Duel Mode: Implement it in ToH homm5?
As far as I can see, its a very short game, luck is the biggest factor, (eg. who gets to shoot first, who gets the luck rainbow when attacking etc). Games last less than 15 mins.
Should it be added to the homm5 win/loss reports, as a way to increase rankings in the main rankings page (albeit a much smaller point value) or kept separate alltogether? -- Or simply ignored as someting not to be applied to ToH?

keep separate... actually the duels are unbalanced, and more important didn't the half of the strategy that have a normal game...

If we not allowed play Fatal Contravercity in TOH in HOMM4, duels of course can't

Better still, let's hope for a bit more balance on the release. From what I've seen of the demo, there are a few issues on that front. The camera bugs me a bit, too, but I can grudgingly deal with it. Think jb mentioned that earlier.
Everything else just blows me away, though!!!! The game was just the slightest bit choppy on my pc, but I reduced antialiasing settings and now it runs as smoothly as I could ever wish.
Ubi/Nival saved HoMM, IMO.
Oh, and Ves--the Duel Mode concept isn't a bad thing. I wouldn't mix it up w/ H5 scores, tho.....even the slightest increase it might make on Rankings scores would somewhat 'skew' them and make it kinda/sorta/IfIwannaWhineABit hard to tell real talent from luck. 'Sides that, Duels would be a better Sub
If you intend to get rid of H3 then perhaps you might set that side of the rankings up for Duels? Would it be hard to do?
Lastly, 3 things--
1. Zud had better return.
B. 3DO still owes us 4 months of royalties/incentives for promoting their games. Killa didn't get his check, either.......We ever gonna see that money?

Yeah, I tend to agree -- no duel mode accepted for rankings on ToH main. Its that the moment I posted that ToH may implement duel on rankings for homm5, 'other' tournament sites jumped the bandwagon and are stating that now as well.
I had a meeting with my programmers for about 2 hours today, looking at implementing a few ideas into the automation. I'll post it later tonight.

seriously though, cann't wait to see the new site VES. and also agree that the duels would not be appropriate for point games in TOH. by the way, hi all, glad to see most peeps back on the boards

So it is done then, no duel reporting for homm5 ToH. There might be a subtourney for it later, but not for the main rankings.
Some new modifications:
-you can look up your account, upload an avatar to your rankings
-change your email address
-a few statistics additions
The top ranked player at the end of the first season (probably 8-10 months long) wins a $1000 cash prize, second place $400, third $100
Clans will open up about a week after the tournament begins. Some priviledges will be given to veteran clan victors from homm3/4 clans if they participate.
A Caesars finals for sure.
The Hero tournament for sure.
Warlords tournament for sure.
Speed Deamon tournament for sure.
Divisons? Probably not.
New look for the site of course.
I hope to reopen the site a few days before homm5 is launched.

I'm pretty sure when 'ToH' game starts popping up on the ubisoft matching channels people will go see what its all about -- just like how the zone homm room started out that way.
The difference this time is that ubi has its own rankings board, there is a benefit here though -- if a player attempts a fake reporting ring to beef up his account, it will not show up on the ubi stats pages, and therefore can be cross-referenced with the records on ToH to see that he is indeed destined to the HOS.

Always impatient Mike.
Why dont we wait for the new season to actually come out & see how it starts off.
Then we can maybe come up with some more compromises.
Maybe Rob will agree on divisions in time depending on how many players are playing & how the other sub tournies work out etc.
