nice idea radar, perhaps in ToE, you can actually (almost) add a new race without taking the creatures

eg. 7 towns - level 1 alternative upgrade = new town!

This is an interesting idea. Very conventional in the line-up, but I guess that can't be avoided. I would like to make some suggestions for unit stats and comments on abilities.

Level 2 - Air / Storm Elemental
First off - don't make the storm elemental ranged! I know it was in Heroes 3, but let's try to just separate us *slightly* from that game! The Water elemental is now Caster, and Fire Elemental is now Shooter, so Storm Elemental should *not* be Ranged!

I suggest this for the Storm Elemental:
Attack: 3 (2)
Defence: 2 (1)
Damage: 1-2
Initiative: 17 (15)
Speed: 8 (7)
HP: 15
Other: -
Abilities: Flying, Incorporeal*, No Retaliation, Elemental, Immunity to Lightning
Growth: 10
Cost: 90


Level 3 - Water / Ice Elemental
The spells you suggest for this creature would make it grossly overpowered for a level 3 unit. Slow and Confusion have huge tactical importance, and a level 3 unit with Circle Of Winter is dubious enough already. Also, don't give it Fire/Lightning immunity - way too powerful, and illogical.

Attack: 4
Defence: 4 (2)
Damage: 4-6
Initiative: 10
Speed: 5
HP: 30 (20)
Other: Mana: 12
Abilities: Elemental, Immunity to Cold, Caster (Ice Bolt, Circle Of Winter*)
Growth: 8
Cost: 160


Level 4 - Fire / Energy (Plasma) Elemental
Plasma Elemental is a better name if you ask me. I changed the stats a bit from the current in-game values to make it more ballanced. The current version is extremely offensive, but the Fire Shield and high HP make up for the poor stats.

Attack: 8 (4)
Defence: 4
Damage: 8-16
Initiative: 8
Speed: 4
HP: 44
Other: Shots: Unlimited
Abilities: Elemental, Immunity to Fire, Fire Shield, Ranged, No Range Penalty*
Growth: 5
Cost: 360


Level 5 - Earth / Magma Elemental

Attack: 8
Defence: 12 (8)
Damage: 10-14
Initiative: 6 (5)
Speed: 5
HP: 75
Other: -
Abilities: Elemental, Immunity to Earth, Unlimited Retaliations, Magic Proof 50 %, Magma Shield*
Growth: 4
Cost: 650


Level 7 - Phoenix
To make this creature more ballanced, one should change the Rebirth ability to work as an activated self-centered Resurrection spell (like in Heroes 4).

nice to see your support here, alci! sadly there's no way to change abilities, there MUST be those I wrote. hard coded, you know, I am not a programmer. I choosed only possible way of modding for me but I will use these stats for sure!

with fire/air elementals, they will be shifted, I mean shooting air and meele fire.  but teleporting shooter, THAT would be nice

Oh yes, there is always the ability problem. I thought someone had found a way to work around some of that, but if not, I'm afraid it's going to be too incoherent. Oh well, you can always give it a try.

Great idea I found out how to create a faction so we don't have to replace Fortress and creating new creatures is also possible so we have ourselfs a great mod

And of course we need a graphic artist to make the portraits for the new Heroes, will they be the old Heroes?

All right, this is the same tutorial I sent to Radar:

I mostly use the Map editor for the creation of MODs. And I presume you have some modding experience.

First place a creature on a map, press ctrl+space and open the shared file copy it in a new folder (named Conflux for your mod) First we need to create a new model (or just copy the model of an excisting creature that uses the same model load your own textures in the materials tab. That's it for the shared now the harder part comes, we can't do this in the editor so we need to create the folders in the map: GameMechanics/CreatureVisual/Creatures/Conflux?/CreatureName.xdb I recomend you copy an existing one. You can edit the abilities, icons the name and the description here. Be sure you lad the model created in the editor as well. Now you need to create another folder: GameMechanics/Creature/Creatures/Conflux?/CreatureName.xdb. This file is an interesting one, you can create you can edit the cost elements an upgrade yes or no (if yes you have top assing it to an unupgraded one) the stats!!! spells and more. Don't forget to assing the CreatureVisual file you just created and the shared file.

Now you have to create yet another folder with file: MapObjects/_(AdvMapObjectLink)/Monsters/CreatureName.xdb. All you have to do here is assing your shared file. The creature is made now  All we need to do is add it to the Random monster blocks (you know that makes a random monster apear) Create this: MapObjects/_(AdvMapObjectLink)/Monsters/
Now copy the files Any.xdb and Level_x.xdb (x depends on your creature) from the a1-data.pak file from the same folder to your map's folder and put them here, create a new object there and add the shared file of your creature there.

texture editing isn't that difficult... just open the .dds file with Photoshop CS(2/3) and nvidia dds plugin (which you can find easily in google or on the nvidia page).. then edit the texture how you want it to be and save it in 8:8:8:8 with alpha channel (works also for editing icons)... if you want me to help, just gimme the textures and tell me what you want...

As far as I know, there is no way to convert a model (eg, .3DS) into a format that HV reads.  

If one happens, let me know and I am GOING to make some.

It is, I found the skin of that Firebird very easily, you'll probably find it yourself quite easily, or if there comes a time where you need it, I think I have the file lying around somewhere.
