Final Fantasy 8
I finally started it, looks fine so far. Right now I'm clueless about what's going on or how gf and magic works since I was too bored to read all those instructions  At least now I know who Squall and Quistis are that Joonas was telling me about  Any things I should be aware of, hints?

Been a long time since I played that game.
GF's is like a summon.
The more a specific player uses that GF, the more compatible he/she is with the GF.
GF's are like pets.
For example.
Squall gets Ifrit & you use him more. You can cast Ifrit alot faster then other GF's.
You lose compatibility points when using others.
If you neglect using that GF, they wont be as compatible.
Basically I would not switch off GF's to other members in your party.
Once you decide to have Squall use Ifrit, let him use Ifrit only until the end of the game for full compatibility.
Squall & that one GF you get later where the GF can cause all abnormal status & some damage works great with him.
Since you can exploit some of the bosses weaknesses & you usually always stick with Squall 
Hope that helps .
If you feel you need to switch GF's to someone else. It wont kill you
Try practicing playing cards too .
It's fun & you can win some rare ones .
Here is a clue.
You play Rinoa's father & purposely lose the ifrit card.
That is the only way he will play with the Rinoa card

oh I love this game. My favorite, along with FFX.
Tips?
->Zell has the most powerful limit break, almost broken (if you're really good you can get 1 000 000 damage..)
->Despite what you may think, Irvine's best ammo is Fast ammo and with auto-fire you can top Squall's Lion Heart limit (around 300.000 damage is possible!)
->Leviathan's "recover" command is a life saver (heals one char for 9999). It also does 9999 dam to zombie creatures.
-> Same for Alexander's revive. And it instantly kills zombie creatures.
-> Aura spells are the king for boss fights (enable limit break without having to pass the crisis roll)
-> Use GF Siren's ability to refine Curagas from tents. 5 tents give 100 curagas, 100 curagas junctioned to HP give +3000 HP. Do I have to mention how easy the game gets? 
-> The game is extremely easy anyway. But highly enjoyable.

You really should read all that. It's kinda necessary for the game. 
One GF? What are you babbling about Acu? Put multiple ones on the guys.
You will be using three person team the whole game anyways so you can always transfer GFs junctions and magic between the groups.
I'm not giving any particular strategies since i think they take off the fun nad discovery of the game but be warned that some bosses do ultima right before they die. Sucks to realise then that none of your characters have enough HP to survive it.

Never asked for strategies, I'll figure them out as the game progresses As for bosses that reminds me of the emerald weapon Man it took me some tries to defeat it, I hate all-powerful moves that kill your party instantly. I had used mini to shrink enemies and make my heroes 7767 hp, used a 10hp potion and entered with all heroes having the 7777 attack

That reminds me of my most annoying ultima boss ever back in FF6.
There's a tower where you can only use magic. No items or attacks. I went there aproximately twenty levels too soon and cleared the whole tower to the top using mostly a trick including reflect on enemies and reflecting berserk on my own guys. 
Then I found a very difficult guy on the top. With hours of fighting I managed to beat him and what does he do? Ultima with little under 7000 damage! The best of my guys had 2012 HP.
So that few hours of fighting him and a day or so climbing the tower was all for none.

FF7 was easy
FF8 was super easy
FFX was beyond easy, not counting the dark aeons from international version
idk about FF9, I have yet to play it ;p

I get the feeling that this series is more about exploring the storyline and seeing things than the actual challenge.

Final Fantasy pretty much is always about that. Epic story lines, beautiful scenery, crazy battles. IMO it is if not THE best line of games out there, then ONE of THE best.

You can get challenge in to the game if you don't level your guys up at all. And I really mean not at all. Just run through every place. Fighting only minimum amount of battles.
I remember my friend in the end of FFX had trouoble topping the normal enemies in the last place. The final boss proved to be easier than beating two of the normal guys in succession.
But final fantasy is more about the story. Every RPG is. You can make all of them easy if just level up some.

I hate grinding It's silly to stay in an area killing mosters to gain a better level, I always prefer to choose another mission if the current is hard.

I want your honest opinon on the Music Elvin. One of my favorite things about the FF franchise is they always have some UBER music.

I will have to agree from what I've seen so far - FF7, the movies and what little of 8. At some time I had played the final fantasy adventure but I hear it was quite a deviation to be considered final fantasy
Uhh noobish question. I foolishly got poisoned in the training zone, how can I get back to normal with full health before going to my test?

@Elvin: Use an antidote/remedy or something.
Here is a good tip for you: When fighting a boss, be sure to check out if you can draw a GF from it.
I hope you have read the tutorials about drawing and junctioning magic.

Another tip. Most of the GFs have special ability or command. Get them fast, they are very useful. For example, I always use one of my chars as defensive healer-reviver. Quistis works best since her mighty guard supports this tactic well.
So she would have
Attack
(command)
Restore
Revive
the extra command can be anything, GF, magic or item
As for her abilities, I always set
Auto-Protect (bahamut)
Auto-Shell (doomtrain)
plus two other fillers (Vit+60% or smth like that) to make her really tough to take down.
Maybe she's not as effective as other chars with major damage limits, but I really like that strategy ;p Cause she will survive almost everything with ease and have the power to recover and revive the damage dealers all the time.

When you get later in the game, read up on the Angel Wing-Meteor combo. It makes Rinoa seriously IMBA.
8 is fun, but it isn't my favorite. IMO, 7, 9, and 10 are better.

Well meteor wing isn't even close to Duel or Fast shot in power, you know.
And causes problems with junctioning (can't junction ultima and such spells. Only those not compatible with angel wing will work..)
