Guess the alternatives!
Hey guys, want to play a stupid game?
Let's try to guess the alternative upgrades. Every good guess = 1 point. I think nival will reveal at least a part of them soon, so we won't have to wait until fall.
Try to describe the unit a bit too! offensive or defensive, specials etc. Guessing the specials also gives 1 point, in case the name is wrong.
haven
1.Peasant-->Serf, an uber peasant giving +2 gold/day instead of 1 ), but without shield bash and without a/d upgrades.
2.Archer-->Sharpshooter some kind of wacko archer with a bow that shoots through obstacles like archmagi missles do, but without hurting his own units. Small statistical upgrade.
3.Footman-->Crusader I believe that the crusader was left out for a reason. We all wondered why "vindicator" is not "crusader" although crusader would technically fit better (since they were zealots, in most part, and that fits the demon-obsessed renegades). Abilities: No big shield, less defensive, but a proper double attack (not cleave), and a bit of init/speed more.
4.Griffin-->Big bad strong griffin. (Royal Griffin?  ) Slower, with low initiative, but with better hp and damage. Some kind of melee special, too.
5.Priest-->Monk, no spells but nice offensive power.
6.Cavalier-->geez, champion seems a natural pick. I have no idea here :X
7.Angel--> Again, fallen angel fits nicely. What can it be.. It can either be even more offensive unit (without ressurection, obviously), or a unit inferior to archangels in terms of A/D/damage, but with better specials. WHo knows.
Necropolis
1.Skeleton-->Skeleton Warrior, I feel it's a certain point here
2.Zombie-->Walking Death, kind of reverted upgrade of heroes3. Perhaps a bit more offensive, yet less durable.
3.Ghost-->Phantom? Bah, all those"wight", "wraight" and other ghostly names are already in use. Well, it can either be a fully offensive unit, or a true tank, who knows.
4.Vampire-->Nosferatu. Perhaps less durable, but with more powerful life drain.
5.Lich-->Demilich. Two possibilities here, no spells+even more powerful shooter or weakened physical stats+better spells.
6.Wight-->Reaper. Weakened physical stats, some nice specials included. Like, say, death stare? 
7.Bone Dragon-->Dracolich or whatever it's called. Aging special, even weaker in terms of A/D.
Inferno
1.Imp-->Gog? Magog? Drops manadrain for better offense/defense. Maybe even becomes a shooter.
2.Horned demon-->Horny damsel in distress. ^_^
3.Hell Hound-->Geez, basically a bigger, badder hound, with 1 head, but more durable compared to cerberi, and possibly with better damage.
4.Succubi-->Succubi Toilet Cleaner. WC picker owns you.
5.Hell charger-->bah. Infernal steed? Hell steed? Troublesome to figure out how such a unit may look & work. Maybe breath attack&more offensive, yet slower and less init?
6.Pit Fiend-->Pit Nigga. A big black demon with golden chain on his neck, singing 2pac's songs. Most likely without spells, but faster and with more initiative, so Teleport Assault is no longer needed.
7.Devil-->Fallen Devil lol. A nice, caring dude who likes to help old women cross streets. Comes with flowers and pacifist signs. Likes the beetles.
It's kinda hard to be creative here :X
Dungeon
1.Scout-->Stalker, no poison but no double range penalty, possibly more damage.
2.Blood Maiden-->Damn. No idea :-X
3.Minotaur-->Minotaur something. Maybe even king, who knows? We've already seen this one (on the screenshot). Those two really BIG axes he's carying make me think that he won't be a defensive unit. Sadly.
4.Lizard Raider --> Ken in barbiemobile. You can dress him in different clothes and wash his hair with a anti-dandruff shampoo!
5.Hydra-->chaos hydra. Less defensive, more offensive.
6.Shadow Witch-->Witch-that-does-not-moan-when-hit. Everybody will pick her stright away! Most likely a witch without spells, but with stronger shooting ability.
7.Shadow Dragon-->Red Dragon, weaker than it's black cousin but comes with a better special & higher initiative. Partially magic resistant.
Sylvan
1.Pixie-->another wierd tree-hugging butterfly-like thingy. Who knows what it might be.
2.Battle Dancer--> Andrev Golota. Beats only level 1-2 creatures, runs away from the combat grid if there's a level 6-7 creature around.
3.Hunter-->Another Hunter. One shot, but with some kind of special.
4.Druid--> Battle Druid, no spells, better at combat.
5.Unicorn-->War unicorn, can't blind and has no antimagic aura, but stronger and with some kind of melee special.
6.Treant-->battle treant. Offensive treant, oh noes!
7.Green Dragon--> Gold dragon, reduced initiative, but with better stats.
Academy
1.Gremlin-->Mechanic. Can repair three times per combat, but is a total wimp.
2.Stone Garg-->Asbestos Garg. poisones everything around ~~
3.Iron Golem--> Gold golem, either tougher&slower or faster&weaker.
4.Mage-->Battle mage, no spells but shoots better.
5.Djinn-->Master Djinn, again, either nospells&melee or poor melee& better casting possibilities.
6.Rakasha Rani-->Raksasha Eunuch. Keeps the harem wild&wet so rajas may enjoy some life when they get home.
7.Colossi-->Giant. Can't shoot, but is a better fighter.

