Kisp-lower center garnizon

Yeah, Kis did it nicely. On contrary i played terrible and could have taken out at least 3 dragons more. Yet, his lost 47 bloodwitches proved crucial in final.

About the final:

Kis was very unlucky and he hadn't managed level-ups to acquire empowered spells! This was extremely painful as dungeon needs all prerequisites to fulfill to dominate sylvan in final. Also, i was mistaken and he didn't possess swift mind either. Seems, Kis was short of one more level-up. Other than that, Lethos had impressive defence, spellpower, initiative and spell damage booster arts.

Talanar had lion's set for the final but that was useless as only 2 casts took place. So in the end i had every inefficient surplus of morale. But i was really lucky to find initiative arts in sunken that had the decisive impact on ATB. As for Talanar then i couldn't believe that my initial plan of having Retribution failed. Also, i had only mass haste from mass spells. In section of favorite enemies i was able to find only hydras from his high level troops. Consequently, i was very anxious about the final...

As for battle itself, then i was surprised to see that Kis has only 5.5 stacks of meat. Yet, he outplayed me in poker element with troop displacement. To my great relief Kis chose to not hit/block arcanes. My worries grew when it turned out that only windies from sylvan key units (windies, arcanes, ponnies, dragons) had morale. None had luck. Ponnies at least befriended closely hydras and life looked brighter. But only after Lethos cast that surprised me greatly i understood that odds are in my favor Finally, in 2nd round sylvan troops organized fireworks with luck. Treants also got familiar with hydras but that was already not necessary.

All in all, Kis played very good as witnessed by his garrison battles. I think he was very close to victory if not for the strategic blunder of not gathering Dwarven Set. This was my biggest menace throughout the game...

Thx for the game

Forgot to add that the result of semi-final series in THE CAESARS is:

Strider HL 3:2 Kispagat

Only two contenders left near the top of this very steep mountain. Final will feature matchup between:

Firedragon 008 vs. Strider HL

Let's have fun! Shall we?

Even tough I think Strider in general better player than me, if we look at these 5 games, he showed no extra except incredible economic skills and brave break on titans and wolves in the final battle on day 2 week 4. (This latter is strategically equals of giving up the game, but he was lucky not to pay the price)

I had 3 really unlucky game here, and the worst or/and the most painful was this final.

It has begun with strike out, those matchups were miserable.

At the beginning of the final I was really disappointed. I had black dragons at my monolith, my starting arties were poorest ever: ring of vitaliy and sack of endless gold (250/day). I changed from Yrwanna to Lethos and hoped that decay will do the job, and I dont need wm. Things went quite ok and week 2 was week of fever which in general favours magic factions, but ruined my plans to break runepriests and air elementals and co.

Week 3 was week of infirmity (-20% defence for evil races). This gave me no other option but to try 16 black dragons on day 4 week 3. Naturally I needed to retreat first, I lost 60 assassin there with killing 6 blackies.

Second try was better, but I lost a day, and that was crucial. I was not able to organise to kill guards at keymaster's tent, which were again worst possible: runepriests. Usually a secondar yshould go there with some army, but I had no clue how to do that since my assassins are gone.

From black dragons the skilling screwed me all the way. I needed only empowered spells, arcane intiution and swift mind. These were high hopes, I was forced to choose sorcery, which is useless in the final, and some other poor ones. I managed to get distract, and I tought it will help a bit if my init is higher then sylvan's.

I had very good arties I beleived. I was wrong. Strider had the ones to win the game. On this map arties are not so easy to collect, and he got second ring of celerity, dragon graeve, and dragon armor and knight set. That statement that this was useless its just simply crazy. With the help of that set Talanar was able to cast two despite of distract. Second cast, cleansing was game winner.

I was really annoyed when I realized that even two rings in my pocket, my army will be slower and still I will suffer first strike.

At that moment I made a decision, about which I have a little questionmark in my head. I have found sandro's cloak in the first arti merchant. At this moment I had another option, I could buy it, and try the main garrison, if I can run away from Talanar. I think it was possible, but I convinced myself that week 5 fight is better than a week 6 fight with swift mind.

