Final Report on the CZ sentinel/guardian bug.

The bug can be recreatedd in any game, that uses the CZ language variation of the game.

It is most likely caused by bad translation which named both unis "Stražce" and is so far only limited to towns.

The bug causes that growth boosting buildings in the town to boost the populatio of both units, replaces the Sentinel icon in the recruitment tab with that of the Guardian, and also disables the option to recruit sentinels directly, allowing only to be recruited by the "recruit all" feature.

Other boosts to growth (like hero specializations) are not shared.

Upgrading the dwellings does not stop the sharing of the population boosting buildings, it only adds weird graphical glitch to the Sentinel/Legionnaire icons.

Tested in two games.

The localization of the game (atleast for CZ) is very bad. Guardian/Sentinel are not the only units that share the same name (Strážce), Sword master and Blade master do aswel (Mistr meče)

Sylvan's faction ability relies on Earth Magic. Troglodytes (and Earth Elementals) are immune to Earth, it seems. At least, that's what I derived of it ...

- Healing tent is able to heal the golems
- Fast reload does not seem to work (at least with the triple shooting balista I was not able to get a second attack even tough the first was done on a marked opponent)
- Negative morale animation is not played
- Sometimes when hovering over an opponent you get the erroneous "No retaliation" message
- Garden warfare unit is not able to resurrect the Oak Dryads
- Garden warfate unit AI is not properly implemented: instead of attempting healing on the one and only injured stack it keeps healing the same uninjured stack
- The retaliation special ability of the Minotaur is implemented incorrectly: I attacked it with a unit that had the Face of Fear with Master of Darkness II (Catatonic Fear) but I still got retaliated (even before the original attack, due to minotaur's ability). I believe someone said that Confusion also does not work on minotaurs
- Fog shroud does not work on opponent stack (not sure if it works on the player's stacks)
- Occasional  crashing or freezing but not as frequent as when I was playing with haven on the small single player map

I'm very glad royal griffins are hard to get because they are very broken. I tried a battle dive and the game completely went crazy I wish I had recorded it but basically during the regular battle it kicked me out onto the world map WHILE the battle was still going on! The only time I was able to see what was going on was when like the cinematic camera zoomed in. But the auto-battle button was still on the screen so I was able to win by pressing that but yeah Battle Dive caused a huge glitch for me.

I think I ran into a glitch where my hero leveled up twice and had two skill points but I could only select one skill.

I had both of these happen the music part tends to happen often. Sometimes when you enter a town the music does not transition like it should other times the music never starts for battle. One time weirdly I had a battle with the town music playing (wasn't a seige either.)
The horses are very funny one was like moving forward but was also spinning/rotating around, and another (a dungeon lizard) only moved backwards the whole game.

It only works 1 time per turn.

Well, for me it did not work. The first time I use it the griffins just disappear and then do the dive without doing damage. After that I see only their stack number on the tile they left from, nothing more. I haven't tested them thoroughly, but the dive attack did not work after a wait action.

On the 8-player map I am unable to attack the south-central underground city as there "Is an army in the way" even though the only army around is inside the city.

This is the bug report i send Ubisoft, although it ended feeling more of a review. It is also mixed with personal opinions so keep that in mind.

So, i am going to try and be as thorough as possible:
Note: The System that had windows 10 was at the low end of the requirements and the system on Windows 8.1 met all requirements. Both systems use AMD CPU and ATI GPU.

1. Played the game on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 clean install and to both OS it plays good.
1.1 I noticed more crashing on Windows 8.1 mainly during battles (initiating, restarting, loading during battle).

2. On lower end PC the colors feel very washed out, dull, like they have too much brightness and things are harder to distinguish. The overall experience is generally not pleasing to the eyes.
2.1 On higher end PC the colors were better, more vibrant but still, maybe a little sharpness and some contrast or brightness control and optimization is needed.
2.2 Please work more on your optimizations for different options. There is a great difference between choosing various options on lower end systems and the performance is very downgraded (though understandable, if able to make more fixes to this, please do).

3. Animations are still sluggish and have lag. This is true for the Strider and Black Dragon during lower end systems. On higher end system animations are good but there are times they are delayed.
3.1 Please look again at the synchronization of animations and sound effects, how an attack lands and how soon after the animation occurs etc. I happen to come across a unit showing animations of being attacked before the attacking unit reached it, or the sound going before the animation and such stuff.
3.2 There are times that the unit seems to move much further than intended and then appears to the selected place. This may be due to graphical processing, but still, keep it in mind.

4. Controls for the camera need to be more free. Don't restrict the zooming in and out. You went to great lengths to make good graphics, allow us a greater freedom to see them by making the camera free. Also, please, let us rotate the camera by holding down the right mouse button. It feels more natural than pushing keyboard buttons.
4.1 There is a slowdown when building a building in TS and then the building is not highlighted. Please if possible, make the new building highlighted after it is build, until the player exits the TS.
4.2 In the army recruitment screen, please make a dedicated window that shows status of units, abilities explanation with some detailed script so that new players can find out what each unit is able to do before battle.
4.3 Movement points are better than the first beta, but still, the terrain penalty seems to be quite large. If possible tone it down a bit more.

