In his heart, Christian knew that this fight was over, his only hope of winning would be pure luck with critical hits and misses, but he doubted that would happen. Still, the show must go on, so Christian sent out his Scyther again and called out for a wing attack.

Mark:

You go back to the Center and get your Pokemon healed without incident. The nurse reluctantly allows you to check in on Mina, but the dark-haired trainer is asleep—though by the looks of things, she did get a hold of some magazines and appears to have been scribbling about something or other as there's a pad of paper with fresh writing on it lying on top of them.

You get a bed to yourself, tonight, the Pokemon Center having emptied over the course of the day. You awake around 7 AM.

----------------

Mina:

((Time to catch me up...))

Mina spent most of the morning and early afternoon very unproductively, as the infection and the antibiotics took turns warring on her concentration. She slipped into a doze shortly after Mark left, her outburst having worn her out a lot more than it should have, but awakened a few hours later with a much clearer mind.

She begged a couple magazines off the nurse to keep herself occupied and barely remembered to ask if any of her friends had come in to the Pokemon Center—not being able to trust the Pokedexes, it was the only way Mina could think to check on them without running into them in person. She was in luck; the nurse had news, even if most of it wasn't good.

Stacey had made it, along with a Starlight Squad member although it hadn't been Sparky. Sparky had made it, according to the nurse, but had gone to Skybreak instead (as apparently had one or the other of the Nurse Joys who had been in Ternai during the attack, she being the source of that particular bit of news). The girl who had joined them outside the Shatterhigh Mountains, Sarah, was missing. No one was sure what had happened to Dien. A few of the Starlight Squad who had been with them were missing. Brona hadn't come back.

Mina got a bit of a sinking feeling in her stomach; how many people had they lost? Making a break for it had seemed like the best idea at the time, and she'd tried to get as many people out as possible...maybe she should have gone back to make sure...but she suppressed the feeling as best she could for the time being. Realistically there was nothing more she could have done then, and there certainly wasn't anything she could do about it now: they'd been in transit (and she'd been in the Pokemon Center) long enough that if they were in Bandra's hands, they were dead now, and going off and getting killed too wasn't going to help them. Better to recover now and avenge them later.

But the nurse was continuing. Back in Ternai, Draloed was missing and so was Pellana. Elder Monac was dead by most reports. Zack had been taken to the Skybreak City hospital before the attack and was presumably fine. (Misty had apparently come in within the last day or so, grievously injured, but after the redhead's idiotic performance on the way out of the Shrine of Light Mina was neither surprised nor sympathetic.) The nurse was able to name off half-a-dozen more Starlight Squad members who had made it out, but while Mina was happy for them intellectually she didn't know any of them personally.

Seeing that she was not helping her patient recover, the nurse excused herself and sent her Chansey back with some magazines. Mina paged through them for about an hour and a half, after getting the Chansey to retrieve her paper and pen from her pack for notes.

She skipped over the sports magazine; she was not athletic by nature although the Pokeathlon ad on the back caught her eye long enough that she took note of it anyway. There was a pamphlet for the University of Helnith, which she also skipped; she didn't have the money or time. A Regional Geographic kept her entertained for a little longer; there were a couple articles on fossils, and a long, detailed article on Pokemon Breeding—the latter of which she had little interest in on a personal level, but figured might have some tactical value since Bandra was obviously weaponizing it, with the end result being that she now knew more about Pokemon reproduction than she did about human reproduction. The University pamphlet also had an advertisement for Trainer Hill; this detailed its location which she wrote down.

But the fossil articles reminded her of the mountains, and the mountains reminded her of Mark and his stolen Aron. A lot of the conversation with him was fuzzy in her memory, but she remembered enough of it to be worried. The idea that she'd been in close proximatey—while sleeping, even!—to a Pokemon thief bothered her a great deal. They were already taking risks, fighting Bandra, but her Pokemon were made for battling and she'd so far managed to get them away from the fights they couldn't win.

(And to her mind, Bandra wasn't so much a risk as a guarantee—they would have to deal with them sooner or later, Altros showing up to kill them all the very day they first set foot in the region had made that clear.)

But being stolen—kidnapped—whichever—that was a frightening risk. She rarely kept more than one Pokemon out at a time when she wasn't actively battling, and there were good reasons for that, but the fact remained they were in palm-sized balls with no way to escape or protect themselves if someone tried to take them.

She fretted over the problem for a while before deciding she ought to be doing something productive instead, and pulled out the report that had gotten them into so much trouble in the first place. She was still puzzling it over an hour or so later when she dozed off again.

----------------

Stacey:

The red-eyed girl takes a few minutes to get a link cable from the nurse, hooks together your Pokedexes and presses a few buttons.

Tide Checker Protocol Download Complete!

She then gives you back your Pokedex (and returns the cable to the nurse) before waltzing out the door, humming merrily to herself.

Afterwards you head to the coast. It's either peak low tide or very near it when you arrive, and from where you stand you can see what looks like a maze of rock and coral spanning everything except a clear cut south. Within the latter there remains some semblance of a road with a raised end still enduring against the elements not far up from the high-tide marks, but by the looks of things the rest of it collapsed years ago and has since been pounded mostly flat into the exposed sea bed. Besides yourself a handful of people are milling around on shore nearby, discussing or perhaps arguing. This time of day a lot of the area is, if not perfectly dry, certainly dry enough to walk on, with pools of sand and water both scattered between the rocks. You find one of the latter and begin to fish.

((How long do you fish for?))