Inferno-
Lvl 1- Corrupted Satyr
Higher att, lower def, lower hp, same for speed and initiative
Caster: Firetrap
Mark of fire
Lvl 2- Abyss monster
Higher def, lower att, higher hp, increased speed and initiative
Festering strike- causes enemies to "burn" every round, each time doing more damage until certain limit
Lvl 3- Vengeful canine
Speed increased to 8, initiative dropped slightly, def drops to 1, att increases to 7, hp unchanged
Unlimited Retaliation, No enemy retaliation
Lvl 4- Cursed Siren
Increased att, decreased def and hp, speed up to 6, initiative up to 11. Melee.
Caster: Confusion- advanced
Some new spell
Deadly attraction- Creatures retaliating to her attack have a chance (like fear attack) to have its damage reduced (up to 50%). Furthermore, her attack can cause creature's morale to dip by 5 for next round.
Lvl 5- Tortured stallion
Decreased def, att same, hp same, initiative same, speed same
Enraged. Fear attack.
Will dampener- All creatures next to it suffer decrease to att and def depending on tier level (from -1 to -7)
no inspiration for tier 6 and 7

I think we're gonna have Vampire -> Vampire Knight since Vamp Knights were in DM.
I'm hoping at least some of the alternative upgrades will be better for some matchups but not others like how in Heroes IV, you wouldn't always pick the same unit (Devil vs. Bone Dragon comes to mind).

Gremlin - Gremlin engineer - A Gremlin that is VERY very VERY bad at shooting, but he can keep fixing for ever! And he is Very very good at it and he gets less cloths.. because of his hard work... ( abit of humor and a serious thing.)'
Horned demon - Horned kamikaze - A fast horned demon, that runs to the frontie and then just explodes himself causing a good amount of dmg... He then makes a crater of fire, the dmg from the fire dmg can be boosted by Destrucktive magic... (a lot of humor and some serious things)
Peasent - Beer drinker - Ehhh? He sits in the tavern and drinks beer giving you money for each beer he drinks? He does nothing else... (pure humor)
Lich - Ballroom dancer - Armed with a HUGE dress, they dance all night long . Giving great moral to undead troops and making the enemy laugh. (Hmm?)
Hunter - Sniper - With 1 shop (not two like M Hunter) No ranged penalty, Huge dmg and new better camoflage look... (That sounds nice)
Rune Priest - Rune Monk - Faith booster(nearby troops get bonus to moral) Caster, spells: Endurance, deflect missile , A slity taller then noraml Priest and patriarch - (Good with a bit humor )
Minotaur - Minotaur raider - Fast, offensive, bravery, berzerk, rage, anger. Just a mad Minotaur that loves to kill .... (Hmm!)
