I've put an email out to Val asking why I can't edit the title of that tread. But sometimes it takes him a few days to respond. I'll will update you when/if I hear anything.
Honestly this forum mostly runs itself, so I don't check it every day.

Based on some complaints I have received in my mailbox, I have done some light cleaning of a few WoG-related threads: particularly, the HotA thread, the Romanian Town thread (v2.0) and the Drow town thread. There is a lot of material I left which probably should be deleted, but I like to give you all the benefit of the doubt. If you can't stop bickering and start posting in a constructive manner, I will delete posts more aggressively.
Macron: I have received numerous complaints about you in particular and agree with the complaints in many cases. If you can't figure out how to post without aggravating other members, I will penalize you and/or silence you. Please read the Code of Conduct, especially the part about provocation. Consider this your warning.

I have penalized Macron for yet another case of provocation, in this case calling another user an "evil spammer". Macron will continue to receive penalties from here on out for cases of insults or provocation against users in this forum. Macron, I urge you (again) to please read the Code of Conduct and try to learn how to get along with other people here. If you don't like someone's idea, you may post constructive criticism about it. Calling someone's idea "stupid" or "spam" or "it sucks" is not constructive criticism.

Well, in this case Macron was not totally wrong: that user Tyrem is re-posting his 27 fantasy towns (the sins towns? Cyrcus town?) in every further thread about possible towns.
Now some new users will say why not, but those who know how long it takes to materially design a town, posting several times 27 towns ideas without the slimmest technical knowledge to achieve even 1 of them, is spamming I think.
Not to mention his list is in fact an image (and very bad quality one) so to exploit his "ideas", one has to copy manually every single text word.
We have a saying in France, call to fake wolf too often and when it comes for real, no one is coming to rescue. I guess is Macron's situation here.

There are good ways and bad ways to deal with things. If someone here has a problem with another user spamming the forums, the right thing to do is tell me about it and let me handle it. That's my job. The wrong thing to do is call them an evil spammer or whatever negative phrase first comes to mind. Unfortunately for Macron, he's got too many straws on the camel's back already - this one broke it.
EDIT: I've now silenced Macron for 24 hours for posting off-topic immediately after I told everyone to get back on topic, plus not resisting the opportunity to get one more cutting remark in before the curtain closed.

Actually, that's quite universal. Turks have it, too and in English there's the term "to cry wolf" meaning false alarm. The story is from Aesop's Fables (Ancient Greece).

Everyone:
In response to some requests, Valeriy has changed the forum name (and focus) to be more encompassing of H3 mods that aren't necessarily related to WoG. In the coming days (weeks, months?) I will put some work into updating stickies and things. This would be a good time, for those of you active in H3 Mods, to suggest important additions or contents of stickied threads.
If anyone wants to actually volunteer to create a new stickied thread for the forum, that properly summarizes H3 modding projects and informational threads - and they do a good job - I might be inclined to show my gratitude (wink).

There are two problems: one is google search. People who search WoG forums will find nothing now (tested, only Vlaad's thread is still on the list, google finds in memory the old name). Second is that there is a forge town in the making and the new forum's name leads in confusion.
Both HoTA and VCMI have their main forums elsewhere. In HC their thread is only about advertising, there is no actual technical work. WoG forum contains all the projects in the making, abandoned or realized of HC members for the most.
Other that, Valeryi is paying so that's it. Just reminding that the few requests (I suppose HoTA fans) were for creating a new subforum, not changing the old name, thus now no one has what he asked for.

Heroes 3.5 - Arcane Forge sounds cool but it's misleading and not practical, I agree with Sal, on the "forge" issue.
In addition, 3.5 is specific to Wog. I think the best would be to simply call the main sticky something like "Heroes 3 Mods and Modding", practical, no unwanted word associations and google friendly.

I think that Heroes 3.5 WoG name should remain, but somehow (you are the storyteller here) find a nice way to add branches in this name to mods/ Heroes 3 unofficial expansions or whatever we can call them.
I see the title can have several lines looking as child forums. So you can use 2 additional lines to specify about HoTA and VCMI.

But that's misleading, VCMI, Era, HotA are not sub-categories of Wog. Besides, who searches for Wog anymore when there's Era? I think removing Wog from title was a right decision. It's not like there are millions of people searching for Wog forums and they'll be lost now.

People playing WoG/Era maps (personally I find Bersy's choice to name his WoG-->Era weird because is WoG) are searching for WoG forums because they need to ask for features/game-play, look at all newcomers asking for this or that detail.
And as I said, WoG forums contains hundreds of projects of HC long time members, projects exclusively for WoG 3.5. Changing the name because now we have only 2 additional platforms (and not even a third one announced) is a bit too much of a political correctness.

I don't know how long google will keep in memory the old name but for now:
If we type VCMI forums we get to VCMI main forums
If we type Horn of the Abyss forums we get their main forum on df2
If we type WoG forums we have Vlaad's thread but name was changed today so not sure will last long.
Another name except WoG 3.5 will make only WoG 3.5 fade from the net search.

i agree here. there are enough questions as it is, this may just confuse people further.
but at the same time, i think we should have a unified name that encompasses all of HoMM3 modding. what about the "HoMM3 Modding (Sub)Forum"? that encompasses past, present, and future. it tells the story simply and plainly, and there would be no mistaking where to find what one needs to mod HoMM3... ???
what do ya'll think?

i gotta admit, Heroes 3.5 Arcane Forge has a nice ring to it. when i first saw it though, i thought that there was another Forge project up and coming, and i got excited as all hell.
