((Will edit if anybody decides not to go into the well. Remember, due to the special properties of the well the first stage everybody is alone and must face their own trial without help. Including any animal companions (of any kind))).
Problem Childs test - Before you stands a two open doorways. One leads to your own time. The other leads someplace unknown. You sense that this is not a trick, if you pick the door that leads back to your time you will actually be there. A voice is heard "Mankinds future is set, violence is in their nature. Your actions in the past will not be able to change that. However, the future holds little if anything for you. This is only the first stage of your trial. The voice of all the innocents cry out for you to aid them, pick a door and proceed.
Trial 1a - Past door. He is thrown in the middle of a violent protest because of a food shortage. He still doesn't have his mike, and people are being trampled as starving people desperately try to get food. He knows he can not control his music without his microphone and his power could make things much much worse. If he does nothing, more and more people will die... (Should he pass this test after confronting whatever is the source of the taint he will be sent back to the past. None of his actions will change the future that he has seen however.)
Trial 1b - Future Door. He finds himself in a concert, he is up next to sing. The microphone he is using is not the special one. He knows that people are loosing hope because of all the problems that they are facing, and he maybe the only one who can give them hope with his music. (Should he pass this test, he will go back to the future with the others, and has a chance to change things for the better).
Varjo - He finds himself fighting an unknown enemy bent on killing him. The enemy is his equal in every way (no this is not a case of him fighting a shadow of himself or a mirror opposit  ). Whoever it is is determined, and seems to be under orders to fight him. He gets the distinct impression that killing his foe would loose him this trial, but no impression on how victory might be claimed.
Malice - An endless field of opponits for her to destroy, with Entropy (the head of CoED) sitting on a throne of skulls watching her. Blood flows ankle deep, and she has any weapon at her disposal she could ever want.
Mindreaver - A vast library with endless rows of books, all with blank pages. No entrance or exits, and no clue as to the nature of the test.
'old man' - A place outside time and space, where his powers do not work. A giant machine of unknown design and origin is in front of him. In the middle of it is a hourglass that has been turned on its side. The machine is working and spinning, and its gears and power source are innaccessible. Again little enough clues as to what the test actually is.

"Hmmm... Been awhile since we've been in a place like this, huh boy?" Man says as he approaches the device. Baskerville follows behind cautiously, clealy uneasy under the conditions.
"So why would this be on its side?"
He studies the curious structure.

The machine is a bit unusual. It is rather large, and cumbersome. It has three rather large concentric sharp rings, and three smaller ones. Each is rotating swiftly around the hourglass, and look painful. Under this is large panel, but it is guarded by several large drill like objects, also spinning. On top of the device is a glowing crystal orb, way out of reach. The hourglass itself is engraved "Time/Space".

"Interesting," Man grumbles to himself, annoyed by the sinister defenses of the time piece. Baskerville attempts to probe the device but is quickly discouraged by the twirling drills.
"Hmm... what exactly am I going to do with this?" Man contemplates using his awesome technology, but dismisses such thoughts quickly. If he doesn't have access to his domain, he certainly won't have access to his tools.
Cane in hand, he folds his arms as paces about the room. "Is this device protecting? Or is it imprisoning? If it's protecting... why would someone want to protect me from myself? If not, why is it a jailor? What secrets lie within the glass cage?"

