Transparent

One thing I didn't consider when I created the image was the need for transparency. If someone uses "Tabs" in his/her browser, then, around the logo there is a white area which might not look very nice with the rest colours. So I just removed the white background and made it transparent. Hope you like it:

Here's Lord Pc's original post

i think it would be interesting to have something like this on each members stats page

member: Jon

posts in VW: 46
posts in tavern: 140
posts in other side:396
posts in turban: 23

something like that. a break down of posting habits. would be very interesting

I'd like to add a running count of posts that get incinerated in the VW.

I'll co-sponsor if anybody else comes forward.

I would like to sponsor an idea...

I think that all members should have the power to delete Posts in a Thread that they start, without always having to ask a Moderator to do it for them. I feel so strongly about this option that I would be willing to pay $25 or more to see it happen.

I have created the necessary Poll, in order to get some feedback from other HC members, here, and briefly stated my reasons as well.

I'm not sure if this is an issue of "willing or able", but I'll leave it up to Valera.

Another method of doing this (that might be better for all) would be to have a "checkbox" at the bottom of a Post that if selected, would flag it for a Moderator's review. This checkbox could either be visible by the Thread-starter, exclusively, or by all members.

Following this idea, someone could easily report SPAM, CoC violations, off-topic Posts, etc. to a Moderator without having to create a link to the appropriate Thread and then describing which Post in question they are reporting.

I have another idea that I would like to sponsor...

At first, I didn't necessarily want to sponsor this idea and simply wanted to write it down somewhere for discussion. But since this Thread has brought my idea to a whole new level, I have now changed my mind and would be willing to pay $25 or more to see it happen.
The original question was: Would it be possible & worth it to have a rating scale at the end of every Post that allowed members to vote on its quality?

I have seen this feature in certain emails from various companies asking:
Quote:
"Please rate the usefulness of this email by clicking on the scale below."
Then there would be options from "Very useful" to "Not useful at all" that could be selected.

Maybe I'm just dreaming in technicolor, but I have seen the idea of QPs being awarded to certain Posts by regular HC members so often that I decided to give it some serious thought; and this was the best method that I could of come up with.

I have created a Poll, here to ask the rest of HC's membership for their input, so please go there & vote.

I know that this "scale" might cause way too much clutter on the screen, but maybe somebody else has an idea of how we could refine the process to be more user-friendly.

Upon further consideration, I have thought of way to combine both of my sponsored ideas.

If we were to use the rating Drop-down box and include Delete Post as an option (only available to the Thread-starter, Moderators, and Valera), then there would be no need to have a seperate checkbox system in place.

Of course, that would mean that all Posts on HC would have to have the "Rate Thread |v| [Go]" option, and not just those whose members voluntarily selected to have their Posts rated.

I will submit this new development in both Threads and see what further discussion comes from it. Then, once a decision has been made regarding one or both of my sponsored ideas, could the relative Polls be moved into the Turban Tribunal, please? Thank you!

I've known for a long time that HC kills paragraphs.

Like this one for example.  It was a paragraph when I typed it in but now it's just a command line.

However HC has this really annoying habit of taking two spaces and condensing it down to one.  It makes reading extended prose a headache. Plus it really wreaks havoc with smileys, like Senor Mustacho.

Would it be too much trouble to kill that bit of code that plays with the spaces?

I haven't tested it but it is totally strange what you report.
If you take a look on source code of each page, Val explicitly describes the favicon with the following:
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://heroescommunity.com/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />
which is mandatory for Internet Explorer only!
All other browsers work simply with this (which is also included):
<link rel="icon" href="http://heroescommunity.com/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />

Dunno if the ordering plays a role though ... But I am bored to test!

Internal Vaults in Fora

This feature concerns general forum cleaning and structuring, which I think is direly needed in several of the fora (especially the H5 fora where I have my main activity).

I posted some thoughts about extinct thread and forum cleaning in the Altar yesterday (bottom post), and in this context got the idea, that it would be nice if the forum had one or more internal archive vaults, where Moderators could move extinct (= old and inactive) threads. Threads moved to the Vaults would be locked, but could be revived and moved back to the Forum on request, if someone feel they have something new to add to the post. The internal Vaults would be better than a general vault (my original thought), because the archived posts would then be sorted by theme rather than being just a big mess.

The idea of this would be to get "cleaner" fora with only a limited number of pages (perhaps 15 instead of 60 or more), where it would be possible to actually browse through the active threads in a fair amount of time. This would also prevent the very annoying drowning of boards when a newcommer comes by and revives a host of extinct threads without having anything new to add (the Altar of Wishes experiences this post number boosting on a regular basis, which is very annoying).

To outline the major points of the idea:

- Each forum gets one or more Archive vaults, where extinct posts are placed.

- The number of Archives could vary between different fora. Thus, some fora might only need one (or even none) whereas other might need several (thus, the Altar of Wishes could need a Pre-Heroes 4 vault, a Heroes 4 vault, a Pre-Heroes 5 vault, and a Heroes 5 vault). The Moderators should administrate the number of types of vaults.

- All threads moved to the vaults are locked, but can be unlocked and moved back to the active forum on request. Requests shoud be given with a reason, that the Moderators evaluate. It is important that the Vaults contain only locked threads, because these are ment as Archives, not new active fora.

- Moderators should clean up their fora regularly. One suggestion would be to have cleaning on a monthly basis, and classifying all threads with no new posts in the last two months as extinct, moving them to the vaults.

- Threads that have been locked within the last month due to improper content or for other reasons are moved to the vault at the end of the month.

- Threads containing Quality posts are never considered extinct, and are therefore never moved to the Vaults.

- In terms of forum layout, one could add another selector in the bottom of the forum next to the Forum selector (and maybe move the "New Topic" and "New Poll" links a bit to the left) - something like this:

- Default when entering a Forum would always be the main forum page.

- I would be willing to pay $20 for this feature, if it was implemented and used properly by the Moderators.

My idea...

OK, it is good idea in my opinion:

1. The "CODE" bb code to be "allowed", you all know what I mean:

It's will be very useful in the modders workshop...

2. The Kyrilik textes, we need them, since January 1 the kyrilik is official alphabet ES like the english and the german alphabet, so...

There should be a maximum of 5kb limit on custom avatars, seriously I dont have a chance to squeeze in my coolest avatars that much!

And there should be a 'preview' option to check, like at CH/ The Heroes Round Table before making a post, helps to avoid editing of posts to a degree. I find it very useful.

Would be very nice to have the "Favorite Forum" option.

In the member's profile you can see in which forum he posts the most.
It exists in many forums, as part of the statistics in the profile.

Once again, Alc you have improved greatly upon one of my old ideas. I agree with all of that except for the QP exemption -  I think H4 and earlier QPs should not be spared from the vaults, also however, just because an idea was thought for H4, doesn't mean it couldn't be put in H6, so some H4 threads should be spared., Aside from that, I totaly agree

If this was put in, I would help with the initial filter, and maybe some of the monthly filters.
