My friends I already wrote to all of you - that CrazyPill have found the METHOD of creation MESH using *.mb by means of the recustomized Map editor. Now I complete (now ready 90% for Russian version) the instruction on usage of this method if it is interesting, I can give all of you a test map with imported objects from HOMM 5 (alpha) and Age of Empires III (I Like This Game!), but at first time I have slightly modified them according to requirements of HOMM 5)!

CrazyPill explained how to do it on page 2 of this thread. I don't know what you guys don't understand: that's how it is. Yes, you need Maya. That's the only way (for now), since Nival also used Maya for creating Heroes 5.

Maya, Blitzkrieg plugins and slightly modified scripts now works together, so you can put any 3D object into game. The only problem that I feel myself an idiot missed this easy decision year ago.

1. You need a computer with Maya and HeroesV(I tested with Tribes of the East) installed. Blitzkrieg plugins are supplied for Maya 4.0-6.0 Haven't tested with newer versions yet.

2. Download archive with Blitzkrieg plug-ins for Maya. Extract files to YourHeroesPath\Editor\MayaExport folder.

3. Download archive with H5 editor configs. Backup ConstUserData.xml from YourHeroesPath\Editor\ folder, than extract archive contents there.

4. If you are using Maya older than version 6.0 update paths containing this number in ConstUserData.xml to your Maya version.

5. Make subfolder Complete in your Heroes folder. All the paths to source files(*.mb for 3D stuff) are relative to this folder by default. You can change this folder in ConstUserData.xml to the folder of your choice.

That's all. Now Object -> Export command from Heroes editor menu should work for all models parts: Geometry, AIGeometry, Skeleton and BasicSkelAnim.

NB: You made all changes but Heroes editor refuses to start at all? Return backed up at step 3 ConstUserData.xml to YourHeroesPath\Editor\ folder.

UPD: Archive from Step 3 updated on May 08. If you have May 06 version please update.

I just tried. I did export, a ms dos windows opened. Nothing is written. After a few moments, the editor reload itself, and nothing happened...
I have been looking for the model I exported, in Complete, data,... And it is nowhere. Why ?

Read CrazyPill's post on page 2 in this thread, or the above post which quotes it.

You have to do some extra steps, such as downloading the "Blitzkrieg" plugins, not just save the mesh directly with Maya and put it in game.

It is necessary to use Maya 6.0 though it is possible also lower versions, but to use only Maya 6.0 as Nival used Maya 6.0 for HOMM 5

But how do we make, anyway, when we DON'T have maya 6.0 but only the PLE 8.5 ?
I use another program, totally free, that can directly import .wrl files (that have been mesh file converted in .wrl), we can directly modify them then export them in .obj, convert them in .ma with 3DWin5, then convert to mb with mayaFileConverter.exe.
OK it is a long way, but it works.

It is Blender.
BUT, this way seems to work only with geometry files...
BUT, (yet with multiple conversions) :
1)Exporting with the editor the mb file
2)Convert mb to ma with mayaFileConverter.exe
3)Convert ma to obj with 3DWin5
4)Import obj in blender.

It works theoricaly. And without Maya 6.0... But we may loose informations in multiple conversions :s
It is to see...

So far you can't. Unless somebody manages to program the converter, the only way to make this work is using the same tool Nival used: Maya 6.0

I think we were already able to extract the current models into .wrl files using that tool CrazyPill provided. The problem was to pack them into the game, was it not?

The author of this method are CrazyPill and I only by means by CrazyPill have made the most detailed instruction for usage of this method, but this method will function only if you have installed Maya 6.0 (5.0, 4.5 and 4.0) as CrazyPill has thought up the method of export on a basis plug'ins' for game Blitzkrieg 2 (developer Nival).

Using CrazyPill's utility mesh2wrl it is possible to create wrl and to edit already in any 3D editor or to use Maya's utility wrl2ma.

If all of you have models (*.mb and *.ma) in the format distinct for Maya 6.0 (5.0, 4.5 and 4.0) send to me on my e-mail: psatkha@mail.ru

This instruction already is completely ready in Russian, today my three friends will test it and then I will precisely know, correctly-whether I have written the instruction. If all is correct, the instruction in English will appear in the near future time!
