As explained above, religion is about FAITH, it's called BELIEVING for a reason. It's not about KNOWING, it's about BELIEVING.
Really, so just for the sake of it, let's say Jesus really existed and was God incarnated as a human. Let's say I were to live then back in year 0.

So the fact that I have seen Jesus would mean I am not believing anymore, and thus I wouldn't "stand up" for religion/faith anymore? (since I would've known Jesus or God existed).

Quote:
Moreover it's a foolish statement since you can't even back up your claim.
Can you back up your claims against Aliens that think differently? Or to put it more simply (choosing two random animals), can a Monkey back up it's claims against a snake?

Quote:
Unless your only argument is that you are far more enlighted and superior than us "atheists" and thus obviously way out of your league.
First off, how is that "obvious" anyway? any proof of that?

but then, he does not need to be "more enlighted" and "superior", he simply only needs to be different. In that, he thinks different, a different logic. Probably that's why he can't back up his claims for you, since it's difficult to express yourself for someone else who has a different logic, and make him understand.

you wouldn't believe how many people I know say how computer programming is illogical (I can't seem to explain it to them. If i use my logic, they say they don't understand).

Even though Moonlith has problems in finding the right mood / tone to express what he wants to say, he pointed out one of the main reasons believers and non-believers (being atheist or agnostic (like myself)) or any other kind...) argue.

No one can KNOW God exists, and on the other hand, no one can KNOW God does not exist. This is why it is called "Faith", "Believe" etc...

The example with "Let's assume Jesus did really exist.." has a main flaw....Even if Jesus did exist...still no proof God did/does aswell. SO even if u "saw" Jesus, doesn't mean you "saw" God. You "saw" someone who had spirituel influence to you...nothing esle.
Same way as Ron Hubbard had in "modern" times.....

So you can always expect a "trash talking" reply if you "provoke" a non-believer with the word "knowledge" refering to God.

And I have yet to see 2 or more different kinds of logic. That would be in fact illogical..

It's not as much that I can't put things in a nice tone and style, as much as I just have little to no patience with "certain" people, especially in "certain" discussions, such as about religion - which to me is a non-issue.

"certain" here obviously replacing improper words.

Hey, I always mean things humorously

Nevertheless, you DO tend to be a bit unpleasant to religious participants in the discussion, don't you think?

If you met a man who claimed to be the son of god, you wouldn't really be knowing that he was the son of god.

You would be believing it, yes.

(well personally I wouldn't know or believe it I'd just think he were a nutcase)

But that's fine by me, it just seemed to me that "Proof denies faith" was the most biggest excuse given by theists. If you don't want to use it more power to you.
If you don't have a problem with proof..... why isn't there ANY?

Trust me, I know I just can't stand it when someone gets smacked right in the face with logic, and they ignore it. THEN proceed to make nonsense posts with non-arguments. Which is generally what religious 'participants' do. Scroll back, view the thread

Look, when gallow flamed my HC with really nice letters and hes personal thoughts about my athiesm, and haterd to religion,i did replied once, twice, but then stop, when he saw i wasent paying any attention to him,he gave up on flaming me. -whos the silly one here?

Autsch.... You know there is nothing wrong with not knowing an english word (especially this one since it's almost not used when speaking)...but asking someone elso to use the dictionary while you don't get it right... that's not how it works my friend. You play heroes right? So you must have seen this creature The Zealot. Now his name is not a coinsedence as zealous means as much as "fanatic opsession with a cause" for zealous people reason does no longer matter as for them there is only one truth. There is a german saying: "Wer im Glashaus sitzt sollte nicht mit Steinen werfen". It means "The one who sits in a glashouse shouldn't throw with stones... go figure.
So before you lecture others it's best to get your own facts/arguments/words correct... this actually doesn't only help in HC it's like this everywhere in life.

@Antipaladin: To be quite frank I can't even bother responding to the kid anymore It's not for a feeling of self-reward that I do it, it's more based on hopes that perhaps they could catch onto logic and "see the light", to say it in a wussy kinda way.

I'm giving up hope though Celfious only adds to the list of people proving it's wasted energy. And I both admire and feel sorry for people like TitaniumAlloy who remain calm and patient in this, and still try.

Please stop your private fight with Antipaladin, and especially stop correcting grammar / spelling of non native english speakers in the way you do it, or I have to penalize this behaviour.
