Quote: Khayman's begining to worry me, he talks to the dead now
Not necessarily, one of the best human interest type stories I ever saw was during the first gulf war. They went to this school and asked a bunch of kids what they thought of Saddam Hussein. All the kids were saying that they really liked him and that he was really nice and friendly and whatnot. They couldn't figure out what was going on until they interviewed one kid and found out his name -- Saddam Hussein.
Now, I don't believe in the innocence of childhood or anything, I mean, let's face it, there is nothing in the universe that is capable of more unmitigated cruelty than a human child, but that one time the kids had it right.

PH, your immigration papers are ready and everything is already arranged for you. Just come on over to the States and move into a nice house in the California suburbs like the rest of the intelligent Brits do. We will have the Starbucks tea and Krispy Kreme crumpets waiting for you.

No,no, I'm not a communist. But the fact remains that communism is the best system for society, if everyone was perfect. It only looks great on paper.
Once again, I am not a communist. But I think we need to take a look at that PH fella...

Did I catch the news right? I heard something on the evening news about the UNSC accepting the status quo in Iraq and voting that the American/British occupation is legitamate?
Anyways I also saw something pretty weird in the papers. The british officer famous for making that "We will be going not to conquer but to liberate" speech on the eve of war, Collins I think his name was has been accused by the americans and Iraquis of pistol whipping prisoners. From what I read the Iraqui witness this is based on was a former informant for Sadam's forces, so not entirely reliable. Collins (?)has apparently been unpopular with american troops under his command for being a strict disciplinarian.
I hope he didn't is all I can say, but either way the evidence against him is doubtful to say the least.

Yah man, evryone starting another discussion about spelling mistakes concerning Iraq or Iraq will be vaporised by my plasma rifle!
On topic: Measures must be taken to ensure stability in Iraq in the short future... Riots and protests happen still on a relatively small scale, but these are bound to get out of hand sooner or later. Does the US presence in Iraq need to be decreased asap, or are more soldiers needed to ensure safety in the streets?

Yes and no. In terms of the british army we learnt in N. Ireland that elite formations like the Paras, marines and heavy tanks were not suited to peacekeeping operations, and were prone to extreme reactions. We therefore learnt that regular infantry were better. That, now that the hard figting is over is what is needed, not elite units.
I'm not saying those there are bad troops, or not doing their job, it's just that they're not the best troops we have for that role, so they'd be better withdrawn and replaced IMO.
