I absolutely adore your mod. Not sure why it is not in the VCMI Launcher repository though.
There are some things relatively easy to fix:

during the battle any Ruins Hero reacts to successes sadly but switches to happy in the middle of the facepalm.

The trackers feet are slightly cut sometimes during walk.

Creatures sprites have a bit too dark contours. Their animations seem to be a bit stiff.

I would love to help improving it even i you do not have time to do it yourself. I`m a programmer, but I know some things about art and animations. Also, I play music on some cool folk instruments, so if you want me to do anything, just tell me. : )

It's vcmi thing, not mod itself.

But yes, it's very climatic town!

I checked heroes from the standard cities and they did not have this kind of problem.

Hello guys, long time no see.
I left the topic hanging for a few years, but I didn't forget about the town.

So 2023 should a year to rework Ruins.

I have no models ready. I have no townscreen, and I have no deadline to finish, but there are things I want to do, to show...

First, I was following Kickstarter for the Homm3 Boardgame, but unfortunately, the country I live in is not so financially friendly, so I couldn't jump in. I liked very much the concept and the miniatures, but I was skeptical at first about the combat. Now, I'm cool with that.
I have decided to try a Skirmish mode, based just on the boardgame combat rules, but extending...

I have a 3d printer, then printed the unit models, or similar ones, or even proxies for each faction. I fixed the base size as the same from the board: 25mm for the smaller ones to 50mm for the bigger ones.

Back to Ruins, and based on that context, I have reworked the timeline for a more meaningful one...

Wrong metric unit. 25mm, 32mm, 40mm, and 50mm for the biggest ones

I must admit the mod is very primising, unlike a dozen of other towns mocked up from ripped graphics and abandoned ever since.

I backed the kickstarter and I'm very excited about the board game. A fun thing about boardgames: that community is also very open to modding! They just call it "houserules" or "variants"

Seeing these beautiful cards and mini's you've designed I'd like to invite you to also share your work on boardgamegeek in the files section. An empty unit card would be helpful as a format for others to add more creatures to the game too.

I fully expect the boardgame to also hit retail once the kickstarter is fulfilled, so you will be able to get your hands on it eventually.

I strongly agree with you about house rules.
About the miniatures, I haven't designed them, Just a few ones I changed poses, and heads or replaced some aspects. Many of them I have printed parts from different models and builders with super glue.

About the cards, I have an empty .PSD with already prepared, numbers and text just to type in. Was made using the teaser images from the boardgame Kickstarter, but It is good enough to print them. And you could use even mini-usa sized sleeves for them.

Thanks for the kind words. I haven't been able to update the town for a few long years because of some real-world problems, but I never really left. So, there's a lot of work to do

I have finished my lvl 1 idea, after dozens of tweaks and reworks:

The wild man is a mythological hairy creature sasquatch alike, but I have merged the concept with the Tolkien Druedains to achieve a wild folk who lives in those ruins.

The non-upgraded will have a classical wood boomerang. The upgraded will have a triple boomerang but should be able to shoot as a ranged even with an enemy in the neighbor hex. Both should have a limited range to shoot and infinite ammo.

Lvl Wild man >> Druedain

I liked his blueish as well. Maybe moving him to a Deep Gnome could be better.

So, My vision about Herne the hunter...

I aimed for two different interpretations of Hern: more naturalist, align with animals and crude raw clothes; and a darker shadow hunter/ranger.

The non-upgraded one will be the raw version. A hunter/gatherer one; with a snake in his neck; a horn in his hips... (that I will show as the taunt action)

The upgraded one seems more like an elite shooter; not identical to Sharpshooter, but in the same path.

Both should have some shooting abilities, but still not defined. The upgraded one should be a non-living creature.



I will move to Wendigo >> Leshy as the next model... I guess

They should use a pea-shooter instead of a bow, since "herne" means pea in Finnish .

The creatures are looking nice, I hope they will feature the classic graininess found in H3 sprites (from what I recall, some of your older works such as certain heroes were lacking it).

And I'm definitely looking forward to the Wolpertinger, which is also an easter egg in a few Carcassonne board game cards.

Hello chief. This is the current lineup stage, on phase 1.

lvl1: Wildman - new model and animations finished.
lvl2: Cockatrice - using the old model, will be replaced on future
lvl3: Kelpie - using the old model, will be reworked on future
lvl4: Peryton - will be used the old model, animations will be redone on future
lvl5: Hunter - new model ready, lacking half of the animations.
lvl6: Wendigo - new model not finished yet.
lvl7: Colossus - using the old model, will be replaced on future
lvl alternate: Wolpertinger - the model is not finished yet.

My idea is finishing the lvl5 animations and lvl6, then release the 'new' lineup with the old townscreen, for now. August seems really reasonable.

All the heroes, specialities and creatures attributes/skills are finished.

The townscreen in not started yet. I'm still struggling with the buildings plannings. The old one was using 70% pre-made building models, so was easier, but became flat and generic.
I wanted at least the castle and capitol be something really nice.
The capitol fist model version is already done, the castle, open to suggestions.

Creatures on first page look fantastic

But, don't you think and Kelpie and Peryon are too similiar, especially in tier 3 and 4?

I mean, look at Rampart with Centaur, Pegasus and Unicorn. All of them are creatures stemming from horses. At least Kelpies are horses and Perytons are bucks.
