I downloaded this, and the newest HDmod, but I keep getting crashes when trying to start a map.
I get a HD_Crashlog file with errors, but wonŽt post them unless you want me to

I really wanna try this, cause it has so many smart things that IŽd love to add to my game

You can always upload it and link it here.

The plugin works fine on latest HDmod on my side, and your report is the first otherwise so if you want help I'm gonna need some more information from your side, system, version, other mods, modifications, ... anything which you don't normally have after installing clean version.

I don't really have specific debug tool or anything to look at crash logs - usually it's code error on my part, user side incompatibility from another mod or modification, not using admin, bad installation etc. Also just to make certain, mod is 0% tested for multiplayer and should be disabled; in any case 99% of mod is disabled in multiplayer.

I added HotA compatibility a while ago but the crew decided they don't want plugins so with newer HDmod versions it doesn't work.

WoG compatibility is another story completely, given the limitless combinations of existing mods I don't think I want to ever get into that.

The plugins work perfectly in Era. Resurrect is okay, big stacks ok, I never had any crash from it, and tested on rather heavy scripted maps. And also, the quantity of mods is irrelevant, if they are properly coded. Is bad coded mods who crash the game.

Well the biggest problem compared to specific plugin like gamebugfixes vs. SoD_SP is the amount of patched areas and whether some patches are compatible or not.

For example, one of the reasons SoD_SP used to be incompatible with HotA was that both patched similar areas which resulted in garbage code.

The first step to compatibility with WoG is to check that all WoG callers, e.g. !!BA, have no conflict with the location of SoD_SP hooks and patches. That's a lot of work for me and I'd rather just continue development (still one thing left before 1.13). When need be I can make separate patches for WoG rather than have to check every hook and patch for full compatibility.

Not true, there are ways to still use plugins with the easiest being to use older HDmod version.
Keep separate installation folders and you're set for single and multiplayer. Same way ERA players used to stay on very old HDmod version.

Playing today a battle vs 7 stacks of archangels who can clone and can cast 4 times, so there was a lot of resurrecting on the bf. So I got the other version of the bug, now there is no problem with the resurrected stack right after being resurrected (it moves and such) but after I hit him and it gets to move, it freezes. Did you get such situations?

One thing that puzzle me - option for changing the color of "All stack got killed etc." does also affect the text. But option for "Part of the stack got killed") doesnt.

Looks great and amazing work, one thing I would suggest for visual tweak, assign reset spell to right click on the spell icon, then remove all the little "prohibited" icons, if possible. Is a bit of traffic jam right now imo.

When there is only one option of kill ranges I wanted it to be clear that you'd kill everything without having to read the numbers specifically.

If it's really too much trouble for you, I can add a specific option for the coloring of the range word, e.g. "to".

First of all, hello everyone and to RoseKavalier, thank you for a very useful mod.

However, i am using SoD_SP 1.13 together with HOMM3 HD version: 5.0  beta 39 and the game always crashes when i try to initiate combat (quick combat or regular combat). If it helps, i can send/upload the HD_CRASH_LOG.txt file.

Another bug that I've seen was in regards to buying a magic book from a magic guild: i click on the guild with a hero without a book, select yes in the purchase dialog (with more than 500 gold available) but then, when i check the hero inventory, there is no book. If i click no in the purchase dialog, it lets me see the spells in the guild, as the intended behavior of the plugin.

I am aware of the Spellbook bug, a solution is ready and will be released in a few days with 1.14. Oversight on my part.

For combat crash: try the Debug version. It's more helpful to me.
This is the second report I've received with combat crash. In the other case it is related to Quickspell panel. Unfortunately I am not able to get the same Heroes3 version as that user and can not recreate the bug.
If you have specific information about your Heroes3 installation (where you got it from & tell me where to get it, etc.) that could help fix this.
For v1.14 there'll be an option to disable the Quickspell panel (even if the bug can be fixed).

I have the HoMM 3 Complete from GOG (installer name setup_homm_3_complete_4.0_(10665).exe, and if i right click on it and look at details, the product version is 4.0 (49996123029093464) and i am running Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 (as a side note here, with the same version of Heroes but on a Windows 10 x64 computer, the plugin would not run, no matter what i tried, i could not get the F12 in-game menu).

To make sure that i have the latest Heroes 3 version, i have re-downloaded it from GOG just a couple of days ago, so if you have it on GOG too, then our versions should be identical.


I have installed the SoD_SP_debug and tried to initiate combat. I have uploaded the SoD_SP_Dump.ini to pastebin at this link:

Please let me know if you need some other logs and how to produce them.