Problem Child found himself in front of two doorways. He looked at the one that leads to his time.
"Less than an hour ago, I would've jumped in there without hesitating, returned home to all the things I know." He thought to himself as he remembered everything that had happened to him in his time, "But can I really call that place my home? My family is no more because of my own rampage and even the hippies I've met, friendly and helpful as they were, always saw me as someone different... alien to them. These past weeks were the first time I have really belonged to a group of people... well, people-ish creatures that didn't see me as odd... or too much odd."
He looked at the door to his time again and then turned his gaze to the second door.
"Besides, I have caused great destruction and pain in my life and the only good things I seemed to be able to do in my time is stop small roberies. This time gives me an opportunity to save humanity, to restore peace and harmony..." Problem Child pauses for a second, "To make amends for everything I've done."
With this words flowing through his head the music master walked through the door to the future.
The first thing that Problem Child saw was a blinding light. As his eyes adjusted to it, he noticed that the light comes from big projectors and that he stands in the back room of a huge scene. Before he understood what's going on a man pushed him to the center of the scene, saying: "Go on, you're next!".
The next moment, the confused time traveller found himself on a scene with a microphone. He examined it closely hoping for a miracle, but it was just a plain microphone connected to the amplifiers. As he looked around he saw an enormously big crowd, in all the concerts he had been to in his life, he didn't see anything that came even close to this crowd in size... or in saddness. That fact surprised Problem Child the most, in all the concerts he'd been people may have tired, drunk, stoned, beaten up, but always happy and excited. These folks had this strange look in their eyes, as if nothing matters anymore, as if there is no hope and life is just a chore that needs to be done. The music master who have always tried to bring joy and happiness wherever he went could stand this much sadness. He tried to talk to the crowd, but his words seemed to vanish in the depressing silence that surrounded the scene.
"It looks like there's no other way." Problem Child sighed, "I must do something for these poor people, and the only thing I can do is sing... even without my microphone. I just have to make sure I pick a good song, a song that can't do any harm..."
He stood there for a minute, going through his option in his head, until he finally chose something that seemed to fit. He looked at the audience and shouted to them as loud and as excited as he could:
"Don't worry dudes, you control your own lives, you make them what you want, and as long as you gonna do what you wantm you're gonna make it! We're Gonna Make It!

With the music echoing Problem Child realizes he is full control of the song, even without the microphone. His control has come a long way from where it started, but their is something more. As the song swirls and spreads the scene starts to fade.
Now before him is a giant area that looks like space, but without the stars. Instead stairs and doors are everywhere, but in the middle of all this is ... something. At first it looks like a giant beholder with millions of tentacles all connected to the doors, drawing power to it. Problem Child quickly sees through the deception, however. It is not near as grand and powerful as that.
It is a beast of shadow, however, and enough problem in of itself. One of its 'tendrils' splits off and takes Problem Childs alternate form. Dozens of other tendrils also break off, and follow the first, but they do not take form. Now he will have to face his darker half, and it's 'allies'.

The illusionist casually observes his surroundings and the sheer size of this place is almost overwhelming, books as far as his eye can see. There is no sense of urgency but he is not sure what he is supposed to do either. Checking a few books he notices that the pages are blank. Typical, it HAD to be a riddle.
"That's...unusual. Now what?
Maybe there is a specific book I am looking for? Is it about a personal revelation or an attempt to find what we are about to face?"
Picking up the closest book he takes out a pen and writes on the first page. "What is this place?" It's a long shot but you never know.

Returning from within the jungle, and back to the camp, Liarron sees that those who had been speaking with that old man have already left.
"Well then... I've been left behind, it seems. So much for giving a guy time to... Oh well."
Liarron looks around, unsure of where to go.
"Since I don't really know where they went to, I think I'll go see if I can learn something. Maybe how to tap into this magic that everyone is using here."
He heads towards town, in search of something.

Before he can even put pen to paper the page fills with words.
"This place does not technically exsist, please ask a different question."
Meanwhile
Liarron is just about to head toward a different location, when the old man reappears. Filling him in about the situation he gives Liarron the option of joining the group. However, he has another option for him.
"If you would rather..we could always keep people from interfearing at the well by blowing things up near it. The majority of the things around the well are creatures, not people, and I have not really stretched my wings for quite awhile."

Liarron was a little surprised, and a little annoyed, at the old man's return. If he had wanted Liarron to go with, then he'd not have left without him. But, Liarron decided to listen to the old man anyway.
"While blowing stuff up can be fun, I was about to go see if I could learn how to use the magic of this world. That seems most interesting. Second interesting would probably be seeing what’s in that well thing. Least interesting would be hanging out with you, blowing up some random creatures that I’m sure you’re more than a match for. So, I’ll take one of the first two options there.”

And with that you are brought to a rather attractive lady wearing a dark satin outfit. ((Though your character would not be aware she would look like a twin to the one dressed in silk the others encountered). After Pipsqueak explains why you are there, she agrees to teach you.

The book writes again. "The key is in asking the right questions."
Apparently he is right, it isn't going to be that simple.
'Man' Since the room is empty other then the device, there are only 3 things that really stand out (besides the sharp blades). The orb, the hourglass, and the panel. With his knowledge of time and space, he knows that as complex as something like this is, if it is some sort of 'jail/locking' device (or similar) it would not be keeping in anything seriously dangerous. The device could be easily destroyed if he put his mind to it.
Chances of it being some sort of jail/locking device is slim. Since the orb is not guarded (and just out of arms reach) it would be safe to assume it is minor if anything (though of course that maybe what whoever designed it wanted people to think) while the panel and hourglass are heavily guarded. He realizes that his own mind devised the test, however, and that the obvious answer might not be the correct one.

