establish that kind of setting in Ashan, but they haven't. Get over it. You can "rant" about how people "think anything new is the best", but 1) that's entirely false, and 2) by the same token, the old guard seem to think anything old is best. This very topic is evidence of that mentality.
What's so special about H3 Fortress anyway? Aren't you one of those people who view Ashan's version of Inferno as "red humanoids, red humanoids, and more red humanoids"? H3 Fortress was nothing but "swamp lizards, swamp lizards, and more swamp lizards." Oh, and blandness of gnolls and serpent flies. That's not even getting into the fact that H3 Fortress had some of the least impressive units in terms of gameplay. Again, what's the point in bringing them back?

have they mentioned the 3rd naga race? Because if they havent they could say they are lizard/fish headed, "human" body nagas and have both sanctuary and fortress.

I don't like comparing heroes 3 swamp faction and Sanctuary. They have little in common with each other, even if they are both semi-aquatic reptiles.
At any rate I would vote for the swamp lizards. Normally I side with Ubisoft, but honestly, I feel Ubisoft did not do the Naga justice, and no, "cool" new designs from duel of champions will not change my mind.
If only they knew what amazing beings the Naga were from Hindu mythology. If only.
All this said, I am certain the old swamp lizards are not coming back.

I would be very happy to see the return of a swamp faction in the spirit of H3 Fortress. I would love this.
However, I am fully against combining it with Sanctuary and though this thread isn't about combining them, I feel it's important to preemptively oppose that notion. Please bring back the swamp, but please keep the swamp and Sanctuary separate.

Well. Heroes 3 was a much better made game than Heroes 6, so just comparing Heroes 3 Fortress to Heroes 6 Sanctuary makes it hard not to vote Swamp Fortress.
If you amped up H6 Sanctuary to a more tasteful composure; less monochromatic, more impressive town screen, better designed heroes and skills, etc., then I think I'd take the Japanese water people. I was a little hesitant about introducing far eastern folklore to the game, but I ultimately liked that faction concept quite a lot. Nagas with katanas are awesome. It's true because it rhymes.

Yes they have - Deep, Coral and Lake Nagas, and no one of them looks like a lizard 
That said, Deep Nagas (Kenseis) are closest thing to lizards that we have.

oh ok ok. Which ones are the Lake nagas though? the ones with normal hair?

Lake Nagas have (mostly) more reptilian face than Corals, but still more human-like and normal hair.

It must be original vs. new Fortress.
Sanctuary is less unique and iteresting. It also has no atmosphere. Most boring town in Heroes history for me. While H3 Fortress was always one of my fav's because its unique and this was the only strategy game where you can play with something similar... Nagas were just another Warcraft inspiration.

I love how the nagas are depicted especially in DoC. Introducing something similar to H3 fortress would be interesting, But I just love the idea behind nagas.
@VokialBG: No, no it wasn't. As everything else, there was nothing original on nagas in WC3. Just another rip-off. Similar to H3, rather few original ideas and a lot of copy-cats. Ubi nagas are not original as well but nobody gives them credit for that.
