Played Haven for a while.
Wow what a powerhouse the faction is! Their racial, combined with Leadership and Light Magic just destroys everything with streaks of good morale! Academy racial doesn't stand a chance!
And those Justicars? Seriously, in a formation of
Wolves-Legionaries-Justicars
If someone attacks Wolves, this triggers defense skill of Legionaries and as they suffer damage Justicars retaliate too!
Great stuff.
Still trying to discover good Academy Blademage/Destiny builds.

last time i played the beta, metamagic didn't work properly and the grandmaster talent didn't proc at all

Well Metamagic does partially work, at least with buffs and debuffs which refresh each other etc. Dont think the tree works with Damage spells but will test it again.. Never specced to GM so far; but doing it in my current game. I always tend to get diverted and dip in other trees

So we actualy got open beta now ? 
But seriously guys, shame on you ! Ubi tried so hard with the Uplay to protect the game and you pirated it even before it came out

Yes it is pretty open, alright
But hey I think I deserve it! After all I paid 150$ for their Collectors edition - partly to get an access to the bug-ridden pre-Al.... I mean, their glorious "2 months from release" Beta!?

Anyway, did anyone try yet if it is possible to recruit war mashines of a different faction? For example whether you can buy a small pyramid with a haven hero.

Yes, you can, at least that's how it was in beta but if you have abilities tied with your faction warfare units then they won't work, for instance dryad has ability tied with mother treant so it won't ork if you have healing tent from academy

Some other observations from playing the beta:
1) Swordbearers splash attack damages YOUR OWN creatures as well as the enemies! Was a nasty surprise for me..
2) During the siege, Gates CANNOT be damaged by your army - that means Haven is almost useless during the siege - most of your creatures just sitting ducks.. It costed me half my army against inferior Academy garrison.
3) Creatures all have different damage type - Cabirs have Fire and Djinns - prime. This is really important since the resistances of certain creatures to certain types of magic count in these cases.
4) In the updated build, HEAL spell ACTUALLY RESURRECTS creatures - it even says so in the tooltip! Not sure if intended though.
5) Seraphs and Celestials immune to Damage spells as well for some unknown reason - not just debuffs - I hope this is just a bug.
6) Haven racial is not as OP as it seems at first - you first need one of your creatures to have good morale in the first place in order to have a 'morale streak'. And it better be a creature with high initiative.
7) Marksman are really, really slow(initiative wise). Should benefit greatly from Haste.
8) Cuirassiers need critical(lucky) strikes in order to apply their "Bash" skill. I think this may warrant Destiny builds..

Most of the random effects require luck. Stronghold has both cyclops and basilisk..

question is if there are artifacts to support it. H6 increased the luck roof from 3 to 100 but didn't increase obtainable luck in any way making it rather useless. Is there here?
if so, i can dig it

I think expert luck gives +30 and there is that perk that gives another +30 if the battle takes place within your area of control.
