That's right, nothing stands up to a double shooting titan. Besidse, that bow doesn't work on heroes, only creatures. But imagine life getting those. Crossbowmen, ballistae, monks, all will be shooting twice. Wicked! Or cyclops. Whoa!

Death!!!

For these reasons:

1) Skeleton: although it seems weak at first but later in the game when you have more than 600 skeleton they are the backbone of your army since they can withstand range.

2) Imp: can work wonder against creatures that count on their MP like Angel, Devil etc...

3) Vampire: weak to some extent but don't forget about regeneration skill, flying, fast mov and good offence. Also you can get a pile of vampire free through necromancer GM.

4) Devil: can go behind enemy line and say bye bye to hero spell casters. Also they can summon another 4 lvl creature Ice Demon.

5) Skeleton Dragon: with vampiric touch you get the most powerful 4 lvl creature in your army and don't forget: they are skeleton.

6) Spell: what spell is better than Death's Hand spells! With it can take out even the most powerful enemy army. Might heros are goner And kiss it good bye to your most precious 4 lvl creatures (unless you got Blackie).

Life!!!

...as long as you get sanctuary, for then you'll be safe. However, if you dont get sanctuary, you are busted.

Nevertheless, you still have 2 LONGRANGE shooters + a lot of spells to keep them alive and shooting.

Order has lord (my favourite MAIN hero)

Cat reflexes....

I like Asylum very much.

It has very nice magic (lots of good mass creature enchantments)
It has funny hydras, which simply wreak havoc with Cat Reflexes, First Strike and Slayer.
Unfortunatelly those spells are vulnerable to Cancelation, so it's good idea to snipe enemy hero with Lighting Bolt first.

And so forth.

For me its nature.

Why?

1. It has the most creatures.
2. First strike, mass fortune, anti-magic, dragon strength, and many summoning spells.
3. Double tap from wolves and elves, no retaliation from sprites, and first strike from mantises (beats might any day)

Double strike

Double strike (2 attacks) also means that creature won't have full benefit from Cat Reflexes.

If you cast it on wolf you'll get +50% increase in damage.
Cast on minotaur, for example, doubles the damage.

Chaos is algned with nature.

Arrrr. Why ?
Cat Reflexes only add another attack. SO Creature with double strike will strike three times in a row. That's all !

Yes

It's simple. Creature that already has 2 attacks, will gain at most +50 from Cat Reflexes.

Creature which normally has but one attack will gain up to 100% increase in damage.

Moral - Cat Reflexes is best cast on monsters without double strike.

Mine is Order

Order has the strongest overall group organization, genies (which are awesome) are only second best to vampires on an individual basis... titans are great but very difficult to get to with the need for so many resources, so I would have to say its a toss up between Order and Death for the strongest, but Orders units are just cooler..

That's sound like quite a nasty spell combo along with no retal/multiple attack.

and while your heroes are busy casting spells on the hydras, mine dispel or cancel their immo potions and they are dead round 2. Then your hydras can be slowed, blinded, berserked, hipnotized and what not.

I like all the towns more or less equally.  It must be said that some towns like the Necropolis and the Academy can grow impossibly strong during the mid and late game because of their top level spells and other advantages such as increased creature growth and wealth for the Academy and huge stacks of Vampires for the necropolis.

However... the Preserve is a very quick starting town with a great melee hero type (the Archer).  Add summoning and fast creatures to that and you have a dangerous cocktail of might and magic.  I'm not sure how good or bad the creature portal is, my experience with this town is still limited, but one thing is for sure, it's a very good town.

Haven is still my least favorite, though I like the Crusaders and Angels a lot.  The spells are very nice, but I think they're more interesting as a magical skill for an otherwise melee hero such as an Archer or a Barbarian.

I don't play Chaos all that much, it's pretty hard to get started.  Low level thieves stink, and sorcerers run out of spellpoints soon.  I love Chaos creatures though, all of them.  And there are a lot of difficult choices to be made.  I'm sure I'll get to learning to play this town better, but I've never been a huge fan of direct damage spells.

