I Agree

I would vote for something on a federal level to implement some kind of civil myspace policing. I would do so at that level of government only because the states don't hold the keys to the internet. Well unless of course if states voted to keep the internet out entirely. And that would be quite a task considering how embedded it has become within our culture thus far.

NOOOO!!!!! That's not the government's business at all! The myspace admins should moderate what people post (and hire people to moderate it), but it's not the business of the government.

I really hope that no state would do anything as stupid as this. If my state did it, I would move.

We need to keep the government out of this type of political game as much as possible. It is our very own justice system and the government that we need on the sidelines, and not in our living rooms on a constant level.

The government is more corrupt then some of the sick individuals we are speaking of. They have proven this time again with some of the largest and most perverse scandals ever.

Comparison?

What if we likened myspace in a different but similar perspective? Let's say we took an entire city of people who all wrote letters to each other using the postal system. Each letter would be sent to cityhall and posted on a great wide literal chalkboard or bulletin board. Then let's say that the bulletin board containing today's letters were shown on television broadcast over the entire city to everyone with a t.v. and only televised on a specific channel. (let's say channel 8)

Considerations:

~not everyone watches t.v.
~not everyone watches channel 8
~not everyone is writing letters
~some of the letters contain pictures
~some of the letters contain music
~the postal system has complete control over the letter until it arrives at cityhall
~the people at cityhall who put the letters on the board have complete control over the letters once they are received

Questions:

1. Should the city's population vote on what content is displayed?
2. What rules should be applied to the postal system?
3. What rules, checks, and balances should be applied to the members of cityhall who pin the letters up for everyone to see?
4. Do you think there should be a single ruling person with which complete power should be consolidated?
5. What kinds of rules should apply to the content of the letters being sent? How can these rules be enforced?

Let's say the internet is represented by the relationship between the people and cityhall; myspace is represented by channel 8; the myspace user content is represented by the letters being sent.

If you sent a letter to the girl that you were railing behind the back of the working lady of the house, would you want that spread all over for people to vote on?

As I stated before this is not an issue any of us need to police. Police your children as much as you can and hope that you have given them the tools to dissect any situation they are faced with. Then police yourself and that is the only thing we need to worry about.

Adults seem to be more careless than adults on these types of sites. Giving out addresses and cell phone numbers. Using your real name to set up your sight and so forth.

The fact remains that there is no rhyme nor reason for this type of action. I think that you have put forth thought into this but no purpose.

hmm, I would like to apologize for my comments made in previous pages about myspace.

I did not have much knowledge of myspace and what it all was back then, so my comments really did not make much sense, and they were based on what people told me.

I apologize for the comments that may have hurt some people.

Sorry

These are conversations and quotes between my niece Consis as he digs himself a hole. This took place on MYspace so it fits this thread.

Tays blog on Myspace:
Violent my ***. Current mood:  irritated Category: Friends So I have violent tendencies now?**shaking head**It came to my attention earlier today that I'd lost someone from my page because they honestly believe that I have violent tendencies.Needless to say, I was thoroughly floored. This is the same guy who engaged me I lengthy Myspazz conversations through notes.Matter of fact, he felt the need to post all of those notes in their entirety."Because I have met a person named Tay" Jake's post CLICK HERE You finally get to the end of our lengthy conversation…and to the comments where you find:

Consis says:"I removed Tay from my friends list today after reading one of her blogs that appears to promote violent tendencies. I abhor violence in all it's forms and shapes.Posted by Jake on Wednesday, June 06, 2007 at 9:52 PM"

Tay Posts:
The only post I made around that time that I could even think might have unsettled him was this one: The post in question? That particular post where Jake makes no comments nor sent me personal mail regarding that post.He said nothing, just unceremoniously dropped me because I "appear to promote violent tendencies".

What a ******* crock of horse ****.Seriously what a load of bull.I wasn't the only person he deleted, Shelly and Logan also were chopped unceremoniously from the man's page. From his Heros Forum regarding the deletions:

Consis says:
"Oddly enough, after having been introduced to Myspace and made my own page: I have deleted The_Gootch, Violent_Flower, and their friend Tay from my friends list. I'm off on my own now, making friends with people whom I make that special connection with. The student has surpassed the teacher!

Tay says:
The student has surpassed the teacher?!? WTFF does that mean exactly?Sure use Logan, Shelly and I for what we know about Myspazz then strike off on your own with these wild accusations. What a ******* ****. Edit by VF: Referring to manhood.

Consis says:
The_Gootch almost never visits his page and certainly never responded to me at all. (What a surprise after having been thoroughly spanked in my fight thread)

Tay says:
Logan I know for a fact is on his page a least once every other day or so.

