Oh man, what?? Tekken all the way!!
I think Tekken has more combos than SF, no?
But these days there are plenty fighting games involving second energy bar with more awesome effect (like Naruto's chakra). It seems people enjoy that kind more.

Quote: @Death: Wow... that's advanced cheating
Would be fun to assign like a, 60 hit corner combo to a key You know, cuz when they're in the corner you know they won't move any further backwards.
I don't own any Street Fighter games yet... would be pretty nice for Guilty Gear though
As a one time thing that is, I like learning things on my own.
Yep pretty advanced cheating*, it can work for any game (after all the script just does is "send keystrokes to the program" (i.e when a key was pressed)).
* - I don't call it blatantly cheating like, e.g: hacking the RAM, because it's just a method to let the computer perform speed-tasks -- meanwhile I decide when to use them (i.e tactically)
I uploaded Ibuki's scripts here (it's easier to learn in 'practice' than 'theory', but remember that the script has some "advanced" or "intelligent" stuff to make it more comfortable when playing (such as not accidentally doing repeated combos)). The functionality is explained in comments (stuff in the code on a line after ';').
The 'common.ahk' file is common to all characters (it does mostly motions such as Half-Circles, Quarter-Circles (I didn't need Full-Circles yet but it'll be useful for Hugo, for example) and the Super-Arts motions functions). It is 'called' by the Ibuki script (that is the one you need to run).
It might help if you also had SF3 to test it and see how it works (easier to test it in 'practice'). Try GGPO emulator
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?h3uttybz4my
BTW: of course you'll need AutoHotkey to run it.

I don't really care that much, I only care about cool moves

Oh please, topics like "what's the best game?" or "X vs Y" are pretty pointless IMO. You could say what's your favorite, that makes sense.
And I'm tired of people bringing how much it sold into discussion. For one games are pirated, and most importantly two, that doesn't always say anything about the quality. If a game is played by the majority who are 'average Joe's and probably don't even know how to play a complex game correctly, it doesn't mean the game is excellent. In my opinion it is quite the contrary, since I like complex games, but the majority will always be impatient, inexperienced people, who don't like a complex game. Just look what's more popular: fast-paced RTSs, or TBSs?
So this topic should IMO be "Fighting Game discussion", or "Your favorite Fighting Game"
And my response on that topic would be: I'm not a big fan of fighting games, played Mortal Kombat Trilogy and 4, and Street Fighter 3. Well they were pretty interesting, can't say they didn't entertain me, but weren't really that exciting either. From time to time I may like to play them but they're definitely not my favorite genre.
And yes that's all fighting games I played, no Tekken and no Soul Calibur.

Asheera# Theese kinds of favorite "X" game is just ment to discussion of the "x" kategori! If i didn't make this poll, no one would discuss fighting games unless another peson got the same idea as me..
BTW if you are tired of Polls like theese, then just ignore them!

No, the polls are good, they show what the majority from this forum likes (and unfortunately this thread is not even a poll) But that doesn't mean the winning game is the best fighting game. That's all I've said. This thread is not worthless, we can discuss fighting games overall, but posts regarding the number of sales are pretty useless IMO. That's all.
Now for a general Mortal Kombat question: why the heck did they make every character perform moves in different ways? Why couldn't they just make everyone follow some move-pattern?

Oh, sorry, i misunderstood your post ;S..
And i don't really know the difrence between a poll and a topic?
But yes, it's useless to talk about how much the games did sell, and how popular they where, but that was just my way to say that i don't bellive people hwo says that they don't know tekken or/and street fighter

I think my post is pretty obvious. Mortal Kombat forever!!!
I mean real MK, not MK vs DC children stuff they sell today.
Quote: Now for a general Mortal Kombat question: why the heck did they make every character perform moves in different ways? Why couldn't they just make everyone follow some move-pattern?
What do you mean? Special moves and fatalities or just a hits and combos? If first: why not? Different characters has different moves, maybe some of them are similar, like reptile's acid spit and liu kang's fireball, but what about others? Can you find something similar to the scorpion's spear? IMO different moves makes characters unic. And in latest games they all are written in movelist, so it's not very hard to discover them. If second: before Daeadly Alliance each character has a same hit system. Maybe different combos, but it also makes them unic. Don't you think?

In MK:Trilogy, why does Kitana, for example, shoot by pressing forward twice and then both punches when one could do just as well (like in other chars)? And why does Goro shoot in a different way than Kintaro? (I mean, what you have to press)
These are only a few examples.

You are talking about past games, when I'm talking about newest. Yes, maybe it's more difficult in MK Trilogy (I hadn't played it btw), but look in Mk Deception for example. Almost all special moves are doing by two control buttons and then one attack button and fatalities same but 5 control buttons, is it simple? Yes, but there is more simple. In MKSM (Best MK!) to make a special move you need only to hold R1 button and then press an attack button.

Well ok, but as I said I only played Trilogy and MK 4, so I don't know about the new ones.
Still I can't understand their decision on the past games, to make every move complicated like that.

Ooh noo, you can't call it a "REAL" figting gaes if the characters use weapons! Thats why tekken and street fighter is fun (in my opinion ofcourse) But yeah, weapon based fight games is shure fun too, but it's not that cool as beating someone up with your fists...
DOA??! Aren't that game popular because of the characters? (Kasumi & Ayane) Or is it fun? I'd never tried it..

I don't even remember the character's names. I just know that I kicked my roomates tuschi even counter countering his counters and getting a perfect. I was a little obsessed with the game briefly.
As far as I'm concerned hand to hand weapons are fine. When you start getting stuff like Link shooting a bow it's a little out of control.
