Pollo2002 said:It annoys me that it's called Sylvan, because it doesn't have a single unit from Sylvan or Rampart.
Phoenixes have been the faction's top tier creature in now four of its seven appearances. Some form of fairy has been in all but one. It's also worth noting that while Iryiads are original and Fauns are newcomers, they closely match dendroids and elves respectively. The faction is very obviously thematically similar to Sylvan, even if it has been heavily remixed. It's at least way closer than H2 Warlock going into H3 Dungeon.
I don't know what game you're talking about, but the Phoenix has never been a creature of the Sylvan faction.
Dryads and Fauns don't match Dendroids or Elves, and there are no fairies or anything similar in the current iteration. I really don't know where you're getting all this from.

Sylvan is a good name for a faction that is literally the living forest. Yes it is not sylvan from H5, BUT THIS IS NOT ASHAN in any case...
Can we please stop this nonsense?
If you want to critique olden era and the sylvan faction, there are myriad things to pick from... The name of a faction not meeting your h5-fanboism is not one of those...
For an account created after the game was announced with barely 20 posts made, you're awfully opposed to criticism that asks for the game to be improved, something you yourself would only stand to benefit from. Calling it nonsense that needs to be stopped? Seriously? You seem very invested in silencing opinions that deviate from your misguided brand of adulation. What other forums do you go to to only ever express flattery and praise for Unfrozen and anything and everything they might do, hmm? Would really like to know. Do you also get confused for PR there? I just fail to see what exactly is in it for you, but clearly you want to discourage criticism.
To anyone reading this forum and this thread, you are more than welcome and encouraged to express your opinion no matter what it may be. Oppose those that want to silence you.
That's life advice too.
Nah, as I describe here:

I used to lurk here around 20 years ago, when I was a teenager, under the name kesnar (having killburn as avatar)...Unfortunately that account's password and the e-mail I had back then is long lost....
In any case, I have said so before...I don't mind criticism and I support a lot of it I have read, especially the criticism on graphics being too cartoony, or how the castles having their T7 on them is silly.
I just cant understand why you are so triggered by a name of a faction that is obviously correct, just because it does not match the faction that was in H5. Again this is on Jadame, not on Ashan...
Anyway, I will not continue this little feud. Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion and more than welcome to post theirs in this forum! Good criticism is good, but I believe that fixated criticism on minor things (like the name of a faction) is just plain tedious
Okay, I will retract the things about the account.
I did not want to continue on the subject of faction identity so I took a step back for a while. I have elaborated enough on it anyway. But new people to the thread, like Pollo here, or whoever wants to throw in their 2 cents should not be dissuaded, regardless if they're making the same point. If it were me doing it, I'd risk sounding like a broken record, but you can't hold that against newcomers. If anything I'm more interested in hearing other people's opinion on this because it adds to sample size.
Of course, we can talk about other things as well. Like how we suspiciously stopped with the lineup reveal. If memory serves, that also happened to Temple? I wonder what that's about.

I hope this means I'm getting a horse, with a lonely, gilded, glittering, glorious horn growing out of the midline of its forehead, just above the glabella.

Life happened so a few things got moved around - we're getting there though!

The Murmurwoods awaken! The dwellers of the mana-infused scarlet boughs march to war for survival of their home and in the name of balance as the disastrous conflict engulfs all of Jadame. A union of feyfolk and elemental beasts, the Sylvan faction is here to unleash the power of nature upon their foes who would disrespect the sanctity of their woods! Shoot your enemies down with the aid of Fauns, overwhelm them with the magic of Herbomancers or burn them down with the aid of majestic Phoenixes!

I really like your take on Dungeon, Necro and Temple, but this Sylvan line up in my opinion is so so bad. Maybe because I'm fan of Rampart and the other Sylvan variations, but this thing here is Conflux. There is not even one unit here that has ever been in the Sylvan towns in previous games.
Rampart on the other hand has no unit represented in Olden Era at all. Tower, Fortress and Stronghold have also been abandoned. The fact that Heroes 3 is by far the most loved instalment, tells me that you are taking a huge risk by not including so many factions and units in your game.
Missing archetypal creatures, which some people seem to notice in the comments.
Some portraits look comical, like Aeliniel's is straight up anime.
Sea of red where water's green. Looks like Eastern Plaguelands, but with faeries and elementals instead of toxic undead.
I’m absolutely enchanted. It’s a fresh take that still feels like coming home. Familiar, but reimagined with heart. I love the lineup, the townscreen is pure fairy-tale magic, and the music just oozes that Sylvan vibe. And honestly? I’m so glad they ditched the whole Ashan "Warcraft elf cosplay" bs. For me, this is the best version of a Nature town the series has ever delivered.
Edit : About the biome, I think it could benefit from a richer color palette. Autumn isn’t just red -it’s gold, amber, fading greens... a whole spectrum. Adding those in would break up the current "wall of red" ppl are complaining about while still staying true to the town’s autumnal vibe.

I will say I do like the town and its units. I'm just annoyed it's called Sylvan, because I actually want a Sylvan faction, and this isn't it. That said, if this were called Treetown or something, and we eventually got a proper Sylvan faction, I’d have no problem. The town itself seems fine.
The terrain, however, feels like staring into a red sun.
The interesting thing is that they didn't call Hive "Inferno" but would have been the same thing.

The video is missing two units; one of the Aqualotl upgrades and the base Phoenix.
The town theme is really magical. Love it.
I don't really like the design of the Phoenix. It doesn't click for me, I think it looks too much like a Chicken and it's too tiny/small for a T7 unit.

I know, I read all the comments made yesterday. Vast majority likes what they got. More power to them. Let's see on release.

The missing creatures are called Blooming Aqualotl and Phoenix. They weren't showcased because they don't have finalized stats yet, but their models are visible in the video.
