"Isn't it sad how quickly people turn to violence?" Man asks his four-legged companion as he watches Bear and company fend off the attackers. While he admires the speed of which the heroes dispatch their assailants, he can't shake the feeling something is off.
He raises his hand to act, but stops when he realizes he's still wearing old folk clothes: a yellow button shirt and brown pants held up to his stomach with suspenders.
"Now how can I inspire dread and awe looking like this, Baskerville?"
He pushes a small button on his watch. The entire outfit morphs into a black, Victorian-esque suit, complete with shirt and all that. His cane follows suit, becomming black and sleak, with a platinum hourglass for a handle.
"Much better. Now to see what doesn't want to be seen." He shifts the cane to his left hand and grabs a handful of the air in front of him with his right. With little effort, he begins to pull back the space in front of him, revealing the true nature of the sudden victory of Bear and his team.

At first, nobody is sure what they are looking at. It seems to be glowing lines. There is a tangled mess of them, and they seem to connect to the figures in the combat. Or specificially to the ones that the group are in contention with. As soon as they are uncovered they surge and disappear, and the enemies just..vanish. It doesn't make much sense, but apparantly they were illusions.
The detail that was put into the illusion, the odd stipulation that the 'vampire' put on the fight, it doesn't make sense. In fact the whole town starts to fade..slowly dissapearing. Leaving only the group and Stargazer. Who is still just standing there, with a blank expression, wearing that silly looking crown on her head.
"What in Gaia's name is going on?" asks Rose. "Where did they go?" she seems really confused.
Bear snaps out of it and goes over to Stargazer. "Not important, at least we got Stargazer back." he tries to remove the crown. "Uh oh. It won't come off, at all."

An idea suddenly flashes through Mindreaver's mind.
"DAMMIT. Everybody pull back, it was a diversion. Our base is in danger as we speak. Bear get Stargazer, we don't have the time to fix her right now."

At the same time Problem Child reappears where Silk was supposed to be. He listens to Mindreaver and replies in a worried voice:
"Well, if the big trouble is back at the camp we better get back fast, get back to where we once belonged..."
Suddenly, the world around the group changes and they find themselves back at the camp in the middle of a fight. Problem Child looks around for a few seconds and smiles:
"Wow, who knew that this uncontrollable music stuff will actually work our way."

Just in time to hear Darkblade say. "No bloody guy in a tin can is going to get me to retreat. Listen guy, I don't care if you are bleedin Lancelot in that get up. Lets see if I can open up that suit and get a good look at you?" nobody has a clue what has her so upset, she is usually cold as ice. For some reason when angry she has an almost british accent.
Thing is, she is as good as her word. Her movements are blindingly quick, and fluid. Bit by bit the armor is sheared away, and it is not apparant how. The weapon goes flying, as does the shield.
Standing there, despite the onslaught, after the attack is what would normally be a very handsom man. Blond hair, well toned, and a single blue eye. Unfortunately the missing half a face (half his face is bone) and being partially rotted tends to detract from his attractiveness. Apparently whatever he is, he is also undead, but deffinately no illusion.
One of the people on the castle calls down. "Malfallus dear, I think it is time for us to go. Fetch what we came for and then lets get out of here. Pip is on his way, and we can't face him...yet. At least not in his domain."
The figure growls and you see an amulet form on his neck. He grabs it and you here a "Oh no.." from Jorn Saber. In the distance you hear what sounds like thundering hooves. They get louder and louder and a figure riding a rather large horse appears. It too is dressed in full armor, but this is a shiny silver armor. It has a rather large lance. "RUN, RUN FOR YOUR LIVES." yells Jorn, and..attacks the figure.
The lightning does absolutely nothing to it. Not so much as a twitch. It charges straight at Jorn, too quick for anybody to do anything. It's lance connects and...doesn't seem to hurt Jorn. But you hear something clattering and you see one of his armbands fall off. Malfallus holds up his hand and the armband goes flying to him. Turning, he starts heading to the castle. The Knight falls behind him and turns to prevent anybody from following him.

Hardly noticing the armored man's call for a fight, Liarron just kept on trying to choose his weapon. He almost decided to pick some random one from his selection, but that 'Brick House' person chose to take care of the guy, so Liarron just went back to what he was doing. And kept on doing such, until the most recent happenings.
Liarron looks up, with one of his wooden shards in hand. He notices the armored man walking away, then the knight who seems to be protecting him.
"Where did that thing come from? Well, no matter. May as well use this thing on someone."
Quickly charging the wooden shard, Liarron throws it like a javelin at the knight, hoping for a nice explosion. He gets ready to run, if needed.