So I attacked him. About furies, if I block arcanes, dancers would hit my dragons and his dragons hit my dragons and withces for free. So it was not a mistake. Therefore lost furies in the garrison do not matter.

No luck morale on key units is not true, cuz dancers got both, even tough luck does not matter, cuz they would kill furies without luck, but morale was important to boost Talanar.

If my calculations are right, I casted one circle of winter, and the dragons resisted it with 15% of resistance.

Then irressistible luck invasion destroyed my army very shortly. I bought death cloak in the shop to decrease louck to 30%, but the ratio was over 50%.

Slyvan vs dungeon is always an init battle. I lost the competition for init arties, did not get swift mind, so the final battle could not be other than loss.

Ceasar is over for me, it was fun, but I cant stand to say few words abour Strider, who has good chance to win the most valuable title of tournament of honor.

Simply  he is not able to keep his words. Several times we ageed when to play, he just did not come. No excuses, what so ever.  I was constantly waiting for him.

Volleyball, hockey, tennis, anything might be much more important than heroes. Its not accident that it took 6 months to finish our 5 games.

Anytime, when it was convenient for him, he ordered a save, mostly without even asking me.

He oftens start to chat during the battles mostly in key moments, when he feels that opponent might screw his move. Even in the final battle he could not shut up.

Sad, that the strongest player in ceasar is a person like that.

Finally, I must say thank you to Elvin, Hero Radoo, Sq and Firedragon, Fraudatio,Zilo who helped me and were ready to discuss issues related to my games.

It is a shame that kispagat lost after so valiant an effort. If anything this Caesar's has taught me how complex the game can be through the eyes of a finalist and this is as complex a map as it gets. Not my cup of tea but twilight is a map for experts that pushes the skill of players to their limits, forces you to make hard decisions, shows what you are made of. Yet for all the strategies and tactics the game was decided by lack of empowered spells and initiative artifacts..

Congratulations to both though I can't help but feel disappointed seeing that strider still disregards his opponents' time. Whether attributed to psychological warfare or lack of commitment it leaves a bitter taste to an otherwise excellent final.

Looks like Jinxer are right, so many games decided by luck I ready to quit heroes this days As example from one of my last game - i want light with Sylvan vs Academy, not offered... On level 17 i take dark, i get frenzy spell ... Level 22 i failed to get imbue+rain of arrow, gg ... In last game - i get early with Haven light magic, i have haste spell, but entire game not offered mass haste skill, no resurection spell, gg ... Heroes have too limited control over the situation for a strategy game Players plays many hours and in the end game decided by arts, missing skills, luck ...

Well, rankings did not change drastically their layout for an year, so, luck or not, it seems it is still faithful to skilled players, as in old times.

Finally something you and I agree on Infinitus... and I am sure noone will really care.. but after todays game I had with Buxyrs... it was final straw... near impossible to have a game that the outcome is based on skill of the players... but instead based on roll of the dice luck.. does luck or morale trigger for him and not you.. etc etc... Empathy today triggered couple dozen times in battle and made a game that he couldnt win turn into a slaughter..

So I ask my self.. whats the point in even entering into a game of heroes? When at the end of 8 hours.. the game itself will decide the outcome based on roll of the dice. Its silly to waste the time..

So I am pretty sure I will be finishing up my saves and finishing up arena and then leaving... and hoping that Heroes 6 will be better thought out and acutally some multiplayer considered in its creation.

Good luck to all... ( literally! )

I think both Strider and Kispagat deserved a place in the final... and this was actually the real final of the Caesar.

The bad thing is, that it was decided very much by strike-outs ... Kispagat and Strider played pretty much on the same level, very little difference between them, in last game maybe Kispagat was the daring and brave one, but the faith of the game was mostly decided before the game started. Perhaps, Kispagat's only mistake was not striking this match-up, instead of the Orcs vs. Dwarfs, but Helmar vs Academy(or Orcs) would've been hard anyway.

Shouldnt matter to you anyways natty.. I quit playing the likes of you long time ago... every since then you have been bitter. Not counting you... there are plenty of honorable fun players... but thats not what is lacking... its way to much luck/morale roll of dice factors that decide game instead of leaving it to the thinking and strategy and battle tactics of the players..

