..damn, it was long.

The human being is not perfect. One of the fundamental philosophical laws is never to have 100% assurance. So I almost not belive in god.
But, I m saving in my mind a few %, wich I can use when meet  saint Peter.

No, it is not a adapt, this is a possition. Maybe the best possition, but only with 99.9(9) assurance again.  Etc.

I beliving in god, becuse I want to get to the Heaven. If yo stopp beliving in god you will never get to Heaven, you will get to Hell than. For me (no offence) you are an infidel becuse you don't belive in god. We have only one God. He let's to the Heaven the people only who belives in god. Belive in god!

EDIT: Bixie? Are you a shaman? Shaman sounds sooooooo primitive!

One can easily argue that Bixie does beleive in God. For him it is Gaia or any god that he recognises as a supreme god. In the Bible God said that you should not recognise any god over me. He never said anything about worshipping lower deities.
And why do you believe that being a shaman sounds primitive. Is it because it is so old of beleive. Well Christianity is not a young religion and there are other religions that are older like Hinduism and it is not primitive.

Now I am in a more serious mood so I will reply in a proper manner. You really have no idea what christianity is all about do you? What you are saying is that God would rather take hypocrites that are disrespectful to others rather that good persons that follow his teachings and sacrifice themselves for what they believe. Don't tell me you really believe, it's just convenient for you because you think you will be to heaven if it really exists anyway. Unless you believe that God will be fooled by your following his worship. The path to heaven lies in one's soul...

I am just wondering how many Christians here have read the Bible fully. I met a lot of religious people who never read their holy books and only go from what they been told by their priests.
Which is sad because this opens these people to manipulation by religious leaders.

Well I don't think that the answer to the question why do you beleive there is heaven.
But I can see that you are one of hardcore believers.

Because someone told you?

Geez Ashrah have you ever considered the possibility that you may be wrong? Maybe you think you are the chosen one that can see what nobody else can? Yes many people are weak-minded and unwise maybe even fanatical but be sure that they can be either believers or atheists just the same. And if you admonish and make fun of them then what have you really achieved? To look like a jerk? To have proven your superiority maybe? One does not have to be an atheist to find fun and his true purpose(if there is one) just as he does not find it by being a believer.

In any case to me you look just as close minded as the ones you hate, especially with the way you act.

(don't know the word, it's a person that goes around the doors of people telling them to believe in god.)

An evangelist?

I think evangelism (and its non-Christian counterpart) can be unhealthy if practiced zealously. On one hand, these acts of reaching out to the other side can be seen as trying to "bring them to their senses", which can be with good intent. On the other hand, however, these acts of dissuasion can also be considered hurtful to them. I personally think many people are guilty of being overzealous; myself included. I carried out a failed attempt at evangelism two years ago that left me regretting it very much. Like Kirk Cameron, I see things more clearly now.

Honestly speaking, I'd be careful about dissuading Christians or other religious people. People need these beliefs for many reasons, among which are consolation, strength for the everyday, and hope for the future. Attempts to break them away from these beliefs will almost certainly cause them frustration or even trauma. So no matter how confident you are in your own beliefs, it helps to stay mindful of how others feel. It's the more peaceful alternative.

Also, try not to let differences in beliefs taint your opinions of others. People can still get along well despite differing opinions. If people of different faiths or beliefs can find ways to live together peacefully, it's admirable.

You have the power of perception, the ability to perceive things that you believe very strongly about and project that belief positively to promote change. Take all that frustration and do the proper research to support your views and then come to those that want to know what you think and teach them what you have learned. I think that you will find the results a bit more positive.

God does exist.

Yet in many ways God cannot exist.

It's a paradox, but that is truly what defines God. A contradiction to the proven and an explanation to the disproven.

The further we travel down the road of contradiction, the closer we are to the explanation of the disproven.

there is a think tank told to me by a little bird (he is a ex-metalhead who is called falcon) that the idea of one god is true, but it aplies to all deities. this "god" isn't named but is the energy of life. so whatever you want to call him or her, Gaia, God, Allah, he thinks that this energy is all of them and none of them.

i'm sorry if that sounds confusing so i'll try and phrase it differently.
1) there is a force of energy that keeps the universe alive.
2) it is existant in all thinks, be they with or without life.
3) we, as humans, don't want to worship something without a face, so we call it god, gods, godesses, goddess, creator (etc)
4) no matter how many gods we worship and no matter how hard we try and bring it down, it exists and we are part of it.
5) once we die, our souls get reincarnated.

of course, i looked at is as i veiw all religions (with interest). maybe he was right. that still didn't stop me from doing what i wanted, though. so i bid him good-day, picked up fluffy the hamster, and sacrificed him to another myriad of gods.

btw: KD, it may be primitive, but its my choice to be a shaman.

In belgium and holland (and probably canada too) there are already good laws and religion can't interfare here. But in other countries they use religion in their laws... Moslims for example...

acutally, religion provides a solid base for most laws.

think of all the stuff in most constituions and laws, in britian, holland, belguim, germany, france (most of europe). fundalmental laws like "murder is a crime" and "theft is a crime" is derived from the ten commandments "thall shalt not kill" "thall shalt not steal". people may not use their religion as exact laws, but we use them as a base for most of our rules in modern society.

However I agree to some extend with the idea expressed by falcon.
I think Einstein once questioned by a rabbi about him not following certain religious practices of Judaism said that he saw God differently. He saw him as of creator of laws of nature and it was his job to discover those laws.
Well something along those lines. I forgot where I put the biography book so it might have been shipped to my new house.
So one could say that God is programming force behind the universe's laws whether those are biological laws (such as evolution) or physics such as gravity or etc.
As for the religions interfering with laws, well depends how you see things. Our current laws developed from Judo-Christian traditions and so are laws are influenced by the religion. Well the 10 Commandments are laws in all western countries just not phrased the same way.
Don't really remember coming across tings such as believe in God or die in the Bible or Koran. I believe that if you deny the Holy Spirit's existence than you go to hell part was there.
I also don't remember anything about praising Muhammad in Koran either.
I don't see anything primitive in pagan religions. I study history of stone age civilization and could safely say that one should not call those people primitive.

I hate sacrifices. Why kill a living being whether you consider it inferior or not? What purpose does it serve?

About the afterlife...who knows? Personally I don't believe in it but being a logical person I cannot overlook anything just because I feel it doesn't/cannot exist. Many or rather most people feel things are in a certain way only to see they were wrong later. And history repeats itself, numerous such examples. An instinct does not provide evidence as far as I am concerned.
