I agree, it sounds like a wonderful idea.  Because as it is they can be way to powerful and unbalancing.  For example we are sure to meet up with Oracle in clan finals in round 2   confident to win round 1  hahahaha.  anyways, they got 2 artifacts which each gives alot of men.  There bonus lets them pick any map, so all they gotta do is pick BFH and rush in on day 4-5 and game over.   That is just an example how the artifacts need to fit the bonus.

So my point was yes I agree that the artifacts need to just enhance there bonus not give them Armageddons Blade on day 1 so to speak

Artifact rule to be set in stone.

So... homm4 clan artifacts will just enhance clan bonuses, kind of like 'leveling up' your philosophy.  Should there be the regular 'creature or artifact bonus' type artifacts at all then?  Perhaps that should stay in the realm of division artifacts, and keep clan artifacts unique in that it is for improvement of the specific philosophy type only.

Idea sounds good

I like the idea of the bonus being added to the clan philo.  It is nice and even it seems to me.  I like the idea of not having to decide which member gets what for which round, although this does eliminate some tacitcal planning as well.  Lastly, as clans get more powerful through their wins then people will still begin to cry foul I would imagine.

Unfortunately there are ALWAYS some that cry foul. Stronger and active clans will rise in power, while weaker clans will be disbanded as their members lose interest...

Isn't it the same now?

Seems like it to me.

The bonus expansion I like for the fact that you don't have to decide who gets what like I said.  However, again that has the drawbacks in tactics as I mentioned as well.

Ideas for philosophies

I can pretty much guarantee there will be another knight philo and another archangel philosophy, which will follow homm3 attributes, since they do not directly affect gameplay.  But beyond these two, we should consider at least 1 philo centered on each town, and several philos centered on an artifact/hero/creature and gameplay style.  I would have to say the last there would be only founded when we know a lot more about the gameplay of homm4.

Archangel clan

Seeing as the archangel philosophy requires an honor medalist, will that mean that until some honor medals are awarded during season 4 that philosophy would be inactive?

I think that philosophies as powerful as the griffins and demoniacs should not exist, at lest the bonus should be reduced greatly, see this year's "playing without bonus" issue.

Too powerful bonuses will unbalance the clan system, thus careful weighing should be made before the philosophies are created... This might take a while after the game is released.

asylum clan, archangel

Archangel will probably not need the honor medal.  This clans discussion here is to devise several philosophies and agree to them before they get fixed to homm4 TOH.  So eg. griffon or deamonic types can be wiped out or reduced in strength.  Hell, we dont even know if there will be speed artifacts, armageddon, and the closest deamonic gets to a town is the chaos town.

About asylum, yes there will be a philosophy for every town type, so one for asylum at least.  Question will be what its benefits will be besides automatically starting with that town.

CLAN MAP RESTRICTION

I think the maps allowed to play clans games is the real key to make people feel the map like his clan home. In order to made this I propose to make only 1 map per phylo wich have clan creatures terrain bonus and perhaps some creatures home clan dwelling. About a solution to promote clan wars the solution may be make some maps that make 3 or more players play as allied. That was the clan phylo in real life works, (Not one-on-one war) and perhaps a first game were both clan leaders fight for a bonus or choose map , colour or something else. And finally should be a big allterrain class map to fight like arena or other issues and disputes.

map restrictions

Actually, it looks like for homm4 clans, there may be no map restrictions, and not even a maps list.  Players will have more freedom choosing any map to play for homm4 clans.  (At first, being maps from the CD, until TOH maps start popping up).

To attempt to make a custom map for a clan, especially when homm4 comes out is futile, since we wont know half of what homm4 gameplay is like until we sink our teeth into it for a while.

Force a clan war

Every 2 or 3 month there should be a scheduled forced clan war (World Cland War): (You can get some things with this schedule)

1.- Dissmiss inactive clan (if not do in a dead line day).

2.- Force clan that don't ever fight to fight any time between them.

3.- Force archenemies war.

4.- Add a rules that reads more or less: Any clan that don't fight at least 8 clan wars and fight at least 4 diferents phylos cannot pass to finals.

And points in this forced clan wars count like 3 or 4 times more than normal points.

5.- Last battle final a philo war paired in enemy-archenemy like final forced clan war.

CLAN OBJECTS --- MAPS DIFF.

I have no idea how may objects works in h-4, so better think in clans benefits based in creatures, town choices, recurses, or some hero benefits.
If u set 200% diff as clan map diff, may be lesser phylo like skeletons and other like hydras would more appreciate that now in actual rules they are. Skeletons should not be force to retire if play in 200%.

Peiper...

You miss one point.

People play this game for fun, they enjoy the freedom the tournemant provides... If they are forced to play games they will not play them, or if they will then it would stop being fun for them.

People don't play this game all the time(I should know, i play when in the mood). Some people play a game a week, others don't play for a year then play 50 games a week. So keep it as it is... If the clan is inactive for more than 60 days, disband it.

clan inactivity - limits

Currently if a clan is inactive for more than 45 days, it is usually disbanded.  The rule will probably carry over to homm4.

What was the key was gauging how many clans could be in one philosophy, which was 3 in homm3.  Depending on how many philosophies we have in homm4 clans (probably about 15) with the increased anticipated activity, there will most likely be 4 clan slots available to a philosophy.

Giving limits to a philosophy allows greater distribution of clans, and more competition for open slots and in a sense, an increased demand.  Otherwise you would have a bunch of one-man useless clans.

When homm4 TOH opens, the clan finalists of this season will have first pick of a clan spot if they wish one; though some may be grumpy about that, take note that what we will know of homm4 when it comes out is quite little, and what we might think to be a powerful philosophy might turn out to be a wimpy one the more we understand the gameplay

Jinxer - if I had to chose between hydra bonus for every game and 30 pegasus + 30 grand elves for one game I`d chose 100% of the time the hydra bonus.   Our 2 artifacts are useless almost and that`s not representative of Oracles`involvement in Clan tourney.  The goal is participation, not sitting on his ridiculously strong starting bonus in wait for the finals to starts.

I like the idea of bonuses added to philosophy.  For archangel philo it could be: decide game difficulty?  decide starting heroes?  Decide opponent`s starting color?

Zedrin you are right but missed one thing.... too :-)

Imagine that all clans have some member that only play once per month or even less, Why the hell he enters a clan?

He don't need to enter a clan to play this one month game he has another tournament and a sigle TOH game.

I assume that clan members are 'maniacs' (in the sweet meaning sense) of game and play at least one game per week. I don't think they care to play a forced game, specialy if this game is a

I think a big part of the problem has been in that clan games are counting this season for ToH rankings points. To some the points are all important and the fear of losing them to a player with a greater bonus is enough of a deterrant to keep them from playing at all - or this is where it comes up that players have been playing without their bonus just with the hopes of finding a game - which ultimately kills the spirit of the clans in the first place. I think the setup from season 2 might increase activity as well as have the bonuses being played with as its intended.

Also i think the idea of keeping the earned bonuses in the theme of the clans is excellent!  that would really enhance the feel of the clans and the fun in playing!

'Course I'm easy, prolly go along with whatever comes up

to be or not to be

So... this is a critical part of the Clans system:  Should clan games count also for TOH main points?

I believe they should, assessing from overall activity of clans in season III, they were more successful due to that fact.  Players who 'fear' losing main rankings points in clans should not participate in the clans in the first place.  And if youre confident in your skill, and your clan bonus, then there should be no fear.

Unless there is massive disagreement, clan games will count for TOH points for homm4.
