Hello to the Heroes Community. I've been a long-time fan of the site and a long-time player of the HOMM series. I never played King's Quest, but I was introduced to the Heroes series by a friend (and later roommate) who had HOMM 1.
I want to say thank you all for the discussions and recommendations I've come across hereon. Though I've not participated directly, they've been most helpful in my getting the most out of the games over the last few years.
I'll relate here that I'm still playing HOMM 5 and my neighbor's kids are really into HOMM 4. I need to get a copy of HOMM 3 Complete I think to really excite them!
I have not bought HOMM 6 yet and I'm debating whether I will based on some of the discussions I've read. I won't (actually can't) say anything negative about the game since I've not actually played it yet. I'll likely hold out until an update or too comes out and I can get a sense of where the game is headed. Any input on this newest installation is, however, most welcome!

Welcome to the community sir, and I'm glad to see that you are willing to discuss games with us.  If you go to the H5 discussion group, I think that you will find that we have a rather active group of people still willing to discuss the game and give you tips.

Hi! I 'm joined HC and now I can read and write HC news. Heroes? I playing many years only Heroes. About 16 hours per day Fool? I like also chess, MTG, Doom2, Doom3 and books. Whether deaf here? I'm deaf from Finland. Now I look at.. message go to?!

New to the site. It's been quite a while since the last time i played HOMM, the last one i played being 4. A recent conversation with my roomate has lead to us deciding to get HOMM. We were wondering which HOMM is best, and if the Might & Magic Heroes Collection on Amazon.com is worth the buy. In addition to answering these questions we were wondering which would be compatible with our systems, we're both running either windows vista or 7 on our machines, depending on which machine we are using. We're sure that at least 5 will be compatible, but aren't sure if 4 will be able to run on vista, let alone 7. Any help you could give us before we purchase would be greatly appreciated.

Heroes 4 runs smoothly (within reason  ) on my Vista, H3 crashes here and there, though, but still very enjoyable. Then again I tend to keep most of my games nice and vanilla  .

Would you say 4 is the best, or is 5 better? and is http://www.amazon.com/Might-Magic-Heroes-Collection-Pc/dp/B0051UMYLW/ref=pd_sim_vg_2 worth the purchase?

But yes, if it includes all the expansions (which I believe it does since it's a 'collection') it's a reasonable price imo. It's just my opinion though, take it for what it is.

I am so disappointed that Heroes VI won't run on my computer because it says my graphics card isn't up to snuff. I've been waiting for that game for years and I can't get past square one with the demo. When I upgrade to a new computer, then I'll be able to play it, but I'm not upgrading just my graphics card to play the game. I just don't understannd why a turn-based game is so graphics-intensive. I've been able to play all games on my computer except for Heroes VI. They should have graphics options that allow you to play at lower graphics quality, so you can play the game. I already suggested all this on the developer's site.

Yeah, it has all the expansions, and all games 1-5. After looking through the site the $20 for the collection is only a fraction of what it would cost to buy all the games on their own(over $100). Which is better, 4 or 5?

4! H4 is orthodox. H5 is almost the same as the H3. H5 standrad offers a few scenario, I haven't played yet expansion, but I don't like H5. People like more H3 and maybe people like more H4 than H5. Example Heroes Portal found more H4 than H5 maps.

One Mysticial island - H4 map, Computer AI win to human 99-1. Jungle story! Ok I recommend 3 and 4 H5 can also buy.

Normal! Rule has develop for "all the time". I think 100 years later, chess has new rule. No h4 and h5 are also new age group. I don't know what would be H10.

Yes, the only game I didn't like was H4. What were they thinking? They missed the boat on that one.
