You're right. It should be it's own expansion with it's own campaign. It should be easier cause there already is basis of unused one for original AB.

Forge related content, is better with only some creatures and a building like Dragon Utopia., not a town.

What about bringing back the City of the Dead? Some kind of undead dragon utopia in the desert. I'm really missing that object!

@ archdruid: me too. i tried making that object for homm3 using the homm2 def, and it... didn't work out. of course, it's been quite a while since i tried. of course, that's just the graphic. but it'd be easy to program, i think.

Very cool object in deed. HotA recreated many of H2 objects, I think it's a matter of time.

I absolutely agree... visitable map objects and artifacts would be my first wish to be added. As addition: finally a balace for useless secondary skills, and or an addition of some more skills would be awesome, same as new heroes for every town from a HoMM1+2 pool.

Not a big fan of Steampunk, if Forge were added Id rather it be scifi, even if the art is completely different from the NWC one. Not only is it overused and unfitting, but makes no sense lorewise (the closest to steampunk is in the Tower faction.)

Or a mix between Mummies, Gold Golems and Bone/Ghost Dragons (The City of the Dead reminds me of Hamunaptra from The Mummy).

Hey. From time to time i hear complains about unbalanced skill system. There are almost 30 secondary skills but almost all the time we take the same 10-15. Maybe few diffrent for secondary hero ( like estates). Rest of them is quite useless and only thing we can do is to pray that we won't be forced to choose between those after rank-up.
Here are my few ideas how to update useless skills to make them more useful (not OP) :
- First Aid - First problem is way to low amount of HP - very easy to destroy. It might increase with getting better with this skill. 75hp / 100hp / 125hp / 150hp for non / basic/ advanced / expert or just change from 75 to 125 or even more. Secondly it might heal a bit more: from 25/50/75/100 to 50/75/100/125.
And now the main change: It should be able to remove negative spells form out units. As the name says, it should heal our unit not only from wounds but also from sickness ( where sickness means slow, curse, misfortune ...)
Basic level could work like "dispel" - removes all ( possitive and negative spells )
Advanced - remove only negative spell from our unit
Expert - remove only negative spell from our unit but works for few units ( range like fireball - 7 hex )
I guess it would work really cool, and make it more popular. Might seem pretty OP at first but we need to remember that it still got not much hp. It could work cool for heros who are not good at magic - in some way might counter for mass slow.
- Learning - should go from 5/10/15% more exp to 10/15/20% + maybe extra 1 point of attack/defence/power/knowlage every few levels - similar to "Enlightenment" from HOMM5
+ Do you consider adding new secondary skills for HOTA? Adding "desertion " or "badluck" (opposite to leadership and luck) seems pretty natural, specialy when HOTA developed that system with items.

They are not useless, playing with the lesser good skills is also part of the game for me. The most creative games I had were with those skills.

I've already balanced the secondary skills perfectly, so you won't hear me complain about that anymore.

And how you did that (technically and what balance changes)?
Can you maybe make a new thread for that and link it here (since it might be offtopic and I can't receive PMs, cause I'm unable to login)

@Serp I can do that, but I'm not at home right now, but I can make a new thread tomorrow with my changes, also changed some spells.
Be aware that everything gets reset with the new HotA update though, so it might be worth waiting till it comes unless you wanna do it twice. You can look at the thread "How to edit HotA" I learned a lot from that.

Would be interesting to see what is "ok" to you, but in another thread pls...
As for steampunk, works out for me at least magic/tech stuff like the shadow run ruleset P&P.

Steampunk is an interesting and fitting idea for the Forge. Something like "Arcanum of Steamworks and Magic Obscura" maybe with elements from "Rise of Nations:Rise of Legends"(Such as elements from Da Vinci's concepts/ideas)?

To be honest I don't expect any towns in near future... my personal guess is: they're already building a town in the background from time to time in very little steps. As for the direction of the town itself: I would imagine it's a desert town. But this is all just speculation.

O hope you're wrong, as there already is Oasis that we'll get soon. Also there was no plan of desert faction is their initial plans and others that did were all very interesting. Hota and MDT should talk about adding Oasis into HotA. That would be dream come true.

They did, but the discussion fell short for some unfortunate reason.

One issue with having a desert town is that the Sand terrain is kinda supposed to non-native to all of the towns, unless you have the Lodestar built. Or by other means, like having a Nomad in your army.
I suppose a way to preserve this aspect could be to make the desert town neutral. That is, you cannot pick it as a starting town on random maps. But this might also be seen as being too wasteful.
Anyhow, this is just one aspect on it to consider that I wanted to point out.
