Oh right, my bad.
Well still, while I agree Mods rarely are the perfect solution, sometimes they're better than nothing.

Quote: You missed on a lot actually. Try to pick up by reading the news and artwork threads. Too much to mention right now.
For once the news were flowing like a wild river, haunted by a swarm of river spirits...
Oh, I have seen the "Christmas tree" a few days ago, so this is what this is all about?
I personally think that the River Spirit should have BEEN the Water Elemental & removed from Sanctuary and replaced with my Flying Manta Ray or Levitating Electric Jellyfish!
Quote: A river spirit and a the same looking water elemental would make me not buy the game, really i'm serious.
There are enough other cool game coming out, but if they do this I won't buy heroes out of pure protest.
That's the "spirit"
No, but seriously I understand your dislike, and I share your opinion somewhat. Although bigger flaws have been with us throught many HOMMs and we still bought them...just hope once we all get over the River Spirit issue, another annoyance doesn't pop out of the developer's magician hat.
And I think it's a bit too delayed in showing us the actual pictures of Sanctuary creatures...I'd love the lineup completely if the River Spirit wasn't there...
Graphics for H6 in general is looking good though
But I will never forgive the developers for removing 50% of HOMMs most iconic and awesome creatures

I loved the video. The game is awesome. Namtaru really is a cool Boss (she scared me when she jumped). And if the waiting time after passing the turn in this game will be simillar to the one showed on the video this definitely will be my favourite heroes game

I'm pretty sure they are banking on you feeling that way so that you'll buy the expansions that include them. Where is this lookalike Water Elemental everyone is so worried about?

The size of Mother Namtaru compared to other creatures and the way she moved about was indeed nothing short of spectacular.
So the Demons are those who are going to have to fight her? Man, I feel sorry for them already! O wait, that's gonna still be me fighting her... Oh shi---

Oh, I see what you are getting at - I had to track down the leaked artwork again. It seems totally unlikely that they just decided to make them the same unit, so I'd say that's a pretty baseless concern. It seems much more likely that they simply made the River Spirit a Neutral Water Elemental and have just replaced that unit in the Sanctuary.

the video is awesome and all but the sister is named priestess there, so I don't know... maybe at the time the river spirit was called water elemental? Well, I'm not against her, specially because I care most for strategic value than appearance (H5 treants excluded).
But if she's in Sanctuary it is indeed too many water ladies and she can become the elemental and be surely replaced by something equal in strategy but with a more unique feeling.
And this is getting so tiring. The same damn discussion over and over. I really don't get why in the nine hells they can't show us already the faction... Stronghold was shown as 3 artworks in the german site, followed by screenshots of adventure map. We can survive if its not some awesome introductory video about them.

@Hungarest: Thanks, I haven't seen it before.
The game is looking great graphically and the movements are so fluid. And looking at the video I love the surroundings, battlefields etc. And the Earth Elemental is sweet!
@Nightterror: Hey, looking at the video that's a pretty feisty Priestess there and not as defenceless as was thought before

IF they include them in the expansions (highly doubt it, only a few maybe). And they know everyone would buy the expansions anyway, why have ONLY 5 factions in the base game is beyond me...
My fears are understandable/probable, seeing what happened in H5 with many great creatures not making an appearance EVEN with expansions. Although H6 is even worse with only 5 factions
Bone Dragon, Nightmare, Efreet, Medusa, Manticore, Gog, Imp, Faerie Dragon, Gargoyle(a REAL Gargoyle), Venom Spawn, Evil Eye, Waspwort, are all absent in either H5 or H6, the list goes on...

I hope the animations of those Water Elementals/spring spirits isn't final because they look... poor.
but hey I'm in no position to complain when everything else in this game is so freaking awesome!

Since Elvin hinted that the River spirits aren't gone at all and they are mentioned in that preview, I have different theory.
Because of negative feedback that the River Spirit MODEL was to similar to that of the Ice Maiden and Glory in the leaked artwork etc, they turned that model into the Water elemental creature.
However, the River Spirit still stays but it will have a quite different, more unique model that should make fans more happy.
So shortly written, the Spring Spirit model was used to make the Water elemental and the real Spring/Water Spirit in Sanctuary stays but has gotten a completly new model.
Personally, I still think the whole concept of the creature is lame and would much rather have a freaking flying electric jellyfish!

Who comments the video? I just love his sense of humor "So, there is the new dwelling and with it something about the new area-of-control system; but on the left, there are earth elementals, and hey, we could possibly watch a battle." (after 2 former battles and one more to come)
You know, MMH 6 is the first game that makes me appreciate the slight knowledge of other languages besides English. The first info came from a Russian fansite, than my browser thought, that I live in Spain and I read the unit descriptions from official site in Spanish. Now we got scans from a Polish magazine and a German preview with video... and I am really considering learning Hungarian and Chinese
(however, I am really disappointed from my English skills; I could understand hardly every second word, from what Le Breton said - no offense towards him)
For those less fortunate, who did not understand the German video, a short summary:
"blah, blah, blah, Ubisoft gave us the video under the condition, that a speaker will comment it properly... and I would like to comment all the news, but this video does not contain any of them... we follow the duke Slava and see that, what has functioned the same way in previous Heroes... there a sawmill with resources, but guarded by hostile creeps, so into the battle... and the battle functions as always, so there is not much to say. And that's why we logically will see much more battles in this video... Slava is in Haven, Praetorians are the upgrade of the basic melee unit, Priestess (Sister) is able to heal the friendly units, archer (or what's his name?) is the simplest shooting unit. And he cheers after his shot. There is a heavy focus on animations, which can be turned off, because they take too much time...well, now it's a good time to watch a battle. WATER ELEMENTALS (and no stupid and damn similarly to Yuki-ona looking River spirits in the same unknown Sanctuary faction)? Why not... BlackHole tries hard to make the battlefields optically interesting - tactically interesting is also the middle part of the battlefield. There are also those special near views, that can be turned off. Back to the map - on the right there is the new dwelling and with it something about the new area-of-control system; but on the left, there are earth elementals, and hey, we could possibly watch a battle. Yes, these are earth elementals. They are also in the game. -aaaach- Would you like to know something about the Area of Control system? In Heroes 6, the map is divided into territories, in the middle of each area stands either a town, or a dwelling. All the mines in the area belong automatically to the owner of the town. You can gain the control of a mine by placing there a hero; but as soon as you go away, you loose the mine. When you conquer a town, you get also the mines. That means, the game is focused on the battles for towns and dwellings and the cat-and-mouse game for mines is skipped. But whom interests all this, when there are earth elementals being fought. Hmm, nice animations... we can cut it (24 seconds of earth elemental fight) and Ubis won't get angry... oh, so we will see one piece of news from the game and that - hold your hats - in a battle!... for the first time in Heroes series boss fights, like with Mother Namtaru, magical giant spider... Kiril, from inferno, has demon units... every boss fight should have tactical specialties - in this case, the blue fields, with ghosts appearing in them, helping Namtaru to heal herself... and the Heroes logo."
Oh, it's already tomorrow I have spent the whole day in front of Heroes community... do I have any life?