My new favorite town is the Stronghold, where it used to be the Necropolis.  The town is very straight forward and a lot of their troops are just sacrificial fodder.  But that sacrificial fodder pulls you through those first two weeks and leaves you with a level 12 or higher Barbarian.  At that point I usually give my army to a lord, who rides off to gain some experience to get Nobility at Grandmaster.  By the time I break, or reach the enemy, my Barb is usually between level 15 and 20, sometimes has scouting (stealth hehe ), and is pretty much unstoppable.  I'm not sure if others have also experienced this, but it almost seems like a bug to me.  Stronghold rules!

Why Chaos

Hi, This is my first post and I think everyones views and comments are fantastic. There are so many brilliant comments but it would be impossible to agree with all.

My own personal opinion is that nature are best.

Most people will scoff, and I do really appreciate Black Dragons (I mean Chaos), but hear me out. The main point and this cant be stressed to much is 'logistics'. If you move at the MAXIMUM efficiency every time you are almost invincible.

Why nature:

Because: firstly I rarely move below 30 space (ever!). Thats it!

Order is fantastic for the likes of displacement (good bye any ranged unit in a built up castle (is this ultra good or what! nock the dreaded Venom spawn off, replace tham with a few phoenixes or whatever... hey presto) or the whole slow/forgetfulness thing. But the BAD thing is the L1s they are just so slow! You cant get anywhere. And you simply must have Genies (x5 or 6 preferably) for unlimited mass slow/fervour/cofuse/illusion every battle. But they really require the resources tho... shame.

Back to preserve: The sprite.. what a fantastic creature. Fast, great movement and unlimited supply! They are a great scout, great for movement and because of no-retal they are really good for sniping (not much more effective in battles (except for cannon fodder)).

The L2s are just too slow so I don't really bother. Just summon some Satyr occasionally for hero moral.

Now L3. It has to be Griff's (move 30 again + great stats and unlimited retal) and Uni's are too weak (summon for blind).

L4 is difficult but (surprisingly) I tend to go for Phoenixes if I have the resourses usually. They have all the stats (except armour. see later) and fantastic health. Easily improved by def% increase shields or tactics (essential from a reasonably early stage). Rebirth and fire attach and great movement make this a fearsome unit to oppose. F Ds are great but not as good to split because of the cost factor (a genie is a better substitute).

Now for the best bit: the heros:

I think one of the best spells (possibly the best) from a really early stage is: Water elemental. This is just the tops! Raise a powerful versitile (slow on the map) mage that has some of the most useful spells in the game! Easy to summon, OK defense etc. and OK stats.

Its amazing.I have taken on 100s of hydras with a few critters and an OK hero but Water elementals just reduce anything from a good creature to pants in a few goes. Just runn the elementals over to be regenerated (killed then re-summoned with all spell points back) for repeat arse kicking.

I usually complement a beast master (rubbish skill but combat and nature really go well together) with a tactitian (improve my creatures speed attack and add stuff like def%+ shields, scrolls, moral/luck+ and wands in their free spots). Because you don't want to waste them on your main character.

Path finding is a must at the beginning of almost every turn.

Believe me, travelling 30 almost every turn (using sprites to pick up EVERY THING in sight) un-hindered is a real game winner.

I have done most campaigns available so I have lots of opinions for all creatures, heros, and classes but I could go on for hours (and I'm at work so I would probably be fired!).

I doubt I have helped any of you pros out there but I have enjoyed unburdenning my soul a bit!

Take care all you happy players.

Until next time. Take care.

Edward. Wanna B Lord

Death and Chaos

It's not easy to choose.

Necropolis used to be my fav.
This is simply bcause of the magic and venom spawns+devils.
I always play with black/death, also in similar games to H4 such as MTG. (Don't know why. I'm a christian, too)

But I've discovered that Asylum is quite good.
Especially bcause of the nightmares and the blackies.

But the best is still DEATH (...)
