Don, bloody well done! Your background is far superior in comparison to the original one. The buildings and unit icons are also wonderful. And I see the hero portraits are well on the way...
Indeed, the Forge should have the Mage Guild, though only three levels of it, to emphasise the "might" side of the town, as Don pointed out.
However, Kastore is *not* a Warlock ( http://mightandmagic.wikia.com/wiki/Kastore ). The character that shares his name in HoM&M 1 and 2 is not M&M III/VII's Kastore (the leader of the Forge faction), as he arrived in Antagarich (not Enroth) in M&M VII, which takes place years after HoM&M II. The one relevant to us is a Sorcerer.

What species is that hero? He doesn't exactly look like either a human or a goblin, and his skin is that of a genie.
Also, apart from Kastore, will his allies Dark Shade, Maximus and Tolberti be included?

Where did you see Kastore here?
And HERO isn't a Cyborg. It's a Genie in some sort of armor.
About heroes in story - I think Kastore, DarkShad and Tarnum will be playable, others will be mentioned.

Before, you said you were planning a campaign. If that's the story you're reffering to, could you, perhaps, give us a brief outline of the plot? (assuming that you aren't completely sticking to the original plot, as you are at liberty to modify it, or, at least, its details)
Originally, following the "evil" M&M VII ending, Kasore launches a full-scale invasion on the entire continent of Antagarich, and most other faction's heroes unite in search for the Armageddon's blade, which, upon being found is used to destroy Kastore's armies.

Yes, this trio are planned to be playable in campaign.
The story follows Modern history of Enroth (planet) after "Good" ending in M&M7 and take plase shortly after events of Armageddon's blade expansion. The Time between MM7 ending and fall of Kreegan empire were filled with spying and planing of operation to get those green thingy.
So In first mission Kastore is involved in some sort of stealth actions to get artifact and bring Havenly Forge to work. He should do it in a secrecy because of Gelu and his Blade.

But wouldn't that make it a bit WoGish?
Secrecy is always involved with a small army or with no army at all.

In that case, Ressurectra's group already has that green thingy (the Oscillation Overthruster) and has used it to activate the portal to an Ancient station guarded by a C.O.R.A.K.
So, you're saying that Kastore would have to steal it from them in order to reactivate the Forge, and that means that players control the Forge faction in the campaign, as opposed to it being the enemy faction in the original AB. Well, that's great news

Yes, Ressurectra's group left the Oscillation Overthruster in dimension gates on surface of Enroth (as we can see in good ending). So Kastore will not go in portal and those... hm... portal room and just take OO out for the Havenly Forge.

I think it will be normal horses because the Forge makes futuristic weaponry.
EDIT: Hey guys, I don't know if you know but some guy called benhur released some Forge graphics... The download site is here: http://www.mediafire.com/?nd0glnyhzgk

Well, I suppose they'll still be riding horses. However, with the technology advanced enough to produce blasters, jetpacks etc., seeing them on horsebacks would be wierd, to say the least.
Also, there's another issue: the war machine. The only officially released information was that the Forge's Blacksmith would be producing a new, unique war machine (makes sense, but the building's name still being "blacksmith" makes no sense). However, no information was released regading the specifics, name, or functioning of this machine. This gives Don and the team freedom to chose whatever they like, but I'd like us to have an opportunity to voice our opinions, like we did for the level 7 creature.
Now, regarding the Forge heroes, their classes originally were Cyborg (might) and Technician (magic). I don't know if this will be changed, or not.

Might class now is General
Magic class now is Technician ( )
It makes more sense because not all might heroes are cyborgs and it is a creature name after all (ex Cyber-zombie)
Heroes will ride Normal horses. At least hero speed is equal to speed of his slowest army, so there is no point to ride a rocket while your pyromaniacs slowly stomp throw swamps. And It's a tradition.
We do not think about war machine yet. Actually, we just want to make Vehicle with ammunition (Sorry, I don't know its original name on English) in Blacksmith. It will be very useful for Stingers.

Look at this one. http://img.gamespot.com/gamespot/images/screenshots/gs/strategy/herochron/herochron_screen004.jpg Conflux heroes don't have normal horses. This horse is made from earth and hair on its neck is replaced with fire. So it looks like magma horse.