For example.. Heroes 3... was soo simplistic comparted to H5.. yet.. its basic battle structure was PERFECT for tactical planning.  There was no random intitiative ATB... there was NO 6 units of one player going before even 1 unit of other player...  The system was simple...  Battle order was Based ON SPEED of the units...

you could look ahead of battle and plan your battle.. none of this silly Empathy moving heroes multiple spaces ahead every time a random morale happens.  I guy places puppet master on a unit cause he planned and seen that the hero was acting after and couldnt remove it in time.. and one morale moves hero ahead 2 spaces.. " still safe.."  woops random morale then poof hero moves another few spaces ahead.. now hero is ahead of puppet!!!  How do you plan???

This is just one example  seems almost every game has some silly thing like this.. 1 PERK or 1 Spell should NEVER beable to decide a game like it does now...

Just struggling with " why enter into a game where the outcome is likely to be randomly decided by roll of dice in the final battle. "  Would save alot more time to just flip a coin at start of battle and report WIN for Heads.. Loss for Tails...

Sadly, Kis, your post obliges me to respond...

You are a sneaky fox hehe Since you whined about time issues several months ago, we have always arranged play time. Also, never has there been a situation where i save and quit Problem for dragging game so long is also partly on your shoulders that you conveniently didn't mention. Namely, he can play only starting from 22.15 my time and no wonder that i offered saves around 12-2 a.m. or was too tired. But the most surprising is that i never heard you complaining about this... Hopefully, stabbing-in-back manner is not part of your personality but rather bitterness about defeat...

As for your so called "bad luck" i have expressed my opinion in previous posts Please, note also all those who complain about great luck factor in heroes - in long game most things can be substituted or plans B or C implemented. The only arguments about unfair luck factor i accept are those based on probabilities and one place where it is too late to counter it - final battle. Concerning latest game, below are my comments.

1. Strike-out was error on your part.
2. Bad start for you?! Yrwanna with bloodwitches and Lethos with mana pool of 90 at start of week 2 is bad?! Week of fever surely hit sylvan harder. You had blackies near castle but i had 16 titans and almost no army...
3. Lost initiative battle?! Look in manual and compare native initiative of troops. Your dragons even with 30% ini would still go after wind dancers and this comparison goes on. Funniest is that you again regard it "natural" that you have mega arts and whine about opponent having some as well even i cleared the center hehe
4. Bad arts for you?! All my arts for final battle except one came from the center that i visited on week 4.
5. What about spells?! For the 4th game in a row i did't have haste in guild. No righteous might either - both spells are crucial for this setup.
6. Level-ups?! Yes, this was terrible bad luck or mismanagement for you to lack empowered spells. Tell us - did you skip it somewhere in beginning? Swift mind was also crucial. Here you really suffered... I had cleansing but was never offered master of blessings that was big blow to counter Lethos special. My generally weak sylvan hero Talanar also lost his primary purpose when "retribution" plan failed.
7. But most of all i think you let the victory slip out when you didn't gather Dwarven set even though you had a time window and unnatural mana pool for dungeon. How on the earth it is not possible to take tent in 5 weeks?! I call this simply - profound mistake unworthy of Caesar contender.
8. Final battle. Sorcery bad??, army composition, deployment, witches movement, circle of winter - to my experienced arena mind that all seemed so erroneous that i won't even comment here. My Lion's set... i cast mass spell with swift mind. Ofc, my second cast would be before your hero even with 15% distract hindrance. Yes, it let me move up a bit but it was relatively very little as with hasted sylvan units this bonus is much smaller. I even got a bit angry to observe your lack of arena skill after so loooong game

Conclusion. At times you played very well, clearly demonstrated great courage and often smart strategic decisions. However, several shocking mistakes throughout the series and especially last final battle has left me with a bad aftertaste that i've wasted so much time on so inconsistent player. Don't forget that all creeping leads to climax of the game - final battle! I suggest you to take part in Tower's arena tournament to improve this the most important aspect of game!

But most of all i'm disappointed by your back-stabbing and untactful boasting in previous games that is very different from your usual friendly, patient and considerate behavior that i enjoyed. I wonder if bridges have been burnt between us... Yet, i hope for the healing of time.