Questions.. There certainly are a few unanswered, that's why I'm here. For starters hmm..
-What is the deal with that crown in Stargazer's head?
I hardly paid any attention to it when we recovered her but it probably has an important role. Then there's the matter of the future confrontation.
-What is corrupting the well? How can we stop it?
Wait this is getting interesting. Let's try some more.
Who is really that old man and how did he acquire these powers..?
Heck I've seen him do things I would not consider possible.
And a final one I've always wondered about.
Who was created first, the chicken or the egg?

"Out of time, eh?" The joke falls flat. Baskerville has never really been known for a great sense of humor. The dog is more content sniffing the vast nothingness of the room.
"Nevermind" Man grumbles as resumes analyzing the device. The key to leaving is clearly the heavily guarded hourglass. He contemplates trying using his stick to halt the circles, but dismisses the idea. Force won't work here. Not physical force anyways.
Man raises his hands towards the massive time piece. "Worth a shot." He concentrates on the center of the hourglass, attempting to manipulate its contents through sheer force of will.

Pipsqueak’s long talk indubitably bored Malice, though she had listen well on it especially when the old man gave off some valuable information about how he can help sending them back to their original time. Malice did not want to spend more time in this strange world facing anomalous looking creatures from time to time with unusual powers and gadgets totally unknown to her. All she wanted to do was to go home and finish orders Entropy had given to her and most of all find his most treasured thing in the world - her gundam. And with those thoughts, craving for her normal life back, Malice decided to go with the test the old man had given her.
After a moment she found herself into a different place, far different from the jungle where they were before. It was fast, how did it happened was beyond her knowledge, she just stick to the fact that they are in this magical place where anything can happen like the fairy tales she had been told when she was a kid, purely magical.
Malice didn’t notice the pool of raged creatures zealously heading towards her until the ankle deep blood went deep in her boots and wet her feet. With the blood’s presence, her sleeping fume had once awakened again. Her furious eyes began to scan keenly the place and the structure of her unknown opponents thinking for the best approach she could plan and apply when she accidentally saw Entropy sitting on top of the pile of skulls watching her. Confusion had struck her for a moment, Entropy’s presence in this place seems impossible, but her mind immediately reminded her that this is a test she must overcome so she could go back to her time. But Entropy’s presence was still a puzzle to her. It is possible that he’s here just to watch her perform and if Malice could impress him she’ll pass or he’s here to kill her.
Her enemies were closing in. Malice backed a few steps trying to buy some time, thinking how she could possibly beat these endless enemies with her bare hands when her foot stepped onto something. She looked down and with her surprise she was stepping on one of her favorite guns fully loaded! – the newest model of AR 15 Carbine had staggered her and besides it lays a survival knife. She knelt down to pick these weaponries; her left hand grabbed the gun while her right seized the knife. But she wasn’t fast enough, one of her opponent closed in, stood in front of her, held its weapon close ready to take her down. With a little less time, her body quickly reacted; she gathered some force on her feet while flipping the knife into a backhand position, then she jumped off with the knife’s tip slashing deeply the enemy’s belly, then to its chest up to its chin. Blood from her meager kill had splattered on her face almost covering it. And she loved that, she became more vibrant. As her first opponent went down, another one stepped in front ready to smash her with its blunt weapon, Malice turned immediately to dodge it while her knife hastily hacked her opponent’s throat cutting it severely. She then saw another one from afar readied its rage weapon pointing it directly to her. As this third opponent pulls the trigger, Malice just grabbed her fresh kill and use to shield the incoming bullets. Dozen of holes had carved the unfortunate body but luckily none had pierced through that might hit Malice. Confident that the attack was over, she peeked onto her new opponent, once spotted she brought up her gun pointed it and shot her opponent relentlessly.
“Take that!” she screamed in ecstasy followed by a vindictive laugh.
More and more had come and tried to destroy Malice but she never tires, she enjoys as if each kill gave her more initiative to kill more, seems that she feeds on it. Hack and slash here, point and shoot there, dodge and hide, blood everywhere. Malice took pleasure in this endless dance of death. All she knew was she need to survive, and to survive she needs to kill and with killing she benefits, with all of these in her mind her dreadful instinct solely took control of her making her a total killing machine.
