I have that Crime Issue Death posted on the previous page in NS 2. Why the heck do I get only crime/freaky religion issues? This is getting annoying, and I will dismiss it, since it seems punishing the criminals in any way (even putting them in jail) results in Civil Rights decrease like the last time.

are you sure?

I have an issue about allowing alcohol on "subscription" (in NS1).. should I? Or should I fund the police for illegal smugglers?

Hey, everyone, I just became viceroy of The Monarchy, the most powerful alliance in world 38. Anyway, I don't think Empiriana will move anywhere anytime soon. Since I became the 6th most powerful person of that world. Even better yet, The alliance mostly grees on Empiriana's polacies.

So, I'll let you know how things'll be going.

For the monarchy! For the head sovereign!

After a recent survey discovered that nearly 40% of all citizens in Empiriana are single, there has been an increasingly loud call for the legalisation of prostitution.

The Debate
"I just can't get a girl no matter what I do," laments acne-afflicted nerd, Tobias Rubin. "If the cops would just look the other way about prostitution, it'd make my life much easier. Yeah, I'd be risking all sorts of diseases, but it's my body isn't it?"

"We can't allow this to happen!" protests Dr. Gregory Frederickson, senior pathologist of Empiriana's largest hospital. "Prostitution is a dangerous business and must remain illegal! People need to be more aware of the consequences that could follow like the risk of contracting HIV, chlamydia, or even syphilis. I say we get some funding for a large awareness programme on sexually transmitted diseases and maybe then people will act responsibly between the covers. It'll be expensive sure, but well worth it."

"Not so fast now!" interjects daring entrepreneur, Hope Bush. "Why don't we just have the prostitution industry run by the government? By letting the government regulate prostitution, Empiriana can force any patrons to undergo tests for diseases, make prostitutes have regular medical check-ups and pay a portion of their profits to the government. Of course we'd still have to put more policemen on the streets to keep illegal brothels from popping up and make sure the hospitals are equipped to handle the extra workload, but you can always raise taxes to account for that."

What? Why can't I just 'kill the snows! Burn em! I don't care about HIV awareness!'

from another issue:
Quote:
"It's not our war? It's not our war?" cries (in)famous Meriath-born fascist Buy McGuffin. "Well maybe it's time it became our war! Meriath should take a more active, and by 'active' I mean 'hostile', role in international politics! This ethnic squabbling will be over when the war is over, and WE can end that war and purge the impure! Evil grows out of ignorance from the deviant mind.! Sieg Meriath!"
The underlined part was awkwardly fitting in it... Also, am I the only one who raises a question mark when a fascist is portrayed as in speaking german?

Alright guys I have a new issue:
Quote:
Protesters Have Gone Too Far, Claim Police

The Issue

A group protesting against the Skama government began a riot yesterday which resulted in the death of Mr. Benson, a police officer.

The Debate

1. "This is an outrage!" cries Police Chief Max Jefferson. "The people of Skama just don't know how good they have it! Our nation is a gem compared to many others, but if you give an inch they will take a mile. I had to tell officer Benson's wife yesterday that their child will grow up without a father. Do I think public protests should be outlawed? You're damn right I do."

2. "It all happened so fast," says Faith Jong-Il, one of the protesters. "The crowd was just chanting, you know... and then they tear gassed us. I saw one cop, this Mr. Benson, club a teenager right in the face! For what? Speaking his mind! That's when the crowd rushed him. I'm sorry he's dead, but the police think they have a right to do whatever they want - things get out of hand sometimes. I think the police department should keep out of the way when we're protesting - even if things do get... excited."

3. "It's because protests get out of hand sometimes that we need a police presence," argues PC Akira Longfellow eventually after singing the national anthem to you. "Even violent protestors have a right to feel safe on the streets. If that means we have to die to protect the innocent, then that means we have to die. I think protests should be restricted to a designated area where police can keep an eye on the protestors. Then everything can go nice and smoothly and no one will have to worry about being beaten to death."
either 1 or 3 (for sure not 2)... what do you think? will something bad happen if I choose 3?

Yeah but 1 will eradicate all parties.
Yes I am a dictator for life, but sometimes I want to listen to the people who protest -- it doesn't mean I will agree with them, just know what they think (and no, I'm not evil to prosecute them).

I'm wondering if 3 will increase taxes or something.

(not gonna choose 2, because you see what happens, people get killed, and I have no problem of eradicating extremist parties ).

1 is total control
2 is leaning more to anarchy
3 is leaning to reason and logic

so if you want to give your people the opportunity to voice their opinion out loud, while emaining a dictator, then I think 3 is the best. Meriath also chose three. Empiriana would go for 1.

I allowed people to cheat on their wives... I don't want to jail or murder them. That's way too harsh. Btw, if I keep controlling them, they won't learn anyting on their own, they'll just wanna rebel.

Not if that's how they've been brought up and live with it (that is no one does it). People will rebel for prohibition of alcohol in my nation too, but it won't be long till they will "get used to it"

I didn't have a "cheating" issue but I outlawed divorce. Yeah, I take marriage as something important, not just a punky-style thing every idiot should take. If you're not prepared for the consequences then don't freaking marry. Well IMO

And I would outlaw gay marriage too -- remember, 'marriage', I have nothing with gay people. I want to keep marriage on it's original intent.

well, Empiriana would most definitely agree, but Meriath allows a lot of stuff. Simply because it's not such a bad thing. If people want to cheapen that, that's fine. I don't do it, but I don't want to make others suffer for being weak like that. If your wive or husband cheats and you think that sucks horribly, then don't marry the idiot!

I think if you outlaw something, then the people will crave more for it. Think of the anarchy in France at the end of the 18th century. Think of abstract art right after the first world war. And like that I want to give the people as many opportunities to enjoy themselves and learn something. If they want to take drugs, cheat and drink, that's fine by me. But I also want you all to be smart and work and suffer the consequences. No funds are going in it (except the taxes that I'm taking out of profits from those industries).

Wow, that post was almost cohesive.

As for alcohol, it wasn't because they are idiots to take it, it was because of accidents. Plus, if they don't have easy access they will forget about it.

Mind you, death, I do not disagree with you. it's just that people can't walk a silver line. If I would enforce such things, the persn who follows me might start killing someone who says an obscene word or something. I encourage a virtuous lifestyle, but it isn't a matter of life and death, since I take human weakness into account.
