These are drawings found in a cave in Thailand, marking over 100,000 years in age. The beings you see illustrated are Gods as seen by a man or woman in his or her dreams. The markings were worshipped as the creators of all things, and the destroyers of all things, the bringers of rain and the takers of children. Why? People didn't understand why children died, where rain came from, what caused trees to grow and what caused fire to burn. They didn't know why night came later when it was warm and earlier when it was cold.

This is a depiction of God by Michelangelo, commonly known as ''The Creation of Man.'' God is worshipped as the creator of all things, and the destroyer of all things. Probably, at first he was worshipped as the bringing of rain and the taker of children, but not anymore. Why? We know water vaporises at a certain temperature, which causes clouds to form in the atmosphere, and when a cloud reaches a certain level of density and can't hold anymore vapor combined with a lower temperature that reliquifies the water, it becomes to heavy to be supported in a cloud and falls to the earth. We also know that death is cause by the malfunctioning of the body rather than being smitten by some alpowerful being.

God is a collection of mysteries, nothing more, nothing less. What's the thing believers hold on to these days? ''Well, Intelligent Design still sounds more likely than the Big Bang theory.'' In past times, people could point to things on Earth itself to prove God existed; ''How else does the sun move around the sky?'', ''Why else do you think the water rises and falls every six hours?'', et cetera. Sooner or later, we'll know exactly how the Big Bang was caused, and the religious people will have to grasp even further for unproven phenomena, which is ironically exactly what God is as well.

Totally off-topic personal opinion time; There was once a God. His name was Cliff Burton.

There was no earth back then. Time begun between 9000 and 6000 BC.

Also, according to your own false evolution theory, man didn't exist back then! You liar!

Quote:

...blah, blah, blah. Although the bible explains those things as well, so you are making a point. Without God people are doomed  to eternal darkness.

God is worshipped as... the destroyer of all things
Are you referring to the heresy of predestination now?

Quote:
But, not anymore.
You know, there is a world outside your room to. Go out and see the world and then make such statements. I guess you are American, aren't you?

Tell Jesus that on judgement day and you'll get the answer: "Depart from me, you that work iniquity!" (Matthew 7:23, Douay-Rheims Bible)

''Well, Intelligent Design still sounds more likely than the Big Bang theory.''
Even trough our holy mother the Church is yet to make a statement about it, Intelligent Design is a heresy. Read Saint Pius X's Oath Against Modernism. Young Earth Creationism is the only acceptable (and scientific) explanation.

Okay... Thanks for pointing me to that badly written passage. It's fixed now.

And no, I'm 100% European. Although the sentence ''But, not anymore.'' was indicating to the rain bit, not the creator bit, I'm still sorry for offending you.

I just learn to believe the saying that shagrath (Who is better than any christian god, along with herman li, studio ghibli, echiro oda and branston pickle) goes by.

Jesus is a ****

Its simple but oh so true!

the world was created through thousands of years of evolution, and ask your local priest as well. any sensible, rational person will believe that science holds more sway over religion.

Whilst in the past we were more inclind to believe that there was a big man in the sky whose farts caused hurricanes, now we believe the wind is caused by particles rubbing together creating an electrical charge causing a flow of gaseous particles.

However, and i need to make this point, Science has become a new religion. not scientology (Amateratsu no!), but people use it in a way to justify their actions, like religion did. if you want to bum a kestrel, you can either use the scientific argument (I am measuring how long a kestrel can orgasm after anal penetration) or the religious one (this kestrel is possessed by demons and must be excorised). it might be an excuse, and some people might take one argument over the other more seriously, but that doesn't detract from the fact that you ARE BUMMING A KESTREL!!!!!!!

and that doesn't meant that people haven't tried to prove religious ideas through science. look at Leonardo da vinci in his search for the soul, and the Elekiter developed by Hiraga Gennai when he was searching for a way to harness Susanowo's (shinto god of storms) power.

Frankly I simply don't understand what some people have with Jesus. Not one of you compare even close to what (at least what the stories SAY) he did. Would you turn the other cheek when you're hit?

It's easy to point out how **** someone else is, but look in the mirror first

I wasn't even talking about religion. Say, maybe Jesus was a normal person. Doesn't matter.

EDIT: Not to mention that he died for our sins (well at least, that's what he believed!). Show some respect.

That's all good and well, but when you think about it sins wouldn't exist without religion. There would just be rightful and wrongful acts, and the fact that religion marks wrongful acts as sins with fear as a supporting act makes the whole purpose of letting a person decide for himself what's right and wrong completely void of any meaning. How can we hope to find peace in a world where various beliefs scare people into various types of behavior because some guy in the clouds will send them to eternal agony should they not behave like he wants them to?

No you did not understand me.

If a person, like Jesus, believes that he SAVES people from something (sins), and he sacrifices himself for that (even though atheists think it was worthless), then how can you say he is a ****??

He did what he believed was good for people. Now, I doubt you would sacrifice yourself for someone else, if you believe that will make them better off.

How can you honestly say he was a ****? This is beyond me

Well, I did not personally make that statement. I'm one of those atheists that actually recognises Jesus as a pretty cool guy. The statement ''Jesus is a snow'' is a slogan from death metal-band Cradle of Filth, IIRC. It's just something they think makes them more ''hardcore'' by saying it, and hasn't got anything to do with the discussion about God. Take it with a grain of salt.

Well I think you are going a bit far there. I mean even without religion you still have "sins". Just as you said a sin is simply a wrongful act. And "using fear to make people not do sin XYZ"... I think that was part of the middle ages (and anybody who would still listen to a stuff like that doesn't deserve better imo).
And I don't see whats wrong with saying you shouldn't do something. I mean perhaps your mother told you not to *insert something reasonable here* because if you would you'd get punishment. And that how sins in the church work. Perhaps eternal damnation is a bit harder than say having to wash the dishes but I hope you get my point.
