George W. Bush: The right man, at the right time for the tough job!

I can't praise George W. Bush enough!

Assuming a leadership role in an office left absolutely barren of credibility and in a moral and ethical shambles personified by William J. Clinton; taking on an economy that's financial bubble had been burst by the rampant dot com company failures of the late 1990's and refocusing it with tax cuts into the emerging economic juggernaut it has become; all this while rising to the occasion of 9/11 to emerge as the pre-eminent world leader against radical religious fanatics while directing our nations troops in multiple campaigns worldwide against the agents of terrorism seeking to disrupt Western civilizations for whatever nefarious reasons!

I fully expect agreeing and disagreeing responses to my statements and welcome the coming lively debates!

I only ask that participants of this thread remain civil to each other and remember that Freedom of Speech includes opinions you may hate.

Try to conduct yourselves maturely and use links to any "facts" you wish to present for your arguments.

I haven't spent alot of time at this website but from what I have gathered in my short time here most people seem able to disagree civily and with the November elections looming here in the U.S. this seemed a great time to foster some legitimate party debate.

Have fun!

He may have caught Saddam but he still can't find Osama, and there's been a bounty on his head for two years longer. That's just pure laziness.

Sure, Gore COULD have been the President. In fact, Americsa wouldn't be in such trouble if Gore or Kerry were in charge. The Republican party was killed off interest-wise. The last decent Republicans were Reagan and former NY mayor Giuliani. Even Arnie fell short of his promises. Perhaps what Kanye West said during the Hurricane Katrina telethon may in fact be right.

Laziness? I want to play you in my next ToH because you clearly can't even make common sense "real world" connections.

Lets all update to 2006 for a moment.

Why take Osama into custody if you know where he is and you know when he communicates with someone and you can take 'his subordinates' into custody with confidence?

That's the kind of common sense tactics that liberal Democrats are entirely incapable of using.

More typical rhetoric from an ignorant liberal. Sure Kanye could be right, but only if you believe G.W.B. has power over Hurricanes!

Bah . . .

The common person will never know exactly what G.W. Bush's greatest accomplishments were while in office because of the war he started with Iraq.

The deaths of those Iraqi peoples will stain his name forever. He seems to think it was all worth going to Iraq . . . but Iraq didn't attack America.

I once saw a video on CNN website, "Why hate America".I regard it as a reflection.
One's speech manifests his/her mentality. Just read Bushisms, such as "You know, one of the hardest parts of my job is to connect Iraq to the war on terror" and "I said I was looking for a book to read, Laura said you ought to cry Camus. I also read three Shakespeares. ... I've got a eck-a-lec-tic reading list,"in thousands of lines and pages from 00 to 06. who can believe them to be masterworks by the President?

Perhaps you should look up the definition of civility?

It makes room for facetious disagreement. The harshest statement I make is referring to someone as 'ignorant' which isn't an insult, merely an observation. I flamed no one. I only excercised my more colorful ability to debate.

What I do find interesting; though; is that the overwhelming responses here have nothing to do with the thread I posted other than a sort of, "Who the hell does this guy think he is for praising G.W.B."

They contain no actual rebutals or even a smattering of factual driven counter arguments.

That's no surprise to me; however; because I have found no real reasoning to the hatred for the man, other than because liberal puppet masters ( such as George Soros, Nancy Pelosi, Bill Maher, Howard Dean and the other left wing Democratic 'usual suspects' ) have decreed that their political slaves should abhor him.

God help us if liberals ever begin to think for themselves, they might actually find out they were closet conservatives!

since liberals comes from "liberty", which means freedom, that means freedom is now a word used for insults in america? That kinda shows it all doesnt it?

I don't see why, I understand it just fine thanks.

I don't personally consider labelling the other side liberals (which you seem to use in the "to rhyme with scum" sense of the term) based on their inability to find Bush the best thing since sliced bread to be especially civil however, regardless of what a dictionary says.

You appear to have made this thread merely to confirm your already entrenched opinions of "liberals" (which from what you've said so far seems to include anyone offering the slightest criticim of Bush) so frankly I see no point in discussing the subjects you raised.

People can dislike Bush without being a liberal or a democrat just as not everyone who supports Bush's policies are Republicans. Labelling people as either based on a few remarks strikes me as rather arrogant.

Some times the world is just full of misunderstandings. So President Bush connecting Iraq with Al-Quaida was just a misunderstanding to. Please dont blame him for that.

This misunderstanding happened, when he was talking with his staff. It was like this:

Bush: "They keep on askin me if there is a connection between Iraq and Al-Quaida. Is there any?"

Staff: Well, yes Mister President. We sold both of them Heavy Weapons during 1980 - 1994 (Reagan to Bush senior). Unfortunately those are the same Weapons they now use against us, and kill our soldiers (not that we care). That gave billions of earnings for the Military Companies your father is involved with (that we do care).

