I promised some gifs to bigjocker, but for some reason my Yahoo won't send them. I'll post them here, then remove the pictures.

They are not mine, of course - "Crystal" and "Pirate" are from Might and Magic, "Warden" was made by Mitzah, "Fire Lizard" (I call it "Salamander" ) and "Ice Magog" by Bofr@, and I think IYY created "Slayer" and "Spider". I am not sure about the "Night Elf" pic, but I believe I found it at JB/WoG gallery page...

EDIT: The first two were obviosly too big and re-sized by HC. If you want them, I'll try to re-send them tonight...?

I used to have many more, but I realized they were unappropriate or simply bad.

You may already have all of these, but just in case...

There's also a fire lizard def, so tell me if you need it.

You must make all movements (all frames of monsters movement)...After that you can pack all frames into the .def


If you create new creature, you must make variety parts of animation. Here's the full list (compare with originals defs using modhomm):

0-Movement
1-Fidgit
2-Stand Still
3-Take Hit
4-Defend
5-Death
6-Death 2 (only used by Beholders)
7-Turn left to front
8-Turn right to front
9-Turn left to back

Donīt know how I havenīt seen these pics before, but man almost all of them look very good. I especially like the dragonmaster by K1ng, could be the second commander for dungeon..?? Demon monk looks also nice, though the name could be something else. Matches with inferno very well.
Warden I hope to see in 3.59 too as a commander. btw, is it fully animated yet, does anyone know?
Ice magog, well it looks nice, but could have something different from the old magog other than just the colors. Also, what if he shoots icebolts instead of those crystals or smth? And the name should be different too.
And finally that slayer is really nice, could go with castle or be neutral. Also the name, slayer just sounds too usual. Maybe assasin or something, I donīt know.

Imo night elf doesnīt look that cool. When I picture him in the, for example, green battlefield, the colours just donīt fit. Maybe black?

Have you created all the graphics for the town buildings and creatures too?

Ideas are great, but that's only about 1% of all the work needed. The graphics are probably another 50% and the coding and testing would be another 49%. (Well, these are just approximate guesses.)

The WoG team's resources are also rather limited and we have no funds either--it's all completely volunteer and no team members are rich (that I know of). The group working on the Egyptian town and the group working on the Forge town are both independent groups and not part of the WoG Team (although we now have a representative of the Egyptian town group in our team).

Also, please realize that the coding (by Slava) for new towns hasn't even been attempted yet (the WoG Team has no source code for Heroes 3 so it's not always easy). We're still waiting until a new town is finished and then Slava will attempt to write the code needed to integrate it into the game. While I think Slava will make every effort to do this, it's still not 100% certain that it can be done. We'll have to wait and see.

Another issue is that there's an absolute limit of 255 creatures in the game (without having the source code to change this). Even with just two towns and some new neutral creatures we'll be pretty close to the limit. So three towns may be completely impossible. There may be some way around this...but we're not sure yet.

I don't mean to discourage you, but the reality is that without the graphics, they're just nice ideas. With full graphics, there are possibilities for sure, but still nothing definite. If you have graphics for your towns and creatures, please let us know. Otherwise, you may want to post your town ideas in this or other forums and see if anyone with graphical expertise is interested in developing them (but it usually seems that such people prefer to develop their own ideas instead).

so, are you saying that if there are graphics ready, would you consider to add those into game?

EDIT: ya'now i was thinking something, i don't know if anyone else had this idea, or is it even possible, but i'd like to share it anyway. there are some stuff over the internet that you can download for strategy games, such as fan-made files and other modifications. so i was thinking is it possible to create such patch for homm3, something like 'WoG Unit Replacer' . something that would require a def file and a ERM script file in a certain folder, so a player could put his or her own creation into the game. if such patch could be possible, the homm3 and WoG fan websites would be filled with these files to download, just like fan-made maps. i know there is a 255 unit limit but since it's just a replacenment, would it also take some space out of it? dunno, but it'd be really cool, don't you think? because there are alot of fan-made units, and some of them are really cool! still, i'm not sure whether this could be possible or not?

Good creature animations are always considered by Slava and the team. And I expect that a full set of town graphics would be considered too (even though it's not yet known exactly how well it can be integrated).

Any creature DEF can be replaced with another and of course you can set quite a number of creature stats and abilities through ERM, using either the MA receiver (for basic stats and a few flagged abilities) and/or the stack experience system for many additional abilities (although not all can be added that way yet).

H3sprite.exe lets you insert a DEF file and replace another one so you can already do this if you have a complete set of graphics. If you're replacing a creature, you won't be using up any new creature spaces, but then you lose your original creature, so it has somewhat limited usefulness at the moment.

But for the future...who can say?

Nobody will sue anybody - there are hundreds of mods available on the Internet.

Night elf looks cool, based on Blizzard's WarCraft. I think you can do animation. A lot of building in wog (empty buildings) are from games.

I like this one! It's much better than the Pyro... probably because you should draw less yourself and combine the existing creatures more. I'm not saying you're a bad artist, but if a creature is too different, it will not fit in.

What do you call it?

I was going to do absolutely new Pyro,but Ziel didn't like that so I made Pyro from older frames.

Hmm, cool. Motaro (I've seen mortal combat) . Try to do Serapis (half-hell steed and half-efreet sultan) . I wanted to make animation, but I'm so busy etc. Your pyro is horrible, but Motaro, wow. Call this Serapis, Serapis is better than Motaro. Motaro is like mutant or name don't Heroes "style". But I've seen a bug-hand of Mutaro are too much pixel.
