I am in a dillema. I am considering preordering it but the high price and the failures that were Heroes 6 and the Heroes 3 HD edition puts me off.

I will probably wait till someone has played the beta and hope for dear life that there will be still some Collector's editions left should it be good.

Of course not.

And do I do think I'll never buy any more games from this franchise. My time to play HoMM has come and gone. Uninstalled 2, 3 and 4 from my notebook yesterday, as not to taint it with my disappointment and to ward off the feeling that I'll never have as much fun with this franchise as I had back then. So, I'm sort of officially resigning HoMM forever, the old and the new.

Wow..  not wanting to judge or anythiing but that was bitter. A freaking hell of bitter. Don't take this personally, but from what you wrote the whole essence of Celestial heavns came out on me.

You don't have to delete games to prevent them from beeing tainted by those you dislike :-(.

Please don't be a sad panda

Now that is a bit of an overreaction if you ask me. I mean, 2, 3 and 4 are so vastly different. If you still like them, the way they were, are and always have been, why remove them? At least you can return to them and say: "yes, this is what it should have been. Glad that I can still experience the oldies."

It's your choice of course. I won't turn from the franchise. In fact, I look forward to the Closed Beta, even though only Academy and Haven will be in it (I would have liked Stronghold, and Necro is still under construction due to reworkings). I hope I can play it well and share feedback on this forum.

@Dave_Jame

^^ I'm not sad. Actually, I'm better feeling right now as I gave it up as a bad job and now I feel like moving to other things. I'll check on development here and there, but without 'hoping' for anything. I'm sort of sick of placing and losing my expectations on things.

@Dies_Irae

I don't have much fun playing the old games anymore. I expected resparking interest on the franchise, but H6 and now H7 only made it worse. So, instead of replaying things I know by heart but that don't make me feel the same as before, I'll place a stone on it as a sign of respect. Let it be for what it truly represented in my time, before I completely lose my interest even in the old ones. I have the install files yet, because someday, or never, I might bring myself to play just once more map for the fun I'll never have in this new era.

Besides, now that I'm rid of this issue, I'll be able to focus more on the game design of Heroic in CH, devote my hope on my back and people I know instead of a faceless and numb company.

Whichever the path this franchise takes now, it's no longer my concern.

sad to hear it Panda,

certain fools tend to say "go and play the NWC games if you can't enjoy the Ubisoft ones," I guess they'll just never understand that Ubisoft's garbage "sequels" can cast a dark enough cloud over the series to spoil even those great past experiences lol

I will preorder it but at the beginning of the next month. This is one of two, maybe three games for which I am waiting for in 2015. Besides that, I feel that the game will be decent at least, so I hope to have fun while playing it. I won't collector's edition though. I don't feel any need to have a Ivan-shaped paperweight.

@Verriker

I didn't want this game to turn out a mixture of past things grouped together. I didn't want a H 3.7, H 5.7, and definitely not a H 6.7. I wanted a new game. I'm not impervious to changes. When H4 came, although a initial shock, it proved to me rather fun (of course, some Equilibris hocus-pocus improved the whole thing considerably). So, if H7 came with a different proposal, but at least something that would feel like you could expend much time and little time in maps (you would be free to choose your ways) at whim, have many paths in your development, some more micromanagement.

In short, nothing impressed me. There were some pointed fixes here and there, but they were just that. The Council at least served for the purpose of showing, in advance, what was coming and it even helped me see which product was coming, something I didn't have in H6 and that might have been responsible for the fact that I ended up playing that game for some hours, before learning how ... it really was. And the online-only feature back then was another turn off.

I'm yet a bit interested in any eventual MM game, MM XI, if any. And that's that.

No because ... that sounds stupid and ridiculous. Creating a sequel that is garbage, does not reduce the quality of the awsome original. If anything it makes it better, as you can appreciate more the past awsomeness. The only reason I still play H3 with my friends - continualy (!), that is as if it never became old - is because sequels were not on par with it.

Specialy now with new era - NWC is gone, titile of franchise changed, new developers took over, story and lore has nothing to do with original, and atmosphere is totaly diferent. I would say Ubi games, if anything have left me disconnected with original franchise.

It's exactly the same as saying original Transformers animated series sucks now, because new movies made by Michael Bay were garbage. No. Original animated series is as good as ever.

no I didn't say that, I said it can spoil the experiences (like Panda's experience), obviously it can never spoil the actual games lol

Haven't decided yet.

I pre ordered H6, and while I like the package (I bought the CE, as It was very cheap here), the game was an utter disappointment (bugs, no ts, uninteresting artstyle, skill system etc). I didn't even play through the campaign... Played some hotseat with my longtime friend and that's it. I just isntalled it a few weeks ago and played through the campaign, the DLCs, and the expansion... It was "ok", I loved Sandro's story, and rooted for him in the SoD expansion Aaah... Nvm, it's h7 topic.

So I haven't decided yet, I'll have to see some more gameplay nad feature explanation from the devs to decide.

So somehow you not liking their reasoning is okay, but when it comes to me not liking it it's self-entitlement? Yea right. They had the nerve to serve us with such faulty lines and I'm supposed to take it.

I think I won't preorder because this "preorder to get into beta" thing is getting kind of lame pre-selling strategy.