So as President Bush cant keep 3 complete sentences in his mind for longer then 2 seconds and obviously using an ear-phone for every of his "press confernces" it went down like this:

Press: "Is there any connection between Al-Quaida and Iraq?"

Bush: "Yes, my Staff told me that there is a connection between Al-Quaida and Iraq".

___________

So is the USA really like this? Is it really more important that the former president got a blow-job from his secretary? Is it really more worse that he did lie about it to the press? Bush wanted a war right when he started his ruling (or was it the industry behind him?). Now hes actually doing war in several countries. You only know the biggest ones: Afghanistan and Iraq. Is it really like that the former shining country for democracy doesnt care a second that their military is killing innocent civilians day by day? Do YOU feel uber to this people????? Just for your info: Thats what nazism is all about!! YOU see only this "nice" cnn reports about how cool your military is (btw. thats also pure nazism). YOU only see those cool-laser-superprecise-only-terrorist-killing-bombs, while 95% percent carpet bombing is used. Do YOU see the Iraqi Mother on your "free-speech" Television that is holding the left arm of her daughter in her hand? The left arm was all it was left of her after the bomb hit her. YOU dont know where all the hate comes from? ARE YOU DUMB? Well, your "president" certainly is.

I made this thread to express my opinion of G.W.B. What is wrong with calling people liberals or conservatives? Those aren't slurs, they are categories of political ideals. If you personally see one or the other as defamatory then that is a problem for you to deal with.

I have another word for you to research the definition of: debate.

It's a situation where someone states their opinion, someone else then offers their counter opinion, and the discussion goes back and forth. When I commented on someone else's opinion it was in the spirit of continued debate.

All you have done; privatehudson; is post off-topic commentary on my style of responses, and if that is all you came here for you are certainly welcome to stop reading or posting in this thread. No one is forcing you to do so.

Yes, we hear tragic news like that here when it happens, and it is a tragedy. But after world war 2 there was a trial at Nuremburg that established, among other things, that the statement, "I was just following orders." does not excuse an individuals actions during wartime.

That being said, you can not blame G.W.B. for individual actions by the soldiers he commands. Assuming the bomb you indicate was "directed" at civilians ( a situation I find extremely unlikely ) it was not dropped by our president. It was no doubt a terrible, costly mistake.

For the record, you do know that terrorism existed before G.W.B. assumed office right? In fact, there were many terrorist attacks against this nation ( i.e. Kobar Towers, USS Cole, the first Twin Towers bombing, and 2 Embassasies in Africa ) that happened during the Clinton administration years before we even invaded Iraq. So to imply G.W.B. is solely responsible for creating hate and terrorism around the world; because of the war in Iraq; is to just be in denial of history and the world around you.

I created this thread to extoll my admiration for the job G.W.B. is doing as president, he could do a bit more; in my opinion; like taking a tougher stance on illegal immigration and cut back a bit more on the national deficit, but he is currently moving in the right direction on those issues.

Overall I find myself very satisfied with his handling of the office.

You honestly only posted in my thread for the sole purpose of threatening to post in my thread again?

Is that supposed to impress people?

It seems to me that if you had a point worth posting you would do so.

In case you haven't noticed, no one here is waiting breathlessly for your upcoming rebuttal.

If you do respond, make sure to post on topic from now on or don't bother posting at all.

Hindsight is always 60 minutes...I mean...20/20

Given the current situation in Iraq, coupled with anti-American sentiments at what is probably an all time high, I would like to share with you what I believe was George W. Bush's greatest mistake...

He invaded the wrong country!

Now, before you nod your heads in agreement, you may want to hear me out first.

Forget Afghanistan.  Forget Iraq.  Looking back, if there was one country that George Bush should have invaded, then it should have been Venezuela!

Think about it for a moment.  After the United States Armed Forces would have rolled over the Venezuelan military in approximately two-and-a-half days, the United States would not only have control of their natural resources, but the U.S. would also have another wonderful vacation paradise under its control.  The cost of living in Venezuela, compared to the U.S., is incredibly low, not to mention that its ethanol-based economy would truly increase American's spending power.  Gas prices would go down faster than an overweight intern on a former governor from Arkansas named Willie!  What a huge burden that would remove from many American's already overstuffed wallets and pocketbooks!  Starbucks, iPods, and big-screen televisions for everyone!

Call me crazy, but at the end of the day, all you have to do is ask yourself the following question...

If you were an American, would you rather fly 13 hours to Iraq or Afghanistan for vacation, or would you rather take a 6 day/7 night cruise down to sunny South America and spend your time drinking some of the world's finest coffee and frolicking through the Amazon Forest?

George, what the heck were you thinking?  Please add Venezuela to your Countries to Invade list.  Thanks, W!
