Ok ok yes I realize. My main question is then this: How did you find where the background was located? I searched the memory and found a completely different address for TBELback, and when i searched the string your location never came up, yet it is the right one. In cheatEngine, if I find a string (let's say hallelem) how do I find the RIGHT address of those characters so that I can plug them into UN:C.

I'd try to make a flowchart, but I'm too lazy...

1. search for a string.
2. If you find a filename you need, go to 4, else go to 3.
3. Reduce letters in filename (i.e. TBELBack -> TBEl). go to 1.
4. Change the filename to some other name.
5. Check for changes in game.
6. If the game crashes or does not change anything, go to 1.
7. If it changed the way you want it, then write UN:C command to change it for you.

Hey thanks for all the help, I think I'm getting the hang of it. Once I have the addresses for every part of conflux I'll make a nice post so others can have a 1-click town change. (Solved new question )

OK new legitimate question: Why I choose my switch out the conflux I would like to rename my new town so the game does not call it a conflux town. I don't think TownType.txt is even in memory as far as I searched, any ideas how to alter things in txt files from memory, I wasn't having luck changing dwellings.txt or bldgspec.txt

Is there a way to make a creature immune to a speciffic spell only? I know you can do this for some spells through stack experience (blind, berserk) but i want to make a creature immune to land mines (i think air elementals work the same).

Does anyone know how to do this?

If I recall right, the land mines/quick sand are visible to creatures native to battle terrain. So a solution would be to change the terrain to theirs if land mines are cast.

Wow, wait... Is it possible to change the creature's native terrain? Because i would like to change the sea creatures' native terrain of my mod to water. Can anyone post an example?

It is complicate. You can change in BA0 the battle background, but when? When one of the heros belong to this faction? What if he has other towns creatures? What if there is other faction hero leading water troops?

If you only want speed bonuses, then change their speed manually if the battle is on water.

I have another question. Is there a way to change a specific hero's rank through ERM? For instance, i want to make Edric (hero no2) to be a Captain and not a Knight. I don't want to change the other Castle heroes (they still will be Knights and Clerics).

If anyone knows how to do this please share.

hello again.. i have two small question because maybe i will retake my mod.. to do this i saw your post and i have the same question

1) can i change the monsters speed in a specific battlefield? dwarves in grass or mages on snow? can you give me a typical example

2) can i change the penalties percent on a terrain? swamp 175% to 200% or 75%?.. thanks

Increase mage/archimage speed by 4(5 with natural ability) when on snow. This will work for Hero of Light too, if he wants to increase his creatures speed on water (change the TR number) so it looks like native terrain.

For hero penalty, it is easy but I am not strong in maths :P

You can control it through HM#, check what terrain is the hero on and add the corrections, 1 step is 100, now have to calculate how much is subtract for different terrain, there are many people around which could help more than me.

There must be another way, but I am not aware of (UN:C miracle?).

The only way I see would be to change a whole faction ranks names, make this faction unavailable in your mod -disable heros as well- then change Edric class. Is it worth?

changes hero class to class number # , which is 0-knight , 1-cleric and so on. This affects herolook on map and battle and class-specific way of getting skills on levelups

I think Hero of Light wants to simply change name of class, and every town will need such change.

It has been done in SoD campaign 'A New Beginning' with Gem, where her class is sorceress.

solitaire345 was right that is what i wanted but OxFEA's suggestion didn't work on me... again. It seems that his ERM commands rank higher than my comprehension so...

Actually, the idea could be a nice addition for all the heroes. If you can change the hero's rank at will you could make it work like H4. For instance you can make it Castle's heroes:

Level 1-8: Squire
Level 9-16: Knight
Level 17-24: Lord

and combine it with a special bonus given. But anyway, that's only an idea, i thought i'd share.

As for the +1 speed bonus on water, i see that it is quite complicated as well and since i want this to be done for 7 creatures i am sure i will have lots of trouble to apply it and it just aint worth it. Thanks for the reply though.

OxFea script works, but only on ERA, just paste it as it is.



For speed, it is not complicated at all, just add instead of mages/archimages the creatures ID you want. I can make it if you give me the right values, it is only one line change.

I did paste it and it didn't work. It showed me a bunch of ERM script crashes and then into the game, there was no wogification done.

As for the Sea speed bonus, i want to give it to 7 creatures as i said. But if add lines like that for instance:

!!FU|y1<34/y1>35:E; exit if not mage/archimage
!!FU|y1<36/y1>37:E; exit if not genie/master genie etc...

Then it may exit in the first place and don't give the bonus to the second creature. If you can make it work for several creatures then i'll give it a try.
