Sorry for reviving this thread, but I found my new idea to be more or less related. What if we had a "flag post" feature? Now I know that this may be unnecessary since one could simply PM a moderator and tell him if he found a post that breaches the CoC, but this one is more "organized" and less personal, in a way. Bear in mind that it's simply an idea, a "what-if", I'm not asking anyone to implement anything.
Here is an example of how the procedure would work:
1. You flag the post that you found to be offensive or otherwise doesn't respect the CoC.
2. You fill in a reason, describing in which way the post breached the CoC and such.
3. The moderator would get alerted, and he decides a suitable course of action.
Which mod(s) are notified of the flag: Moderators of the specific forum where the flagged post exists.
Like I said earlier, this is only a "what-if", and we will discuss it, and if you guys find it good, maybe we can politely ask Valeriy to implement it.
Also, if you are going to go with the "We can just PM the mods instead" arguement, please include how that would be better.

That would lead to a witch hunt, if you'd ask me. I have faith in the moderators to catch such posts before too long and there are already means available to get the attention of a mod.

1 & 2 is good I think. Like you say would be more organized and with reasoning provided it'd perhaps remove some potential bias through anonymity.
But I don't like 3. No voting from members please. Mods are selected to moderate, no contest stuff in this regard please.
But I don't really think it's up to us to provide counter arguments to why the current system would be better, but rather advocates for change to demonstrate why that change is better. Which isn't easy if one only can use words. So I guess the big question is if the current system, or at least the part of the current systems that would be changed, is flawed.. which is difficult to demonstrate without being able to demonstrate the alternative.

I get what you're saying... So what if we changed 3 to a variant where only "elite"(honourable or more) members can vote? These guys tend to be the most knowledgable, I think...

I don't think the contest idea is something that Val would want. Val chooses his mods. Mods moderate. If members wants to be mods, they would ask Val.

Dislike from me. Not the like-dislike system idea itself, but because it's taken too seriously already on places like facebook, where there are just Likes. And most of the time by the active members.