The shard flies true and strikes the armored figure just as it explodes. Tremendous energy is unleashed. The explosion rocks the person behind the figure as well, and he falls forward. At first it looks as if he drops the guantlet, but the guantlet is floating in midair. A voice giggles "Yoink! Got it, oh and I'll take that also." the amulet is ripped off of the downed figures neck.
As the energy clears the mystery knight is still standing, with a gaping hole in it's armor. The hole closes instantly, but not before revealing there is NOTHING in the suit. Just empty air. Both it and it's steed seem totally unharmed. However, it starts to fade away.
As Ghost appears, with the guantlet and amulet in her hands, the mystery figure salutes her as it vanishes. Ghost starts running toward the group. ((Had plenty of time to do what they wanted, further update coming  )).

Just about as the one called Malfallus was about to chase after Ghost, there comes a mighty roar. Just in time Malfallus ducks as a jet of fire races over his head. A dragon, unlike anything you have ever seen streaks past.
It's hide appears as if it is made of diamond, and it's eyes of rubies. It is so large that it almost blots out the sun. The concusion of its passing knocks everybody off their feet, even Purrrfect known for her amazing balance. Just as you think it will take forever for the beast to turn it..changes.
Falling from the height, twisting in mid air to land creating a rather nice crater is...an old man. An old man wearing shades wearing robes.
Malfallus growls. "You little blue hairy.." and the next word deffinately comes from more your time then this. "I am going to.."
"You will do nothing, but tuck your tail between your legs and leave. You know that here you can not face me, not all of you combined."
For a moment it looks as if the fiend is going to try, but instead he retreats into the castle. The castle vanishes.
The old man coughs in a long fit, and then collapses to the ground.

Man turns his head, ignoring the beast king's vain effort to remove his new, golden crown. The litany of curses fails to meet the ears of the mysterious man and his dog.
Power. Incredible power was radiating from somwehere nearby. No, not somewhere, someone. Someone very old with enough power to be a serious threat.
Well, a serious threat to the world, but to one such as himself. Man smiles at the thought and signals Baskerville to follow. This individual would be interesting to observe.
Crystalline liquid begin to shift about in the our glass on the tip of his cane. The blue beads don't fall as expected. They vibrate rapidly as time and space begin to warp around the stranger and his companion. In an instant, he is standing twenty feet away from the old man lying on the ground.
"Would you like a hand?"

The figure waves off the offered hand. "I wish I could accept the help, but I am afraid it is not wise. Whoever I touch I can become, power and all." he slowly stands.
He looks at Man and slowly smiles. "Thank you for your offer. Your group..they don't belong here. Not that anything belongs in this powers forsaken place, but your group especially." he hobbles over to a log and sits down with a thud, mumbling something about getting to old for this. "We..I don't have much time. Tell me why you are here, and what you want. I might be able to help, before it is too late."

Man quickly drops his offered hand.
"I don't think you'd want to be me. The results may be a bit too much for you to contain." He pulls up a seat beside the old soul, looking over him with great interest. It's not everyday you meet a power mimic.
"We are here, because I altered the time line. This particular reality is how reality would have appeared if technology had not advanced to the level it had. Due to my intervention, the old reality has been replaced by this new one."
He waits for the gravity of the statement to sink in.
"As to what I want, I'm just here to make sure things don't get too out of hand." Baskerville begins to grow bored of the conversation, circles three times, and lies down next to his masters feet.
"Now," he offeres a genuine smile "you mentioned your were out of time. Perhaps I can help with that. I have a knack for time."

He waves the others to have a seat, and looks at each in turn. "No, it is not entirely your fault. Something here helped things along. It is called simply the well." There is a shimmer in the air, and you see a village with makeshift housing everywhere. In the middle is a rather large well, and flowing out of the well is a powerful stream of magic. The magic looks tainted, however.
"A long time ago, the world was dying." The image shifts to earth about what would be 2200 AD. People are killing each other in the streets. "All over the world, man was killing off each other. Then the diseases came, and finally..an atomic war."
He falls silence as the images show nations prepairing to launch Atom Bombs. You can sense a sadness from him. "Fortunately for mankind, there was hope. Three people, all willing to take a huge chance. Now, in the original time line..they were to become something more because of a meteorite. That failed to happen, however. Instead they worked together to build a machine."
He coughs and hacks for awhile, and you can see Ironside and the Gemini's building a device over several days. Not eating, sleeping, or resting. "Now I do not know exactly what they built, but it worked. When the nations launched the bombs, it did something to them. Instead of a nuclear (spelling?) blast, they became an electromagnetic blast, destroying all electronics through out the world. Time passed."
The images start out changing slowly, but quickly speed up to a dizzing pace. "Without the ability to use machines, or make more that worked, a vast majority of humans parished. They had relied on them for far too long. The population of the earth went from an estimated 10 billion to millions in a very short time.
"Man was on the brink of extinction...until magic was discovered. Magic had been unused for a long time, and had built up and built up. When it was able to be tapped again, it came back big. Everything was great for awhile."
The images showed good times, and man was making a comeback with the magic. "However, where there is good magic, there is dark. They dug too deep, and something..tainted the magic. It has corrupted everything, everybody I knew. I only excaped by pure luck. I happened to be out of the castle when the taint corrupted it."
For a minute his form seems to waiver, and he almost passes out. He manages to control it...for now ((Hehe pause in the story to let people get a few words in if they want before he continues))

