Since you play Sareth and in DM and you are the Demon Messiah and you are born at the end of HoF i doubt that DM takes place 15 years after HoF... Sareth is young ok.. but he's not 15 he's about 19-22?

And don't you think that when Gotai says something like "Relax Kujin todays Qurocs day" he means that she should stop complaining and leave Quroc (who just did something amazing today for example claim the skull of shadows) happy?

And yeah I think your right Daystar would be interessting to see Arantir buzz of to catch Sareth and the Skull at the end of TotE.

Assuming we'll see the skull it will be a race for who will get it. The reasons I doubt we will is that someone locked it with the shantiri crystal in a temple that does not look recent built and that if somebody had gotten it he would either have used it to seal the demons or released them - unless there was not enough time. Arantir will be probably searching it before things come to an end but it's easy to guess that he'll go independent and break any alliance he forms.

More like about three months, reasonably.  I don't know any women who take 2 years to conceive a baby...  maybe Isabel is special?

On another note, if Nival play their cards right, Arantir could be the next Sandro.  Even if he dies in DM, he's got that air of kickass evil you just can't place.

-on a side note, i bet in the 140 pages about this topic, 139 are spam

Then it's obvious that you have not read them. There is much speculation, news and on-topic discussion that are worth checking out. Most spam comes when there is nothing more to talk about.

An insight on the mechanics of death wail.

"This creature can deal damage on all living enemy stacks within the range of 3 tiles from it. The damage amount depends on the particular enemy`s Morale and its distance from the creature (activated ability)."

Damage was to be allocated with this formula: if X is the damage then one tile away damage dealt is X, two tiles away it's X/2, and 3 tiles away it's X/4. X is (10 - enemymoral)* # Banshees.

I don't know whether this formula has been changed in the course of the balancing process, but this is how Death Wail started out.

Quote:

Cast a Banshee Howl at the beginning of combat, -1 morale to all enemies.
You have your Zombies nearby the Banshees and you'll have an even greater morale reduction to the enemy. Have the Dragons attack first lowering morale even further. Now move your Banshees into position (either defensively or offensively blocking enemy shooters) and do a Death Wail. Let's assume we got enemy morale to -1 thinking they were positive previously. What's a Death Wail do? Let's say you've got 5 Banshees in your stack (not a tough number to imagine) and since you're attacking thier ranged troops, they're gonna try a gang attack on them. The formula would be (10-(-1))*5 or 55 damage to the units standing in the 12 squares surrounding the Banshees, 27 damage to the units in the 20 squares surrounding that, and 13 more damage to the 28 squares surrounding that. This is a HUGE area of effect here....8x8! You're gonna hit a BUNCH of units with it. Let's say we've got 5 enemy units in the range, 3 in the first layer, 1 in the other 2. That one Death Wail just dealt out 205 damage without retaliation. And we're only talking about FIVE Banshee's here. Compare that to 5 Titans with their Call Lightning ability. 5 Titans * 30 is only 150 damage. And with a bit of practice, I'm sure people will learn to get the most out of Death Wail by placing certain enemy units in the first layer of the damage ring.

The Banshee has the biggest opportunity to be raised with necromancy, having Pit Lords, Treants, Devils, Djinns, Rakshasas, Titans and Warlords to choose from for victims. At the beginning of a week, I know that I certainly look for those victims first and foremost for my dark energy consumption. So I'd say that they'll be fairly plentiful.

I'm not saying that they'll be better than the Wraiths...just that they'll be VERY useful....and that they're certainly better than the Wights.

To put into perspective how much area this ability will affect try to imagine that griffin as a banshee...(sorry, couldn't find an image with the grid AND necro troops).

Izzie had her baby before the end of HV.  Biara took her place at the end of the game (eye glowage, remember?) so she probobally had it during her time in Hell.

If HoF is ~2 years after HV, and it takes place over about a year, then Sareth would be about 3 years old around the time of Tieru telling Raelag to go fetch the orcses.  If Tote takes place another 2-3 years later, and goes over the stretch of a year, then that suggests that Sareth will be from 6 to 8 years old.

In DM sareth is at least 20, so that suggests at least 10 years between TOTE and DM, possibly even 15.  Thus, back to my Deciannual Hellmouth percolation theory.

EDIT: ZOMG, Banshees sound awesome now!  Banshee + Horror Dragon + Ring of the Broken Will + The enemy got skrewed over by fountain of fortune...

Yep, Necropolis will be even harder to beat now. The other races will have great need of leadership and luck in battles. But then the Necropolis campaign will be easier than it would have beem without the alternative upgrades.

Don't let your emotions run too wild here ... sure, it affects a huge area, but damage is going to be - well, moderate at best, I think. Base damage is 10 x Banshee numbers, and then modified by morale number - sure, you can give them a couple of minuses with Necropolis if you really set your mind to it, but also most armies have native +2 and then skill/artie counters, so let's say that evens out for a moment.

This means that inner circle will receive Damage = 10 x # Banshees. That's pretty ok if they are tightly grooped. Next circle will receive Damage = 5 x # Banshees. That's 250 Damage from an army of 50 Banshees. Not that it really wows me ... Third circle will receive Damage = 2.5 x # Banshees ... That's roughly comparable to the impact of the Holy Word spell.

Hmm I'd expect it to harm living units. Seems like a fun to use unit with teleportation but otherwise more of a crowd breaker instead of  a damage dealer.

I would love it if the ability worked like harm touch - you target a unit and the banshee goes there to use the special. If you have to move it and attack on the second turn it will be of very limited use..
