Alright, if this is NWC material then this is certainly a big deal. I'm including it in my next news post.

Thanks a lot, Cepheus, IrfanView worked. However, even it had problems opening the files as they somehow kept changing location codes every time I clicked on them; thus I wasn't able to see them as a slideshow.

From what I can tell from the posts, someone made animations for every building, so the town screen could now fully function and those buildings could be added on the world map. Is that all? For reasons stated above, I could've easily missed something?

Still, we need models for the two types of heroes, their potraits, images and animated models for every unit, etc. Anyway, congratulations to whoever made this, it instills hope in reviving the original Forge.

Oh... My... God It's original

Now there will be plenty of self-made forges over the net.

He-He. It's very good to have this things. We shure will use it. At least we're making our Forge for HoTa, so quality will be on the 1rst place.

And there is a lot of things to do before say "town is ready":
- All units
- Heroes models
- Heroes portraits
- Battle screen with castle
- Adding 4 special town-buildings and sitizens houses
- work with this sprites - makin solid color and style theme (because now it's a salad)
- working with building placment and background because it is bad in comparison with original towns anyway.

So there is a lot of things to do

Awesome!
Now we can have Forge like it would have been in the original H3
The best option for me is to let this graphics be as H3 author made it.
I am so mad that I am not able to insert new city into H3 and even make some new creatures

Maybe this files is signal for Forge-making teams to make fusion and together create as good and as similar to oryginal concept as you all are able to create?

Is there any way of finding out who posted this? If they're still working on it, they are well on the way of completing the Forge. Maybe they posted information about their project on some other forum.

Hobbit, the proportions of your new Zombie are far better now: it's arms were way too long before. It's an improvement, but, why bother making a new Zombie model anyway? The original one was the best after all.

The file was uploaded to MediaFire on  8 June 2010 and it was posted here on the same day.
If the screenshot from AcidCave is the 3DO's Forge, then the images from the archive are real 3DO material. Consider benhur, the poster of the archive has only one post and registered on the same day.

Don't even try, this guy may fall into trouble for sharing (still) copyrighted material.

Yes, you're right, dmad. It seems quite obvious that benhur posted this; after all, what are the chances of him "finding" this material as soon as it was posted. It's strange that he wouldn't admit posting it, though: after all, how could he possibly fall into trouble because of sharing copyrighted material when 3DO went bankrupt years ago. After all, whoever gave out the "leaked" images (Naga Tank, for example) that 3DO didn't want massively showcased didn't get into any trouble as well, AFAIK.

Anyway, since benhur is probably the poster, if he's working on the Forge, I wish him and his team (is he has one) the best of luck in their project.

There will be no trouble as far as I can tell, not least because Ubi doesn't actively support H3 in any way. It's not vastly different than H5 modders using models from the open beta - as long as it's non-profit and breaches no copyright, go nuts.

Ubisoft has all rights to this materials and only Ubisoft can share it. If this person was working on Forge I am sure, he/she sign document, that all this is 3DO's (so now Ubisofts) properties.

Don't worry. If this person want to help us more, he/she will. If not - don't push. We have already got so many

The only practical copyright to this material belongs to Phelan Sykes. Ubisoft can hardly lay a serious claim to it as none of it ever appeared in a product among the assets they purchased, retail or otherwise. Whatever, there is no chance they will attack a project like this - they would normally encourage it - unless someone tries to attach monetary value to the work and sells it for profit.

Really? They have no reason to let us make H3 better. They want to make more money and they can't from H3.
If 3DO pays someone to make some graphics 3DO owes this graphics. Otherwise it would be huge problem when someone important left company...
I am not sure and I don't want to argue with you.

Why argue? As Cepheus said, the only practical copyright belongs to Phelan Sykes and she definitely isn't working on a Forge project (which is a shame, really).

Just imagine Ubisoft making a move on WoG teams for greatly modifying HoM&M 3, or for implementing elements from HoM&M 4 into it. The main goal of any company is obviously to make lots of money; so, whoever is developing a non-profit project isn't harming Ubi in any way.

Here an example: George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars allowed SW fans to create any kind of SW-related art as long as it is non-profit; here, we have the same case.

Guys, nobody cares. NWC does not give a snow of what happens about fans expansions, and even if Forge will be out with NWC original screens, who will play it? 10 people at most?
Get real. Use all what you have, because the only reward you will get will be the personal satisfaction from achieving a quality thing.

Me pessimist or you over optimist? Have you looked how many people played the Grove? It is already dead. Most players prefer original Heroes and the "very" few WoG fans around are too busy to test things.

If benhur, or whoever posted that isn't working on the Forge, I wonder if those designs could help someone else; namely, don_komandorr and his team. Since don is making new designs for all the buildings, could he use these animations for them? In that case, a good part of the project will have already been done.
