I updated all the games and tried that run as administrator thing, but it was no use. Then I tried to run the expansions through the game discs auto-run menu, and It worked! I don't quite get it: why doesn't it work from the desktop icon as it should? I guess it doesn't matter.

Crashes at the end of missions

Hi,

I've just stated playing the game, and for some reason the game crashes everytime at the end of "the Siege" mission from the first campaign. (The Haven tutorial one).

I've tried using quick combat, thinking it was the gating bug I have read about, but that makes no differecne - I've also made sure I'm patched up to version 6, and lowered all my graphics settings. Everytime I get the end dialogue from Beatrice, level up my hero, but then as soon as I click the final button to end the scenario it crashes to desktop.

Has anyone any idea how to fix this or get round it?

I didn't experience a problem with that campaign, but I have seen evidence of poor memory management by the software which can lead to troubles.   So I'd like to ask how much overall RAM you have on the machine, what else is running, and whether you have tried testing your RAM with a tool like Memtest86?

I'm running with 8 gig of memory on Windows Vista 64 bit. Have run mem-test and found nothing, and have retried the fight several times after rebooting with no luck. For some reason, something that happens at the end of that one mission seems to nuke the game for me.

(Have tried running the game from disc and from Steam and get the same result as well).

EDIT: Have tried downloading the "Campaign all saves file from the modding section so I could at least play the next mission, but that instantyl crashes the game as soon as I click to play a campaign. Is there anyway just to play the final maps of the haven campaign at least (have unlocked the other 5 through the mod).

Multiplayer trouble

When ever I join an online game I get the message "the host has cancelled the game". The other player says that I enter the game and immediatly leave again :S We both have version 3.1 EU

Anyone know why this is ? Any help is much appreciated

Probably net issue, that or you may not have same hamachi version. I've heard people who had that problem with lan while not having a bad net..

Well I bought the game this week and have had many issues that people in this forum have complained about

eg - Nvidia cards causes a patchwork quilt effect/blur effect for no reason what so ever

And it was phoenixreborn that gave me the answer

I saw this problem back in my Guildwars days where the ground in 3d turned into a quilt

This was fixed very quickly - but it required NCSoft to change the renderer and Nvidia to admit there drivers were not working

To put it simply - This is a MIP MAP problem

Not to go into detail - you will need PhoenixReborns Link to get the tweaker (yes it works for V1.6)

The first thing that will happen is you will get an error running it saying Interger Value is incorrect - this is the first clue to the problem

Go past the error and your default profile will load in

its a tabbed program so you are going to use just 2 tabs here STANDARD and GRAPHICS

under STANDARD

Remove tick for improved graphics
make sure NORMAL is selected
Antialising and antistrobic make sure the sliders are to the LEFT

under GRAPHICS

now this is where it gets interesting
Play around here and the intersting boxes to play with are

"disable pixel shaders"
"TNL mode"
"Fullscreen Mode"
"Vertical Synch"
"Disable non Pow Textures"
"Compatibility with old drivers"

-Now if you tick "disable Pixel Shaders" you will have very low effects so I have this unticked

-TNL i have enabled - but again this is a choice for quality

-Full Screen is a preference again - playing around I have managed to keep all effects working under both but its more stable with fullscreen UNTICKED

-Vertical Synch again is a preference again - I have this ticked to stop shearing

-POW textures im not sure on so I have this ticked

-Compatible with old derivers - i have this ticked so I could play around with different drivers but its best to have this ticked if you dont uninstall your drivers using Drive Cleaner as nvidia always leaves the odd nl.dll behind

Now because your not using full effects dont enable any hardware effects on the right hand side to do with Mip Mapping Dynamic shades etc

Save the profile

If you want to know where your profile is its bound sure to be on your c drive under "users\my documents\mygames\ubisoft etc etc"

So you can always make a backup

Now

Start the game

After the introduction the main animatic will start and it will be blurry as hell - as soon as you move your mouse and hit a menu item - like Campaign or Custom compaign etc the graphics will render correctly

Now go into the game - hey presto it renders correectly obviously with less effects but the textures are identifiable as grass and trees etc (its now using standard scalling for the game rather than driver controlled mip mapping scaling)

My problems occured when you moved from cutscene to game or tactile map to game this transition always made the game go blurry

Doesnt happen anymore

So I hope this helps in a way

UBISOFT need to change how scalling works to fix the issue - its a 50/50 split on blame here but Nvidia use a different allogarythem for scalling and hence the effect does not work

Thats my theory anyway

Latest Graphics drivers' warning.

I have to postpone updating/upgrading my own graphics card's driver.

Reason: I get to install the x64 drivers. The newest one from AMD-ATI is dropping all support for DX9d3d.dll files from the DirectX graphics codes database. Will, as of now, only support DX10.x graphics files.

For these driver programmers, DX11 is now being developed and, plans it's use within the next year or so for another generation of extremely high definition graphics based games and other productivity programs for real world use.

Note: Stardock's Elemental War of Magic's latest game will support DX10 and will have the x64 edition as well. Personally, I will opt for this new format of x64 edition. Do hope the devs for Heroes 6 will keep all of this in mind, also.

Good Luck playing M&M:H5-T.o.t.E. within the next few years!

i have a 22inch wide screen HD monitor and after i install Windows7 i have a problem,Windows7 not detect the real resolution of my monitor because is some wind7 VGA monitor detection problem(not exist any driver for my monitor).I resolved this by adjust the desktop resolution from my video card utility.The problem is when i want to play H5Tote,i cant adjust a good wide screen resolution for game.Anybody can help me,please?

yes,i installed the patch ,in desktop i have 1920x1080 resolution,but in game options cant see this resolution.I disabled the driver for monitor installed by windows7 and i set the 1920x1080 from my video card utility.I have HIS  Radeon HD4650 1GB 128bit DDR3 video card.

Have you also downloaded and tried the latest ati catalyst drivers, normally that should be your next step.

yes i have the latest driver,but this not help..i try today to connect my monitor to my video card not directly to video cared vga out,i connected to video card dvi out a vga adapter and to this my monitor.in this way everything is ok,and in game i have the 1920x1080 resolution available.i stay now with this adapter,i hope wind7 will fix someday the vga connection problem.important is i can now enjoy my game

have you tried downloading that utility mentioned in my earlier post and messing with settings ?

I would give it a try regardless of card (Geforce or Radeon)

It does work but kinda weird since anything is set as it lowest?? O.O
If I change it in the main menu the game gets blurry again xD

Exactly

If you change it in the very simplified menu within the game, you enable or disable multiple entries found in that utility

My article explained my belief in the problem which i believe to be a scale problem called mip mapping

I would not change any setting in the game - just use that utility

Thats the key

example - if you change the game to use "effects" it does not change just a tick box called "effects" it will as an example only turn on atistrobic filtering, raise to hi res textures, enable mip mapping, turn on anti alising etc

It is the above example that shows that if you manipulate the singular items in that utility you dont need the menu in the game
