The reason I dropped SEL is because I was watching it online (ironic), and the sound didn't match up with what was going on. I might pick it up again later, though I have a LOT of stuff to watch.

I went and watched the first part in Genocyber that I've last seen a decade ago.
I was disappointed at the voice acting. English cast did very good till about 15 minutes in the film where random lapses start happening. Switched to japanese to see if they were any better. No luck, just as bad if not even worse.
Finished in english since it happens in hong kong and the usual quality is okay. Most of the voices fit the characters better too.
Otherwise it was still pretty good. Few lapses in storytelling that leaves you in the dark at a few places, part of that goes to the voice acting just suddenly going horrible so it might have distracted me at those places.
The art is excellent and the animation is rather good. Some excellent use of change of style at times to create a different feeling or to make an impact.
Soundtrack is simply godly. Electric rock/metal sounds are the majority but there are slower pieces for the touching moments. You just have to love it.
Looking forward to watching the end of the series(it's a five movie OVA) but I have a slight memory that the rest weren't as good as the first.
Now finished them all. The first three are great. The last two just okay. The second and third have an excellent english dub. The last two not so. There's a lot of reading from paper. Didn't check the japanese dubs for the last four except for a small glimpse. Seems better than what it was in the first and the last two would propably be better off if watched in jap dub. Also the translation in the last one fails, Onee-sama is translated as big sister in the english dub. *facepalms*
Now if you'll excuse me. I'm off to my nostalgia filled dreamland with Elaine and Diane now....

So Satoshi Kon is dead, guys.
I'll probably watch paprika and perfect blue today. I hadn't seen much of his work up to now, but he seemed to me like a great and original artist.

General warning to anime fans: avoid gankutsuou like the plague. You're beter off watching any film adaptation of the count of monte christo (the classic or the modern, either version is good) or even better: read the original book. Just don't watch the anime adaptation. It is awful. It's only redeeming feauture is the original visuals and art style.
It tries to create this whole moral aesop of "revenge is bad" (and the inclusion of mecha is ridiculous).
EDIT: It's not an epic revenge story! They twisted it into som sort of coming-of-age stoy. Whose bright idea was it to make the least important character the protagonist? Graaaah!
EDIT2: Demographic seinen? Don't make me laugh! It's aimed at my ten year old non-existent son.
EDIT3: it's like the claymore ending all over again.
I'll have to watch one of joonas' recommendations to get over this.
*picks texhnolyze instead of black lagoon or xenocyber for some dark and probably very stupid reason*

Or the mangaka probably needed the break. I can only imagine how tiring it must be to draw, week in week out, especially in One Piece where the art style is "unconventional".
And, what's with the covert jabs to Bleach anyways?
(Keep in mind the only anime/manga I follow out of the three in Naruto, and my experience with the other two are a movie [Bleach] and about 3 dubbed episodes [One Piece])

it's mainly because Bleach as sort of... gone to s**t. Tite Kubo had made some great head-way when it came to using the Arrancar's, the hollow powers, and so on, with some great elements of character growth. but it all seems to have been dropped for Sosuke "Dues ex machina" aizen. two captian level Shinigami's (the most impressive level there is) verses a 50 storey demon, possible an epic battle is left to focus on two people talking. a climatic battle between the strongest of the shinigami and the one character who can defeated is forgotten about to see Aizen transform into a butterfly.
interestingly, in my eyes, Naruto has actually gotten better. ever since we finally got to see the kitsune come out more, Naruto has become a better series. the particular high point is where he meets the ghost of his mother, to which I had to look up the credits to see if Keishi whojamaflap actually wrote that scene, the same man who maded two girls knock themselves out on their own stupidity.
as for one piece, don't panic lads, this little hiatus is a good thing. Ode Eichiro has stated, fairly clearly, that this is the half-way point, that this time skip is the point where one piece continues on... on hereing that there is going to be at least 10 more years, I nearly crapped my pants with excitment.

@bixie: Oh, that sounds like the mangaka got sick and tired of the manga and decided to troll his fans. 
That's probably what Mvass took a jab at too with his Aizen pic recently. 
And yeah, Naruto is awesome right now.
The Kage Summit Arc is about to start in the anime if I recall correctly, and the latest Madara fight in the manga was sweet.
Madara is starting to spawn Deus Ex Machina of his own though (though I can forgive Kishi because, well, mysterious character with unknown capabilities...), but not so much as Sasuke "Fail" Uchiha (who I can't forgive, because, seriously...seriously?!). -_-

Have been reading shin angyo onshi and I have to say it's pretty good. It takes place in a world reminiscent of ancient Korea, and follows the Korean-folktale-inspired adventures of Munsu, one of the few remaining guardians against corruption and tyranny, as he seeks to find those responsible for the destruction of his country.
The protagonist of course is hardly a paragon of justice, he's a cold, cynical snow whose methods almost always involve excessive bloodshed, lying, torture, and other questionable acts  The mood seems to be equal parts serious and cartoon-silly, I highly recommend it. Plus it has been concluded and you won't have to wait half your lifetime like with berserk

Finished watching Seirei No Moribito today.
For the first six episodes I coudn't believe what I was seeing. A series that actually beat every single thing I had ever seen, be it cartoon, movie or a drama. I was quite impressed by it. I heartily recommend to watch the at least the first six episodes to everyone.
After that it lost concentration and started jumping little all over the place, quality suffered greatly. The rest of the series are just your everyday series.
English dub is excellent.
But seriously, watch the first six episodes, you won't be disappointed by them. And that's a good place to stop too, since the arc is over there.
