Hi there,

After a short break I am back again to give you a little sneak peak what is going on with the project currently.

While I was off with my 3D work, our other member pushed forward another vital aspect of a town: heroes. I will be presenting some of his recent works and also give you more details about Oasis classes.

So basically one of our main objective during the character projecting phase was to compose a heroes list not only corresponding to a Town story and aesthetics, but also interesting in other aspects of gameplay. One of our main goal was to create not only a new characters, but also to reintroduce some of those you may have met in other M&M Game Series. Apart from further bounding Oasis to H3 universe it is always nice to meet some old friends as well, huh? We feel that we maintained good balance between fresh blood, and old folks, so we have even find a place for a small surprise  you will be eventually discovering yourselves.

Today I will be covering Might class - Bedouin. While this time I won't discuss balance connected stuff, I am hoping to give you with this narration some hints what it will be like to live a life of Nomads. The story hides five of main secondary abilities. Good luck with finding them!

Just out of curiousity, but could you make a post containing all the animated units that you have so far? Currently they're spread out across the entire thread up to now, sometimes with one or more updates to the same creature. Can you show the current state of affairs so to speak, in a sort of current status post?

You got 3 of them right so far. One is very easy to guess if you pay attention what an exact word is used.

Sorry, from now on I will be posting news from Oasis more carefully and less often as well. Units are a core thing in town, so perhaps until the town is near completion no more information about it is going to be shown.

I have collected the last gifs I have made for you here, but note that some of them are not up to date anymore:

Your animations look fine, though all creatures but lamassu become darker when upgraded. To me it looks weird. I would have preffered the darker version of lamassu. Just my two cents.

Unfortunate, but also understandable. The graphics look absolutely awesome, very great work! Good luck in the finishing stages!

Love the looks of 2, 3 and 6 unit, and really like the upgraded version of all of them (with darker color) except the last 7 monster. He/it looks somewhat fat, has to big a behind/but, especially the upgraded version . Maybe if it was also of darker color it would be better (dont know what units you updated/changed, but just giving my thoughts).

But really great work, this is one of the top looking mods out there

Hi, finally I am back from the void to work again on Oasis town, but since I suffer on mysterious disease called "name all the files >New<" I didn't have a clue where do I start.. so I had to do little cleanup on my computer which have resulted in creating this unit progression images. Please note, that there are no final looks of them yet, though some of them are very closed to finished stage.

Also you can check old design file, which was my attempt to push Oasis for Hota, unsuccesfully may I add.

While I am preaparing new update enjoy some old models gathered together. Be aware that I was learning 3D for this town, so some of images, are kind of ugly.

1. First conception for main race "Faceless", was abandoded during concept revolution. It was supposed to have levitation skill (something in between flying, and walking units - basically able to avoid terrain obstacles, and the castle moat, but due to VCMI mechanics wasn't able to introduce it).

2. Insectoid
Insectoid itself had strong position in lineup, though I didn't know which species should I make present. Before I decided for MM8 inspired Wasp, there were some crazy ideas like : unit changing it's type from crawling to flying.., spider or suicide bomber-unit type.

3. Snakeman
It was inspired by Diablo 2 salamandre, final unit was made by Trith

4. Sand Spirit
Base model was made by Witchking inspired by Agar drawings for non-existing Palace town. I have done the rest. Always strong position in lineup, but it's level was everchanging.

5. Another faceless changed his race, but his function mantain the same

6. Scorpion
Before I learned 3D enough to belive I am able to make good loking Scorpion, Rakshasa was on this place, now planned for alternative unit

7. Lamassu
Now, this is though coockie, was forced to make three models from scratch, with many transformation. Sometimes I still can't sleep because of it.


Other units which got lost during development:
Vulture (2-3lvl)- Another Diablo 2 inspired unit
Desert worm (7lvl) - Quickly exchanged for Lamassu

There is still a long way ahead, but with recent VCMI editor introduction I am hoping you won't have to wait that long.

Nephretes, would some heroes' faces be of use to you in your attempt to finish your oasis town ?
If so I modificate some jpeg using web's frames with (as I've seen) no copyright because I changed Stronghold by a race is similar to "oasis" (egyptian looking).

If it shall help you, tell me, I'll give it to you with pleasure.

Personnaly I find your level 3 & 4 creatures looking better than your 5th. I'm not very fond of Lamasu, but I prefer dark ones and the 4th and top.  
Scorpions are very nice ! My favourites are snakes and the sand golem (very smart, very different from usual creature).

Lamassu has 5 legs! It is ancient ,,animation". Moving visual effect.

If you dont made all 100 frames you can correct. Trifle but you may use it.

Oh, cool looking town, mate. Great job. Don't get me wrong, I really think your town is cool, but your units somehow lacks character.
1st unit - that humanoid cat has really strange animations. I get it, he is supposed to crawl/stalk or whatever, but he looks like someone shot him, and now he is trying to hide from a shooter.
2nd unit - unit as unit has no problems, but I personally don't like it. You could go with something more threatening.
3rd unit - a bit too similar to water/ice elemental, but he looks good
4th unit - at first, it looks strange without head, but really unique model. Great job!
5th unit - remind me on HoMM7 wizard, and that is a good thing. I would paint his skin color black to differentiate him from Tower's wizards even more.
6th unit - scorpion as 6th tier unit? I would be fine with 1st or 2nd, but 6th? Meh... Or just change model into huge scarab!
7th unit - Lammasu looks great. Maybe a bit too fat, but great.

Really nice project and quite skillfully made (all the graphics and such), but if I may, I would like to make a suggestion (more plausible to the world of Enroth/Erathia:

Lv.1 - Cats: Feline humanoids are OK but this faction I think needs another shooter. So, I would suggest something like the Tigran Shredder from AoW 2, a ranged Feline-like Humanoid.

Lv.2 - Wasps : I thought of de-grading Wasps to Lv.1 as to enable more flexibility with the other levels.

Lv.3 - Nomad / Tuareg(Upgrade). I think that now that there is a Desert town the Nomad needs an upgrade (and a new look).

Lv.4 - Snakemen & Vipers. If Nomads are level 3 I imagine the Snakemen are stronger than nomads and by their looks, they're a good match for Crusaders.

Lv.5 - Lamasus (Same but degraded). The idea is to have a flyer at Level 5 for this faction. Maybe make them a little smaller than they currently are.

Lv.6 - Scorpions(they're ok).

Lv.7 - Div / Dahak(Upgrade) I think that there are enough level 7 flying creatures. On the other hand, the Divs (Daevas) are godlike beings or "false gods" in Persian mythology often imagined as giants.
My suggestion:
Another Ranged Level 7. Imagine them as towering, broad-shouldered, dark blue skinned humanoids sitting in magic carpets (sitting position much like your unused lv.5 graphics with legs crossed like meditating). Dahaks have dragon-like head. Still they don't breathe fire. Both Div and Dahak fire magical projectiles.

Hi guys,

Thanks for your opinion about creatures. Sorry if I disappoint you, but currently I don't plan any changes in unit line-up. The only thing left for creatures is polishing their models and animations (oh, and I need to make alternative unit, and perhaps some neutrals later). Maybe some of them switch their position depends on how balancing goes.

We already have shooter on 3th level, and 5th which is flying as well. It is enough I guess.

Nomad upgrade is planned for campaign, but he has to stay outside of a town, as I believe that sand should be the only terrain hard to explore for all classes (this is why Oasis will be on rough terrain, not sand)