Consis says:
Violent_Flower has this really paranoid rule that makes all comments require her explicit approval before being posted. And not to mention she deleted a few of mine in the past without offering explanations.

Tay Says:
The "paranoid" rule, which Jake refers to, is because her kids and others have access to her page. It isn't paranoid it is simply that she doesn't want people posting ridiculous **** where her KIDS can see it, and you'd think a supposed stay at home father would understand and appreciate this rather than use it as a lame excuse to axe Shelly from his page.

Consis says:
Their friend Tay was actually the violent one. (perhaps her name should have been violent_flower) I was enjoying her page until one day I read one of her blogs that was quite the violence supporting piece. I want no part of that.A violence supporting piece?

Tay says:
You have the ******* gall to say that out of the HUNDREDS of posts I have made this ONE is a "violence supporting" piece? You are smoking crack Jake. That post, granted IF it IS the one that set you off, is NOT condoning any sort of violence. Perhaps you need to learn to read better.

Consis says:
He goes on to say:So it's just me now....off, free, and making cool new connections with interesting people whom actually respond, don't monitor my transmissions with a wiretap, and aren't physically angry people. Wo0t!

"Tay responds:
Physically angry people? You don't KNOW me Jake.I hardly think a few notes back and forth, and one phone call can crown you the expert on ME.You are not nice and you haven't even got a clue who or what.If it makes you feel better to say that you distanced yourself from the would-be "violent" person…fine.I am everyone's bad guy…why not yours too….?So what do you think folks?Am I right to be upset about this?Am I this "violence condoning" person that Jake seems to think I am?Love to all.

                   Tays friends respond

Dominic says:
Well I just have to say that if anyone in this world is VIOLENT, it's NOT my Tay! Tay has been the ONLY person that I know who has never ever once had a violent reaction towards me. Trust me when I say that I can be a little violent, moody, snowy, and whatnot, but I have never once even had the urge to throw one of these words out when describing my dearest friend Tay! So as far as I can tell someone apparently has a glitch. That glitch apparently is directed towards the wrong person.... SO I say sort it out and think about who you're talking to and abou., cuz obviously you can't be talking about my friend Tay!And that's just my opinionDominicPosted by Dominic on Sunday, July 01, 2007 at 9:30 PM [Reply to this]

Babs:
LOL Want me to go and kick the **** out of the hippie.. He can't tolerate violence? Well then kill yourself pal cause it's a violent world and we are a violent race.Posted by Babs on Sunday, July 01, 2007 at 9:58 PM [Reply to this]

CHAD Says:
Not saying you have violent tendencies, but it is part of human nature so except it Posted by CHAD on Sunday, July 01, 2007 at 10:05 PM [Reply to this]

Katie Says:
Oh Tay I love you!!!! **** that>> Edit by VF: can’t call you that on here.. You have my back so much when it comes to the donor family spazzing out and I must say I've got yours on this one. Rob and I absolutely adore you and that guy can just sit on it and rotate. I LIVE for the day you and I finally get together. : )Much love girlie,KatiePosted by Katie on Sunday, July 01, 2007 at 11:02 PM [

Teh Bree Says:
What! Wow, what a joke, Tay. Seriously... who needs 'em. Pffft. He really showed his "betterness" by blogging it... I mean, if he wanted to be the better person, he'd had left it personal and private and went on with his life...Can we say attention snow?****, be violent woman! It's funnnn!!!!Posted by Teh Bree on Monday, July 02, 2007 at 4:47 AM [Reply to this]

Beth says:
Alright. I've known you for what, 20 years? I would NEVER consider you to be violent. Jake doesn't know you and is being judgemental. If he considered himself to be such a good friend he should have talked to you about it. Back in March my best friend dropped me from her myspazz without saying a word to me as to why. It was AFTER the fact that she talked to me about it, and being that we were so very close, it was quite a slam to me. We still aren't on speaking terms today. It seems to me that Jake is standing at the Pearly Gates doing someone else's job. He obviously doesn't know you and he doesn't deserve to.Posted by Beth on Monday, July 02, 2007 at 5:33 AM [Reply to this]

Violent Flower:

So there you have it, Consis managed to stirrup quite the fun posts. My niece Tay has been in the top ten-blogging list of Myspazz for sometime now. So I will not even begin to post all of what was written.

MySpace is heresy

I have a very strong opinion on MySpace, and due to much of it being formed around facts, the part of it that is my opinion would be almost impossible to change, so I doubt you could convince me to change my mind.

