Tobias said: Hello
I've been playing HotA for a couple of weeks now and so far I've done ok. But a few days ago I started the third campaign and I just cant get passed the first scenario "Frontier". Has anyone got some hints or strategies to share with me?
Usually I just get stomped by the green player when I sail through the border guard on the left side of my castle.
Thankful for all the help I can get.
*Spoiler alert for 'the frontier'.
I started today and I found myself reloading quite a few times.
In the early game you should avoid green when possible, his army will outshine yours in anyway and I found no way of rushing him down on time, It is better to avoid the border left of your castle and take the right border, freeing a hero on the way and trading your artefacts with the seer huts. Obtain the pink cove castle which shouldn't be to hard and work your way towards the top area of the map, You'll see a prison which is guarded by crusaders, use the hero to open a border gaten southeast of the map, use your main hero to capture the green castles (likely you lost your staring cove castle at this point towards green's overpowered hero).
Now it get's tricky.....I found the spot of the grail but there is a 'welcoming' comite waiting for me there with some very strong red heroes, I cannot beat them in anyway (lots of archdevils) and they won't met me dig up the grail, Have to find a solution for this :/
This campaign is fun but boy is it hard

I'm sorry if this is a question that has been asked many times, but I can't find the answer.
- The updates come once a year or more often? Do you think we will get a new faction, or not really?
btw, if any developer reads this, I am ready to give a donation

So far there has been a traditionally New Year's big update (with new creatures, artifacts, campaign, etc), while through the year they release small upates, usually bug fixing and other minor stuff.

All depends on the team's enthusiasm. And on our vision of what is good for the game at each stage. Fixes come definetely more often than once a year, new content usually spreads between patches and content-releases. However, we plan to separate it a bit more. Making content releases bigger while fixes come more actively and urgently (even if without new content). That won't touch 1.4.3 though - it will be a good old fix-content-release
As for donations - we do not accept any kind of financial reward. It is a principal point for the project. An occasional "thank you" in combination with spreading the word about the project is enough. In future we may accept some help in form of paying for servers and such)

thank you very very much for your work. You guys are honestly what is keeping heroes of might and magic alive. (in contrary to Ubisoft who are slowly killing it)... so thank you. I have definitely spread the word and continue to do so. And if you need help in anything at all, don't hessitate to let me know.
thank you

QUESTION FOR DEVELOPERS AND EXPERTS IN MODDING
Is there any tutorial to learn to modify the graphic menus and buttons of the game?
I have translated the mod Hota to my language, Spanish, but I need to modify the menus.
And one more thing: Is there any campaign editor? I do not know how to translate the campaign into another language. Thank you very much!!!

You can change HotA graphic in the way as any other versions of H3 - by software like MMArchive (open HotA.lod file). Campaign editor is not available for the moment.

Thanks for the reply.
I know that the files are in .LOD format, but I need a tutorial to edit the characters, icons and menus shading. I use programs like Photoshop, but I do not know the concrete steps that must be done to edit icons.

simultaneous turns option
Is it possible to have simultaneous turns while playing a multiplayer game of HotA?
I have seen this mentioned somewhere in the patchnotes but can't seem to find how to turn it on.

You need to install the lastest HD-mod version. Game options > More options > Simultaneous Turns. Simultaneous Turns are only available with HotA.

Are there still plans for simultaneous turns to work for more than 2 two players? I'd very much like to see this implemented one day.
Also, I want to say that patch 1.40 (1.42) has been a lot of fun to play. The Town Gate adds a lot of dynamic to the game. There's just many more possibilities of play with it being in the game, which makes the game more interesting to me. And the rough terrain feels even more unique with the Watering Place added now. It's just cool when different types of terrain offers some unique stuff to explore. And getting +2 knowledge or power at the Colosseum of the Magi can really boost the magic prowess of your heroes at no gold cost.
The Ancient Lamp is super rare, though, so it has not made much on an impression on me at this point. But it seems like a powerful object if you find it very early on, at least.
Although I respect SoD by itself, I, too, find it hard to play without the HotA expansion nowadays. And do please remember to take care of your enthusiasm, so that you don't wear it down. Just remember to enjoy yourself, too, with it.

In nearest future 1.4.3 update is expected. It will introduce mainly bugfixes, but some new content as well. Among the latter is the new neutral unit (third HotA's neutral overall) - Leprechaun.
The image of leprechaun can be tracked through the whole classical series. In Heroes II and III it danced in Mystical and Magical gardens, in Heroes IV it became a full-fledged battle unit.
In HotA Leprechaun comes as a 3rd lvl unit with average characteristics but a comparatively high weekly growth. During battle it can cast «Fortune» spell on advanced level on friendly creatures. Sometimes, after being recruited in an external dwelling, it can unexpectedly turn the tides of battle to your side.

Nice job!
Still, I would make it level 1 just like H4 version and Halfling. They look pretty small and their ability is hardly useful.
