Guess thats my prob, I have an outrageously high ping with everyone except Aussies, and I dunno any that play h4

lol, Data transfers were a problem for me
If its longer than 1 minute, I got a big problem with it. And even when I played someone who also had a cable connection it was almost never under 1 min for data transfer.
Im with Rych on this one...too much wasted time waitin for data to transfer.

I dont understand your logic. HoMM is a game where every game lasts hours. So lets say the game lasts 4 weeks. that's 28 days. The data transfers the whole game have been 1 min, and you would like them to be only 30 seconds. The difference in total time between the game with 1 min transfers and the game with 30 second transfers is... 28 minutes. So assuming the game lasted 4 hrs, the game would have been 3 hrs and 32 min instead of 4 hrs. At least to me, there is essentially no difference between 3 hrs 32 min and 4 hrs. Even if the transfers were an entire minute slower than you would like them to be, you're only saving 56 min off that 4 hrs, which still isnt very much, considering that with maps these days the games usually last closer to 6 hrs than 4 hrs.
It seems to me, that the transfer argument is just a bullsnow excuse that players who were good in H3 use because they are afraid they will suck at H4.

seems to me that the good H3'ers are too scared to even try H4 MP, scared they will no longer be in the top rankings... come on andi, jump in! The water's not so cold... there's no sharks in there...

Come back JB and play h4. You are already waiting 4-8 minutes a turn for your opponent to finish playing. What is one more minute. Just be constructive with your time inbetween turns like starting a Zud clothing drive so we can get him to put some clothing on while playing heros

understand.....I LIKE h4! but lets compare transfers how they really are lol. H3 = 10second transfer maximum (unless ping drops suddenly) H4 = best I could see me doing on a dial up loop to australia is 5 minutes (realistically). Lets say a 28 day game which is 14 send/receives per week (56 send receives) 56 x 5min is 280min or nearly 5 hours is just transfers!
Now if you think that is feasible, you are the one who isnt being serious.

Ya gotta lay off ol Andi-active-maker. Judgin by the lenghth of ole andi's turns ya gotta know using a keyboard and mouse is an effort him. You should applaud the amount of work that must go into his posts!! Never the mind the amount of TIME!!!!!!!! Then again, no one ever gave a rats @ss about the time i put into some games against him waitin fer his turn to end!! hehehehehe
ps....... still not sure what this all has to do with the strategic importance of chaining in homm3 games as pertains to a players ability?

Chaining wasn't so bad, although it annoyed me that i had to wait like 10 min for a turn in some games ><.
I think heroes III is much better than heroes IV will ever be, it's just my opinion, main reason why I stopped playing heroes is the huge disappointment i had from Heroes IV 
And Jinxer, I just gotta say, you got raped by Motor's arguments . I mean even a newb like me could remember Giant War. It didn't take a degree in astrophysics to realize that you can clear that week 3-4 with a bit of an effort
And andi man, learn how to argument an opinion for christ sakes.:0
