Checked a page of youor discussion and I'm loling on the floor. The one that told that the book is horrible & sucks etc. Probably didn't read it (probably to small number of images for him). I think the best thing we do is to make thread: "Why LotR is better than all others? "

dude LOTR is the best movie. who cares if smoke can't travel horizontally? and what's up with the anti-violence reason? that was the coolest part of the movie. all of the fighting.

To correct you: LotR: The Two Towers wasn't a good movie. The Fellowship of the Ring was better, and I fear that Return of the King will be even worse (still hoping for the oposite, though..).
And the violence fun? No.
P.S. Why does this thread still live? Are there still people stupid enough not to see the obvious irony/sarcasms? After all the explaination attemts by Nebuka and DonGio, amongst others?

Return of the King might just blow it. They've left out the scouring of the shire and they're gonna put in too much Aragorn/Arwen snow.

The wholeness of the fact is that LOTR the movie really does sux, bad! I'm sorry to say this but it is true. All the books just taking a single page is better than both of the movies out now, the tird is going to be a lovie-dovie-get every female to see me load of Mighty G crap...

And all the bad stuff in the film is based upon the book. And therefore it is Tolkien himself that should be blamed instead of Peter Jacksson...

For being one who claims to know much about Tolkien, you seem quite ignorant to the fact that it's not a triology, even if it is divided into three parts.
BTW, this thread is still one of the most fun ones in the Tavern. Always nice seeing people who don't understand sarcasm...
Agree, Grunan. the films weren't any good. the books are WAY better.

Blame Tolkien? What BS. If Petey should follow every word in Tolkien's books, however, one movie would have lasted 6 hours. And I don't think anyone would base a film on "bad stuff," but maybe Petey just removed too many vitalities to make the movie work.(?)

Nooooooo! The scouring must be in it, or won't see it! The scouring is one of the best parts of the books, with the little men rising up against and crushing the 'big man'... though i doubt John Ronald meant it to be interpreted that way...