Before I say my opinions I would like to "respond" (read: shoot at) to others opinions and "facts"

Quote:
@ TA, I could hack myspace, or anyone else for that matter, I just wish someone would do it quickly

(--william)
A) You could not hack MySpace, few could. I know you can't because you are under the impression it is easy. I doubt more than 5% of HC members know this but MySpace is Google, in the same way YouTube is. Sub divisions. Are you saying you, or anyone else could hack Google? I know about these, I run web pages, and to be honest have done some (nothing heavy) H4x021|\|9 (hacking) of my own.
B) No one is going to hack MySpace

Quote:
MS is no more full of idiots then this forum is. HC is a way for gamers and some strays to follow along in a soap opera manner and have a reason to come home at night. Go read some of the MS blogs and bulletins and tell me that the same load of crap is not dished out here. We have a bunch of young and old, ignorant and wise, and everything in-between.

We have people on here who say they are one person and end up being three (LG, LM, and well you can guess the other.) We have those that think they know everything there is to know and then you look at their profile and they are 15. No different then on MS and certainly no more immature. On here we have the gamers, come on folks gamers? There are 40-year-old men on here arguing about whether the dwarf can without a doubt take on the mutant alien in a true hand-to-hand combat competition; oh who will prevail this one? Tune in next week to see the exiting ending, why because we have no life.

The bloggers on MS that spend hours at a time to blog about their day to day life in a public ‘Dear Diary’ setting that everyone gets caught up in and they do this because it take the focus off of their pathetic depressing lives. Sound familiar, yep, just like HC huh William?  So to those of us that enjoy the focus being taken off of our slowly drowning lives and can’t help but to play with magic and little dwarfs with glitter faces, more power to ya. I for one love them both and find a place for both of them in my life. Kudos to the gamers and the bloggers, one in the same.
(--Violent Flower)

HC is based around strategy loves, and debates are common. But the people in HC are on average smart and more mature than the people on MySpace.

Quote:
What?

How will a myspace account/page harm me?

(--Consis)
More than you would think. The easiest way to get people information is via MySpace. And the thing about hackers is if they are determined, once they know one thing about you, they know everything. Name goes to IP, Credit card number, social security, the whole nine yards.

Quote:
Well unless of course if states voted to keep the internet out entirely. And that would be quite a task considering how embedded it has become within our culture thus far.
(--Consis)
No. Most people take the internet as a granted, and assume it goes by satellites, but if you ever think about it you would realize it is something physical. Meet the Backbones. Huge fiber optic tubes connecting all of the computers from my house, to LA, to japan, down to Val's house in New Zealand, to Africa - everywhere. You can't ban the internet anymore than you could ban roads, or brunettes.

And lastly the whole "emo" thing.
A) MySpace is not 95% emos, or even 50%, it has Emos like everywhere else
B) There is no need to be so intolerant of Emos.
C) If it is, so what? They are harming the other MySpace pages.

My Opinion -
MySpace is heresy
"Heresy: ... 2a : dissent or deviation from a dominant theory, opinion, or practice..."

MySpace goes against everything Nerds stand for. Every abuse the geeks have ever taken. ~35 years ago we (not me but my kind) invented computers - the useless Altair 8800 was programed to be used as a speaker. Soon pong, and alien invaders followed. We wired transistors, flip-flops to make RAM, and made these all the while being laughed at, getting no "action". We made these, and soon one of us simplifies things by making BBCode so that non-nerds can make web pages.

They don't deserve web pages! People who couldn't make a line of HTML to save their lives are corrupting our internet and culture. They make blogs, and get the joy of designing and admining a web page, without the work, they laugh and when we finish they use our products, still calling us nerds. We work on our culture, and 1337 emerges. It had some per-starts (crackers, and I'm not refering to the white derogatory term newly "made") and with starcraft it emerges. Cyphering M4k3ing 7hing5 H4rd for L4MX0RS t0 r33d. |_||\|71l 0|_|2 \/\/|-|0l3 L4n9U493 3M32935  - 73h 1337xX025!!!1!1!one! (Making things hard for lamezors to read. Until our whole language emerges - the awesomeness!). And what to these idiots do? They start inventing this - POS parent over shoulder, -GTG, <('_')>, adding their own things, corrupting us. Soon some traitors see marketing schemes and release Halo and Counterstrike.

The N00bs overwhelm us, making their own rules, separating gamer from hacker - video games from math. They take our design joy, and abuse it to socialize.

Again, they deserve non of this! These moronic NTs (nero-typical, meaning average idiot) lower the bar to the point where everybody gets a "degree" from a "good college". They take our work, insult us, steal the results - its horrible!

And MySpace is the most grand example - the Nexus of worthlessness.

I could continue, but I don't want to. There are two reasons
1) the people who understand what I saying, could geuss many of the other problems I have with MySpace
2) the people who don't get it arn't going to be getting it anytime soon.

(Possibly to be continued on other big points for me to hate MS)
