I don't think Maximus can win vs Aragorn, especaily when the latter wields Anduríl, the Sword of Isildur. Elven swords, man, top quality!

Aragorn killed a troll(is not seen in the movie, at the gates of mordor), lurtz and countless uruk-hai... If you're suggesting that Maximus is better then a troll... No, I definately think it's Aragorn

Sorry but Aragon all the way... the dude is 85 (or something arround that) and has way more battel experience than our ex-general Gladiator. Aragon just has the style and skill to kick our maximus friends sorry roman can to the dark side of the moon!

Aragorn would win because it wouldn't be fun at all if some roman guy I never heard of would just kill off a character that everyone who hasn't lived under a rock for the past 50 years knows and most likely loves.

I'm not talking about the troll in Moria either, I'm talking about the trolls that was at Mordors gate(not seen in the movie). Pippin and that Gondor Tower Guard of Minas Tirith killed the troll king, which is the only troll at the battle of the black gates which gets killed(or...get killed and it stands in the book). right after that the trolls corpse falls atop of pippin, and he hears "The eagles, the eagles are coming!" and thinks "No, that's Bilbos story" and faints. After that the ydon't tell more about the battle at the black gates.
Btw, Maximus was an Roman general, and a galdiator hero, he single handedly took out *can't remember all he took care of*, humiliated an emperor, littelary walked up to an emperor and spited in his face. +++++. Maximus > Aragorn
Edit: Ohh yeah almost forgot, this is an one on one sword and shield battle, Aragorn don't usally use an shield while Maxmius is an master of this kinda of combat.

Aragorn since he is 87(at the picture), and thus far more expierienced in warfare than Maximus.

I would like to believe Aragon, but as Beta says Aragon doesn't use shields. He use his 2hand-sword where Max. have many weapon skills..

Tough one... While I prefer Aragorn as a character I'd have to say that in one on one battle Maximus would probably win. Aragorn never had the need for duels with skilled warriors and has more experienced in slaughtering countless monsters and simple grunts, while Maximus have fought with the fiercest opponents in the arena.
