Hi I've installed the Equilibris mod but when I go to a shop that allows multiple items to be purchased the arrows that allow to increase or decrease each item amount don't appear.

This works OK on the un-modded version. I've tried it on both a laptop and Desktop (both running Win 7 x64).

It's HOMM 4 Complete from Uplay that I've tried installing it on.

Cheers

I'd try my  Luck asking in the Equilibris forum over at Celestialheavens.com
The mod team Should been able to answer this/if it's a bug they might want to know. But most likely Dalai would say the issue came with Uplay

Hi everyone and happy new year !

In a fit of nostalgia, I wanted to play Heroes 4 again. So I purchased and downloaded the Windows version of Heroes 4 (all expansions included) on GOG. I then installed the game on my Macbook Air using Wineskin. I was able to install and launch the game successfully, everything ran incredibly smooth, couldn't believe my luck...until the first battle, where everything became incredibly laggy.

What I noticed :
- Unit animations in combat are extremely jerky / choppy
- Everything seems to be slowed down, especially the projectiles which take forever to reach their targets
- As soon as the battle ends and I go back to the adventure map, everything runs fine again. So this lag occurs specifically during battles.
- It really is a big issue because it makes the game nearly unplayable during combat and takes away much of the enjoyment of the game (I hate the auto-combat feature)

What I tried :
- Changing the "combat speed" settings doesn't change anything
- Turning off animations in the game settings only affects the adventure map, which poses no problem to begin with, and has no effect on combat animations
- Running the game in different resolutions and / or in windowed mode had no effect either

Unfortunately some of the fixes I found on internet (running the exe file in 16 bits, Windows XP compatibility, etc.) are impossible to implement since I own a Macbook Air.

I'm hoping some people here are still active and still got love for this game (which is the best Heroes game for me, even though I know this is an unpopular opinion). Any help would be much appreciated !

Thanks in advance !

Sadly all trouble shooting solutions I can recall you either already listed or they were for windows. You couldn't find/search for any general solutions for how run windows games on Mac?

It's probably bad Wineskin config. Try with PlayonMac instead of Wineskin, it's more user-friendly. Install non-listed program, select 'use another version of wine', 'configure wine' and 'install some libs' before clicking next. Usually latest wine version is fine, make sure to select 32 BITS install. In configure wine tabs select Win7 or WinXP and select all tabs under graphics (emulate virtual desktop is not mandatory). Then install GDIPLUS lib. From this point the h4 installer should run, after install is over don't launch the game yet, click exit. When asked, create h4.exe shortcut.

This worked on Linux without trouble, so in theory should work on OSX too.

NB. If you further want to install some mods like Equilibris or Nimo's mod, 'configure => run an .exe in this virtual drive', then create the mod.exe shortcut.

Hello,

First off, apologies for my late response. Apparently I forgot to enable notifications so I wasn't aware you replied.

I want to try your fix, but unfortunately I accidentally deleted the Heroes 4 setup file and downloading it again from GoG takes AGES. My internet speed is pretty ok (50mg / s) but for some reason downloading the 950 mg setup file from GoG is going to take me... around 3 days. I wonder how people manage with more recent games that take up several gigabytes in space.

Anyway, I'll let you know how it works out as soon as I manage to get my hands on that setup file. It might help other Heroes fans like me who sold their soul and got a Mac...

Ok, tried it with PlayonMac. Not sure about it being that much more user-friendly for a noob like me, but hey, beggars can't be choosers.

Unfortunately after following all the above steps and installing Heroes 4, animations in combat are still choppy and slow-motion-like. And the adventure map is also laggy, which wasn't the case (or was much less noticeable) in the previous Wineskin installation.

Maybe I went wrong somewhere in the installation ?

Anyway if you have any more tricks up your sleeve I'd be more than happy to make another attempt. In any event thank you very much for taking the time to try and help me.
