D&D type of games are not good =(

It's come to me that the type of games that I assume a different life, and run around the fake world of fake gods and magical powers are not good games.

HOMM isn't all that bad, but it's not good.

Long live spyro, and crash bandicoot!!

I agree with him. Pretending to be someone else and run around a made up world is a huge waste of time and can lead to obsession, wich is most certenly not a good thing. I think you should be making a differance in this normal world not playing useless games of D&D and wishing that you could do the sorts of things your charecter in the game can do.

But if you are going to waste the time anyway, go nuts!!

I have extremes. Same type alot of evil musicians do. I deal with it the same way they do sometimes too.

Anyways. I was in a good extreme the day I made this thread. We're not meant to be perfect, but if we were we wouldn't play D&D.

I like D&D, but not enough to play. I have enough fun, and feel like theres not enough time.

Absolutely, what's even worse is those people who go on line and make statements under fake names.

IMHO

In my opinion, i just think that ppl who don't like games like D&D aren't open-minded enough or jsut don't have a good imagination.

Imagination has nothing to do with it. It's not like the game is evil or the work of the devil, it's just there are so many
better thing you could be doing with your time.

Yeah, like what?  Playing Heroes IV?  Posting here?

It's just another type of game.  It's no different from, say, Super Mario Brothers.  I just happen to enjoy D&D a lot more.  It's a hell of a lot more social a game than Starcraft or HOMM.

I'm sure D&D is a great pass time so like I said before: If your just going to waste the time anyway go nuts! But you shouldn't make D&D your life. Bottom line is that I know that many people become completely obbsessed with these sorts of games and I don't think that it is healthy to become obbsessed with anything.

Of course, obsession isn't a good thing, but one is no more likely to become obsessed with D&D than they are with, say, Starcraft, or Risk, or Chess, or Go Fish.

granted...

To be fair, D&D (and Everquest, et al) does seem to have a tendency to attract obsessive-prone people.  You see more D&D addicts around than, say, Go Fish addicts.  However, IMHO, that's more a problem with the people than the game.  If they didn't have D&D, they'd find something else to self-destruct with.

The only reason D&D has more weird addicts is because it's a better game, and also that some weird guys just like it because they have no lives of their own. However, this is not at all how the average D&D game works so no bashing ^_^ In fact it is just another very good game, and sure is a better way to spend your time than watching TV or playing computer games since it works on imagination and doesn't get you staring at a screen.