----------------

Mark stretched, did his morning ritual, changed into a new pair of jeans (dark blue denim) and a white shirt with a picture of Froslass that said, "Ice, ice, baby." Woot. He remembered to brush his teeth this morning and pulled out his journal while he waited to be allowed to visit Mina. He began drawing all the pictures and record what had happened to them so far. And what pretty, and vividly detailed, pictures they are~

Hope once again filled Christian's heart, with Beautifly down the biggest obstacle was linoone with it's headbutt. While Scyther could not withstand one more hit from the normal type, it could withstand 3 with it's full health back. So while Christian new it would hate the medicine, he gave him an energy root.

((Scyther takes an energy root and follows with one wing attack. With any luck, the opponent will use headbutt once, realize it won't OHKO a fully healed Scyther and decide to use tail whip once again))

Stacey seated herself, and brought out the pole to start fishing. Mona decided to look around for some natural food that might be around. Stacey wondered what she was doing for a bit, then figured it out. She got out the non-pokemon-item leftovers that she had, and used them for lunch while fishing. She fishes for roughly three hours.

Mark:

The nurse lets you in to visit Mina about 7:30 AM; the other trainer looks much improved from the day before, as she's sitting up in bed and scribbling notes. A plate of bland-looking, but mostly eaten food is sitting next to her.

"Hi Mark!" she greets.

Christian:

You use an Energy Root!
Scyther regains 47 HP!

Scyther spits out most of the root, but not before its effects can take hold.

"How many of those things do you have?" ((You're actually out now; I forgot to knock the previous one off your inventory after using it on Geodude. If you bought a third one some place, link me to the post and I'll fix it.))

Mark cheerfully smiled to her and waved back. "Hello yourself! How are we feeling today?" The second part was asked as blandly as possible, as if he were impersonating a doctor. To add to the illusion, Mark held his journal in front of him as if he were holding out a stat-sheet for a patient. He had outlined all of his pictures already and added a few sub-notes about what was going on, but that was about it. No color... yet.

Stacey figured she might get one of these pokemon with her fishing. She had already requested Mona to jump in when it appeared, and try to poison it.

----------------------------------------------------------------

vs Krabby

As Krabby appeared she thought about sending Luxio out, and hitting it with Spark. She, instead, sent out Snorlax.

"Alright, Snorlax, lick that Krabby!"

Mark shrugged, sitting on the end of Mina's bed. "Well, not very much..." He seemed to consider what he had said and added, "Well, if you don't consider catching a new pokemon and winning a trainer battle as very much. Oh, and catching up in my journal." He held up the still-open book, "Well, sort of catching up... just drew the picture outlines so far... but anyway, back to what I first said! Yes, I caught a new pokemon!" Of course, Mark being your super happy trainer type with a slight (ever so slight) case of A.D.D. returned to the fact that he caught a pokemon almost religiously.

"Alright, Mona, use acid on it now!"

----------------------------------------------------------------

Stacey has second thoughts on capturing the krabby. There was a water type she would like more. Sure, she wasn't guaranteed to get it, and could have no chance at getting it at all here, but she wanted to try for something besides krabby.

((vs. Magikarp))

Mona dispatches the poisoned fish with ease.

Mona: 65/65

Magikarp: 0/25

((vs. Krabby))

Snorlax squashes the Krabby flat without fanfare and kicks its unconscious body back into the water.

Snorlax: 127/127

Krabby: 0/32

You put your Old Rod back in the water and continue to fish. The tide has slowly started coming back in and your little pothole of water is filling again. Twenty minutes after your battle with the Krabby you feel a tug and pull up another Magikarp.

Magikarp: 23/23

No sooner have you put your hook in the water after dealing with the Magikarp when you feel another tug. An unenthusiastic struggle brings up a Tentacool, presumably trapped by the low tide.

Tentacool: 31/31

Mark and Mina:

Mina looked over the Flying type as well as she could from her bed.

"Cute," she offered. Her brother had a Swellow, and it was a decent Pokemon. (And she was fond of Flying types anyway, with a few notable exceptions.) "It'll be useful against those Machop." It would also be another Magnitude-immune Pokemon, though as the Geodude usually had Rock moves they would still need to find a way to counter those...Mina snapped out of her tactical analysis to return to the conversation.

"The food is terrible. But I did get some leads on what we can try next," Mina tapped her notes "since fighting Bandra directly isn't going to work out for a while yet. There's a place called Trainer Hill south of Skybreak where I think we can get some training in, it's supposed to be a big battling tower." Mina vaguely recalled hearing about it during the Battle Festival and remembered they'd said she could get Battle Points there; admittedly she didn't know how useful those would be, but the battling itself might help. "There was also a place called the Pokeathlon by the west coast; we'd have to go through Bandra territory to get there but we can try it if you like."

"I also found out Stacey made it here, although I haven't seen her around. I'm not sure about the others except that Sparky went to Skybreak, so they might have gone there instead." She hoped.

Mark and Mina:

"Sorry. Maybe I'll pick up something from town..."

"Don't worry about it; it's edible just very bland. I should be out soon anyway." Mina privately suspected the nurse was giving her bland food on purpose to discourage her from getting hospitalized again—then again, maybe they gave all their patients such tasteless meals. Mina hadn't been in the Pokemon Center that long last time, and hadn't been subjected to what they fed patients.

"Hmm... Would we be ready for a battle tower? My pokemon are pretty young and all, so I don't know how well I would do there. It might be fun though. Same with the Pokeathelon."

Mina shrugged. "I figured we could always look into it and try something else if we're not ready. I'll leave it up to you though; I'm not picky."

"If she's still around, then I could look for her. I'd need a picture though...I'm not really good with the whole name-face thing."

"She's the one with the Snorlax and the brown hair down to here" Mina motioned to her own shoulders "who made it to the Center right before Hannah showed up. If you don't see her don't worry about it; I'll leave a message with the nurse later." We know she's still alive, and that's the important thing.