5. Spells are a bit of a strange topic. It is mainly a matter of opinion, but i find most spells plain. What i would like to point out though is that storm arrows is strong for its tier. With it and an air specialization i could boost my archers greatly and overcome strong armies.
5.1 Maybe some added effects to spells or some more powering up like Resurrection to upgraded heal and regeneration could make them more viable

6. Leveling up is a in my opinion much better than previous beta. Though i think that the skills need more detailed and specifically the basic-expert-master ranks. Also these ranks need some more oomph in my opinion to feel like you really managed to upgrade and not rely specifically to their abilities.

7. About Sylvan.
7.1 Natures Revenge sometimes didn't work in battle for me. No marks were allocated
7.2 There were times that my Master Hunter didn't shoot twice
7.3 My Sylvan Ballista sometimes does not shoot twice after hitting a target with natures revenge mark on it even though i have the ability.
7.4 Blade dancer feels weak, it dies very easy and fast. There were battles i didn't even get the chance to use him.
7.5 The general management of Sylvan feels expensive. It is the only faction i play and end up with little to nothing money and resources relatively soon. If possible, check it out and make some optimizations.
7.6 Some requirements are too much, like the Champion dwelling requiring so many magic schools and fortifications.

8. About Dungeon
8.1 Dungeon doesn't feel cohesive. The units don't have any synergy between them like Sylvan does. Many of them lack abilities and some have abilities that don't suit them.
8.2 Troglodyte doesn't have the burrowing ability that was said it would. The unit though is fine in itself, but the ability Blind is very occasional and could be games at times that it is used.
8.3 Stalkers need something more to differentiate them from other archers in the game. The strike and move ability would fit this unit much better than Medusa.
8.4 Medusa does not need Strike and Move. It is rarely used for this unit and feels kinda wrong on her. If anything, the Mesmerizing effect for ranged attacks and a Petrification ability for her melee attack would be more fitting. Also, an ice ability or water ability to reflect her Water association would be nice. If possible, make her a bit fatter and make her hair shorter to look different than the Pearl maidens please.
8.5 Minotaurs need some faster animation and some more presence to its sound effects, like stronger hooves impact, stronger hit sound etc, it is the strongest elite in the game and should sound and feel the part.
8.6 THE BLACK DRAGON NEED TO BE BIGGER AND FATTER. Right now it looks like an underfed dog with wings and has 1/3 of the size of other champions making it look like a core unit or the same size as the spider which is sad for the once stronger unit of the genre.
8.7 Hydra also needs to be a bit bigger as she looks closer to the size of elite units and smaller than other champion units.
8.8 Assassins could get back their invisibility from heroes VI as it suits them and would make them more formidable. Poison blades should be available from the basic version of the unit to give it some more usefulness.

9. Sound feels limited. A richer track list would be much appreciated, also bringing back sounds and music from previous heroes games would provide a much needed nostalgia to us old players and provide a richer experience to new players especially for adventure map and battle music.
9.1 Some units sound strange and have unfitting voices, like the Druid, the Strider and the Genie to name a few. This ofc is more on the side of personal opinion
9.2 Some spells or abilities could use richer sounds and music as well.
9.3 Adventure map could also be enriched with various sound effects when entering a building or passing through objects.

And that's my take so far.

- dungeon units get 2nd attack from racial ult regardless of whether they have been retaliated at.

- dungeon units will not become shrouded despite the ability and having received no damage

- mother treant does not wait when there are no injured units yet

- warmachine tooltip is incorrect: healing tent says it will resurrect when it doesn't and damage predicted for small pyramid is much higher than what it actually deals.

- damage of spells affected by metamagic is not updated in spellbook. In spellbook the unskilled damage is listed, while when casting the damage turns out to be much higher.

metamagic doesn't seem to work properly

at metamagic 2 the tooltip says my spells are now cast at expert level, and at metamagic 3 they are already at master.  In addition, when I was casting firebolt with whatever level of metamagic, the actual damage was much higher than the tooltip.  I don't know if the damage is correct and the tooltip is wrong or vice versa, but one of them is wrong.

Good analysis. The only points I don't agree with are those I quoted.

7.2 This is not a bug. They need to kill at least one unit to get the 2nd shot. Took me a bit too figure out too and is pretty stupid, but at least it is intended.

7.6 The champion dwelling does not need fortifications. The required building is a choice between two, of which only one needs fortifications. Basically the champion building requires almost nothing more than all mage guild levels (which is pretty expensive) and that stupid town level they should get rid of.

Also I think the assassins are fine the way they are now. Your suggestion for moving mobile shooter to stalker is one I totally support however.

I have encountered strange bug. I've used instant reinforcements spell, took stalkers from castle (I already had some on my hero) and then I pressed reset button.
Stalkers that I teleported to my hero were not subtracted and new ones appeared in castle. I've repeated this few times and every time new batch of stalkers appeared in my castle so I could just pile them indefinitely.

They were permanently added to my army.
I was going to record how hero gets to keep all of those units but I forgot that unregistered fraps can record only 30 sec.
I would recreate it today but beta will be over before I return from work.

Seams that beta is extended so I will upload another video that shows that I got to keep all duplicated units.
I can also upload save game if someone wants to check out the bug...
