I'll trust a review once they've played 100+ hours. Heroes is simply the kind of game where any less is useless for forming a useful opinion.

Oh it's in french, sure I do that soon no problem.
Edit
OK I won't comment. Maybe only point out the dude says Heroes IV killed 3DO in the intro and that he mentions flanking as an obsolete mechanic from NWC games somewhere (lol).
Anyway there you go for a translation I made of his summary:
ExServ (Gamekult) said:
With a particularly unfavorable environment, and unusual attitude of developers, this Might Magic Heroes VII has anyway been envisioned to divide. This is a game designed exclusively for a nostalgic community which will probably be pleased to see this iteration to join the ranks after three episodes widely criticized. Others will just feel put aside, or simply won’t understand the appeal of a title where game mechanics has not evolved. It is not a question of challenging the cult aspect of HoMM III, rather recall that it is excellent in the context of its time. Recent years have seen dozens of turn-based games offering deeper and complex rules. It is perhaps time for the players as well as developers to bury the axe of war and let flourish the license instead of choking it. Or maybe, but it would be much more difficult, to mourn the saga, measure the undeniable impact it has had on the current games and make it last the true HoMMage it deserves.
6/10
Honest.
The good
+ Interface more convenient
+ Town gestion
+ Spells looks good visually
The bad
- AI cheats
- Strategic dimension faded away
- Balance problems

This kind of review, judging the complexity of Heroes 3, is incredibly contemptuous.
Reading this, i understand : it s time to entomb(bury) heroes series, but whatever i give you 6/10.

Well, in King's Bounty, every action is separate. You have initiative and movement points, so you can spend 2 movement points to step away, wait, then spend your remaining movement point foward and attack an enemy. A shame that game isn't multiplayer, because it's a far more interesting system than what Heroes 6 had.

of course they do. just like other "professional critics" for restaurants, movies, books, etc. some of them are most likely the people who worked on the game, or work for the company, as promoters. they mighta had a sit-down with everyone, and had a contest to see who could post the most positive votes. winner gets a pizza, or a bonus. very likely.

Again, I think the primary reason for the scires is the time given. You can't form a good opinion for this kind of game within this kind of time-limit. You need to spend a lot of it and that's why I don't listen to reviewers for strategy games until at least a week or two after release.

A few highlights from this review:
Quote: As I stated in the Heroes 7 Beta preview, the visuals in the game are stunning. The overworlds, combat maps, and units are all very nicely detailed and colorful — But the crown jewel in my eyes has to be the city screens. Theses screens are 100% gorgeous and give me a nostalgic Heroes 2 & 3 feel.
(...)
Another great part about the cities is simply how many buildings you can have per city type. While Heroes 5 & 6 had few buildings per city type, Heroes 7 has around 30 different buildings for each kind of city.
I'm fully aware that reviews are subjective and that tastes differ, but this to me just goes to show that I put very little value in the score of this particular reviewer because we seem to have completely opposite opinions.

Anyone that claims we, the fan base, is too subjective, you got these reviews to prove that we aren't the only ones around.
But I repeat again: do most of these sites evaluate the game as an individual game in the Heroes series or compare it with the previous installments?

From those I've read I have the feeling of the later option. Many of them give notes to older games, but have a more "general player" approach then the typical Die-hard fan one you will see here.