Finally he is able to continue. "I am dying. My people, my kind are extinct. I am the last. Barring some miricle, I have only a few days at most to live. My name is Pipsqueak. This is not my normal form, but every day in my normal form ages me greatly due to a disease that only effects my kind. In the time I have left I can help you. Tell me exactly what it is you wish to do." There is a feeling that he is not saying everything, and a sense of despair about him.

"So you are the last one of the dragonkin? I wish I could help you but I have a feeling there is little to be done.. My wish...All I want is to find a way to return back to our time, if you know of a way please tell us. Maybe magic can be tempered somehow to achieve this?"
Then Mindreaver can't help but add. "Oh and is it possible we could use magic ourselves while in this place?"

Pipsqueak chuckled. "Dragon? No, I am not a dragon. I am not even from this planet. My natural form is about 3 foot tall. I have blue hair covering my entire body also. As for sending you back, that is easily within my power.." he trails off for a moment. "As for magic, here anybody can use magic. Of all different kinds. Careful what you use, however. Any magic that can cause harm can carry the taint. If...," again he pauses, "you wish to go home, I will send you."

Problem Child listened carefully to the tale of this world, a world that got rid of technology, that brought man and nature closer together, a world that achieved true harmony... a perfect world. But even in this utopia human greed and evil managed to reaise its ugly head and corrupt the very source of the harmony, the true powers of nature. Problem Child's mind began to fill with anger and disgust, so much in fact that he could barely control himself.
"If...," Pipsqueak addressed the group, "you wish to go home, I will send you."
"Home?" Problem Child asked, his body almost visibly vibrating with intensity, "I would like nothing more than to return to my home, to my planet, to my time... nothing more except one thing - finding the ones responsible for the corruption of this beautiful world and forcing them to return everything to how it was."

The old man sighs. "If only it was that simple. The people you faced earlier were once paragons of good. They actually travelled to places rife with evil and set things right at one time. Why do you think, with all my power, I haven't put an end to their reign of terror? No it is the well, that accursed well. Whatever foulness lurks at it's bottom is the source of all this worlds ills."
His body is wracked again with terrible spasms as he coughs and wheezes. It is plain he is dying, and probably soon. "It maybe some elder dark god or any number of things. It would take great power, and great determination to stop it..."
"Um guys..don't look now, but we have company." pipes up Ghost. On a hill in the distance there is 3 figures on horses. One is covered in sores and has a ... robotic eye. It looks an awful lot like Ironside, but yet is clearly not, it rides a sickly looking horse that is gaunt and thin.
The second wears blood red armor, and rides on a powerful looking steed. Its face is that of the invading alien menace from the time you came from. The last wears black platemail except for the face, and rides a pale white steed. It's face is that of an oriental woman, who looks familiar from the floating castle.
They are a good distance off, but obviously observing you. There is a vague feeling that there should be yet another, but they have yet to arrive.
Pipsqueak looks at them and sighs. "It is as I feared, there is something much darker and greater behind this. We must go quick if you are going to try to make it to the well. Or if you are going to try to leave this world. I have not much time."

Man gazes intently at the new arrivals. He leans on his cane as he sizes them up. Nothing for him to fear.
His cane hums silently. Man looks irratated as he inspects the hour glass on the tip. A mob of beads dances around the top half of the glass while a few stragglers wait patientily at the bottom.
"Looks like I expended a lot more energy than I thought," he mutters to himself. His right hand flickers at the last of the words. "Lovely."
"So," he begins, placing his right hand in his coat pocket, "what exactly needs to be done to restore things around here?"

"It is rather simple to explain, hard to achieve. Whatever is at the bottom of the well must be purged. There is a small matter of getting to the well, and then actually confronting whatever is in it. I can be the distraction to get you to and into the well, but beyond that I am afraid you would all be on your own. Literally. From what I understand, you will each face something, and each person's trial would be different. Once you make it past that, you face the real problem. What that is, I have no idea."
