Mark's cheerful smile remained frozen on his face as Mina babbled constantly. Trainer babble was interesting enough, I suppose, but generally you give the person you are talking to a chance to get a word in edgewise. Mark had actually started to black out a little in the middle there before she mentioned training. This brought his attention back instantly, and Mark smiled and nodded, about to try to say something when Mina mentioned his arm. Mark winced and his smile faded away. "I... it's ok." Mark looked at the ground and shifted nervously. "I was wondering when you would ask... I lost it when I was here with Zelgius. Did you... know him at all?"

Mina blinked, not expecting to hear that name in conjunction with such a nice kid. She managed to fight back the drugs enough to avoid saying so, however. (She was too loopy to remember that Mr. Lorend had actually referred to Mark by name—and mentioned that the latter had lost his arm.)

"White hair, trained a Scyther and an Aron? Loud and prone to grandstanding?" By sheer force of will, Mina managed to hold her attention to the subject long enough to wait for confirmation before continuing. "Yeah, he was at the Shatterhigh Pokemon Center a few days ago. Last I saw he was running off into the mountains. Haven't seen him since, but then, we were going in the opposite directions at the time."

((Is that how Fire Emblem is set up? I compared it to Final Fantasy Tactics with Pokemon—turn-based, grid-shaped battlefield, specific spots on the map you can visit...but yeah, it's been out for a couple weeks in the States and I assume Europe has it now since B-E-T-A does.))

"Why on earth would he leave his Pokemon behind?" Mina asked, puzzled, before rambling on. "But he took off from the road leading to the Shrine of Light. Just after we got done blocking it off to slow Bandra down, so I don't know where he went from there. You'll want to be careful if you go that way, it's in Bandra territory now." Mina really wanted nothing further to do with Mr. Zelgius Lorend, but as Mark had just gone through the entire failed attack on Keida it seemed wrong to let him go without help, even if his friend was an idiot. "And...hmm. If you've got an old shirt of his, or something, I could have Houndoom track him for you."

((I was going to bring up Sarah and the jacket, but that piece of conversation was normal speech level not Zelgius bellowing his lungs out, ergo Mina wouldn't have heard it.))

The Manager looks around to make sure no one's listening before telling you in a low voice:

"We're running out."

When this fails to bring gasps of horror from clear across the room (and indeed, no one seems to have noticed at all), he continues.

"We have a little supply problem this close to the Bandra front. Normally it's no bother because we don't get many people to feed, either, and we keep a good stock of staples on hand. But the spices my chef goes through are a lot harder to replace. I can't complain, because she's kept this place open through the war, but with the big influx of refugees we aren't going to be able to keep up with the inroads she's making for very long."

((*looks it up* So that's where Marth and Roy came from!))

"Because he wasn't Zelgius's pokemon..."

Mina, being paranoid and suspicious at the best of times, naturally jumped to the worse conclusion possible. And the antibiotics made sure it came right out.

"He STOLE YOUR POKEMON?!!"

The outrage this thought induced was sufficient to launch Mina into a sitting position with a garbled snarl of "kidnapping mildew licking swine!", and she had to grab hastily at the sheet to keep it in place. She didn't stay that way for long however, as her body reminded her forcefully why she shouldn't do that and the chaperone Chansey fwapped her soundly with some rolled up paper until she lay back down.

"Thanks, I actually have an old jacket of his... but if he is in a dangerous place, then I don't think it would be a good idea to go after him. I'm sure he'll be fine..."

"If you're sure," she replied seriously. "The nurse probably won't let me out for a day or two anyway; if you change your mind in the mean time come find me and I'll be happy to help you hunt him down." She blinked, feeling sleepy after the momentary exertion. "Just don't go by yourself, 'kay? Your 'Dex isn't linked up and you won't be able to call for help."

Mark nodded, still not making eye contact. Maybe he wasn't here just to get Zelgius back... His prosthetic limb had clenched into a fist and trembled slightly.

"Thank you, Mina." Mark looked up, giving her a sad smile. "If I decide to go... I'll be sure to take you up on your offer." He sat down on the end of her bed, sighing. "So... when you're well enough, do you want to train with me?" He seemed to want to get off of the subject all together, and so he was saying the first thing that came to mind.

Mark:

"So... when you're well enough, do you want to train with me?"

"That would be fantastic," Mina agrees readily. "In the mean time, I'm going to see if I can find something to give us an edge, since I can't do anything else right now."

It's about this time that the nurse enters and shoos Mark out, claiming he's straining the patient (apparently she heard Mina shout).

----------------

Stacey:

"Young lady if you don't mind, I'd really appreciate it—and I'll pay you for the trouble of course."

The manager pulls out a napkin and a pen and starts scribbling on the former.

"The spices we need come through a maritime trader by the name of Captain Boom. Dream ((you remember the Elite Four member who saved everyone's hides at the very beginning of the campaign?)) got Tidepath out from under Bandra's boots as of yesterday, and last I heard the Captain was headed there to unload some cargo. If he isn't there now he probably will be when you get there. Look for him by the Grand Docks—mind there are two sets of docks—and look for his ship. It's called the HS Scrubba Dubb, with two b's on the 'dub', though I don't think you'll find another ship with that name in port.

Ask for him, and tell him Charlie in Rieva wants the usual. Don't let him charge you for it, we've got a tab with him going—we set it up a few years ago so none of our couriers would be robbed—but he'll hassle you about it anyway." He hands you the napkin with the pertinent details of the conversation on it: Captain Boom – HS Scrubba Dubb – Tidepath – Charlie wants the usual.

Stacey takes and pockets the napkin. In doing so, she moves her leg in a way that causes pain in the bruised area, but not enough for her to give too much a reaction.

"Right. To Tidepath. Any route you would recommend? Or, any you would recommend against?"

Also, you might want to watch the time when you get to that area; the road to Tidepath floods with the tides—hence the name—and mostly you can only get across during peak high and low tides."
